Work Text:
the sun setting slightly behind suburban buildings. streets quiet, every car having come home from work.
just the sound of footsteps running across pavement, some shouting.
they chase her, laughing wildly.
she doesn't stop, turning around every now and then to see them behind her still.
they run together, laughing together.
ignoring the time of today running out.
knowing everything is possible when they are together.
once reaching the place they desire, she stops.
they tackle her, rough and rowdy. nearly knocking her off her feet!
ruffling her hair, before patting it down flat again.
“You're cheating, that's why you won!” always the same things.
usually they cheat to win.
she can't help but smile and shake her head.
“You cheat to win.” and they roll their eyes, leaving her unsure how light this exchange is.
but seeing as they gently wrap their hands together, fingers hooking between each other.
it all seems alright.
