Work Text:
Regulus walked over to the record player James had thrifted last year and put on a vinyl—Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy by Queen filled the quiet apartment. James was at work for another few minutes. Regulus headed into the kitchen, pulling ingredients out of the fridge and cabinets, starting to cook dinner for the two of them.
Finally, once the noodles were cooked, James walked into their shared apartment. He greeted Regulus with a peck on the lips, wrapping his arms around Regulus’s waist as he cooked, humming along to the music playing softly in the background.
"How would you like to go on a date tomorrow, love?" James murmured into his ear, his voice quiet.
Regulus looked over at him. "Of course. Where would we be going?" he asked, raising an eyebrow in question.
"Surprise," James responded with a smile, helping Regulus cook.

Regulus dressed himself for the date with James, putting on a casual band tee and baggy cargo pants—his usual style. He cleaned the piercings in his eyebrow and lip, fluffed his hair, and stepped out of the room. James stood there in a similar outfit.
Regulus looked confused as he saw Sirius and Remus sitting in the living room, with Pandora there as well. When Regulus walked closer to James, he looked at him, still confused.
"What's happening?" he asked, skeptical of the situation.
"Regulus Arcturus Black," James murmured, getting down on one knee and pulling out a ring box.
Regulus's eyes widened, his voice a whisper. "No... no..." He covered his mouth in shock.
"Will you marry me?" James asked, smiling up at him.
Regulus wiped a tear from his cheek. "Yes, James. I will marry you, idiot," he laughed, sliding the ring onto his finger. Smiling, he hugged James tightly and kissed him softly.
"Congrats, little brother!" Sirius exclaimed, coming over to hug him.
"Thank you, Sirius," Regulus said, then slowly went to hug Remus and finally Pandora. Silent tears streamed down his cheeks as he embraced her. It meant the world to him that Pandora was there—she had been there when no one else was. He hugged her tight.
Finally releasing her, he went back over to James, looking up at him and hugging him tightly.
"I love you, James Potter," he whispered.
