Chapter Text
Mail! Chuuya's absolute favourite, well it wasn't like he absolutely despised things that came into his mail- they were just always so lengthy and a bunch of nonsense with loopholes, can't anyone just get to the point? ever? It wasn't unusual so to say to get an unnamed letter- it was always from Mori. Opening this one,
i'm sure even an intractable annoying slug like you will know who this is from, and i suppose i'll have to keep this short, like you. if you're wondering why i'm keeping it short, ill tell you because i know you're in such a conundrum, like the idiot you are. You may not even finish this letter upon seeing the first sentence, and rip, drown, or just destroy it instead of dealing with a letter in a more pragmatic approach. not being woken up by neither you, or someone knocking on the door of my office- or home, has brought me a sense of tranquility you will never infact experience. someone will surely be after you, and just for your knowledge if you truly need corruption, you'll be dead. and if that hasn't made it through your head, keep corruption under control, even a dog can control itself, no? my friend is looking over my shoulder as i write this, he will be the one making sure it gets to you, so, maybe if i have to meet your diminutive self again, you can inform me on if this really got to you. then again, nothing ever-
What the fuck.
Was the first thought in Chuuya's head, he had hoped it was maybe the sheep trying to reach out, but that was truly a stupid idea, they didn't want anything to do with him. It never hurt to hope, but the thought that Dazai had said 'hope was Chuuyas biggest weakness' still lingered in his mind and was starting to mess with his head, why would it hurt to hope? Perhaps it was really the time for Chuuya to let go of the small flicker in his eyes, the hesitation that always took control of his movements when taking a life. He tried to push that thought away immediately, why would he care what Dazai, of all people thought!
Atleast he actually took the decency to handwrite it, though it was so long! What a Dazai thing to never ever get to the point! He'd always be taunting- or teasing- or whining- or just doing anything but the mission or explaining! Chuuya had never seen Dazai do anything productive not on a mission (and that seemed barely productive) besides when he dragged him out of his empty office one time to be met with filled out paperwork.
But, would that make him less human than he was? Was Chuuya being human the only somewhat nice thing Dazai had said, along with "thats what makes me love you.", not like it mattered. it was probably one of his stupid and dumb manipulation things again. But, maybe hesitation was one of the only human things Chuuya had left, sure he could feel, but even dogs could feel. But, he wasn't a stupid 'dog' like Dazai exaggerated, or a dog in any sense.
He physically shook his head, wanting to squash and rip the letter in the stupid white pristine envelope in his hand at the thoughts in his mind, then placing it on the counter, leaning on the counter slightly to only stare at the paper and not read it. But, he didn't want to prove Dazai correct, not like he really knew what pragmatic meant even after all his education from kouyou. But, in the way Dazai had used it, it probably meant in a less messy way without a trace, like burning it or burying it somewhere, or-
Dazai had rubbed onto him too much. having countered his own thought with, literally his own thoughts. That stupid fish, always making him doubt himself, picking up the letter agin, he glanced at the handwriting, maybe it was just someone else who wanted to call him annoying and a slug and diminutive? Chuuya only even knew the meaning of diminutive because of Dazai trying to use 'big words' to make him feel lower, less than.
Picking up the letter once agin, holding it again, the paper material being so soft yet rough on the tips of his fingers, he glanced over it, or just anything that really stood out.
"slug","annoying","unable","i", and "sorry"?
Dazai had never said sorry, not when he left Chuuya on a mission, not when Chuuya was in pain from corruption, not when he had fun of him, not ever. Chuuya Nakahara had never heard Dazai Osamu apologise, which means this letter had to be a fake, right? Sure, the same handwriting, sure, it was very like him to be all mysterious about this, but it couldn't have been him, or thats why everything the logical part of Chuuya thought.
Lifting the lighter up to his fingers from his pocket, his fingers grabbed the lighter from midair to slide his finger down the spark wheel before pressing on the gas. Floating the envelope up into the air, before setting it on fire, and making it so the smoke would blow the other way- Chuuya just stared at the remains of it scattered on his floor, before then using his gravity manipulation to float it into the bin, ugh, now it smelt like smoke.
Always yours somewhere :P,
you know who!!!!
