Chapter 1: A Birthday Gift From Yours Truly...

Chapter Text

Today was a special day, June 26th. Yelan’s one and only partner's special day. Yelan had specifically asked for a week off for this day.

Previously, she had prepared an entire date plan: from 9 a.m. (since Ei, her wife, wakes up at 7, and let’s be honest, Yelan wouldn’t wake up at 7 to save her life) until 11 p.m. (right around the time she crashes). A whole day, just the two of them.

What about other people, you ask? Well. That’s none of Yelan’s business. Today is their day. Ei’s and hers, and no one else’s.

She throws on the outfit she picked out yesterday: a dark navy, almost black, fitted dress, a leather jacket layered over it, and knee-high heels. After putting on her jewelry, she heads out to meet her wife. who, by now, is probably sharpening her blade or meditating.

Yelan walks towards the tenshukaku, checking Ei's outfit for their date today in her bag. The guards let her walk in with no problems (as that was an order for anyone and everyone that Yelan is allowed to go in whenever she likes)

The guards opened the big doors for Yelan then quickly close them after her. "Ei?" she calls out, only to be answered with silence. "Ei~" she hums, walking further and further in "Are you in here?" She asks peeking through the door only to see her wife's figure sitting and cleaning her blade. "There you are~" Yelan smiles while walking slowly towards Ei.

"You're up early." Ei comments, "That is surprising."

"Hey, now~ are you not happy to see me this early?" Yelan asks teasingly, sitting on the small table where Ei is resting all her cleaning supplies for her blade.

"No of course not," Ei says "I'm surprised, is all. You never wake up this early."

"Well, of course I don't. Waking up early is quite the hassle" Yelan says, getting a hum from Ei in response "But~ today is a special day, no?" A quiet silence fell over them. The comfortable type.

Ei then broke the silence, "for a warrior, a blade is a lifelong companion. careful maintenance is key to becoming one with your weapon and pursuing perfection." Yelan is shocked with the sudden blade ramble.

She quickly composes herself and hums in agreement, "Indeed, that is also true for my bow~"

Ei smiles ever so slightly, barely noticeable. "When polishing a blade, one can also calm the mind, letting it settle like still water in an ancient well." She closes her eyes. It was in this moment that Yelan noticed something: Ei has not looked at her whatsoever so far. Upon the realisation, she felt saddened.

"Repeating this process aids in tempering the spirit." She finally says, slowly opening her eyes while still not looking at Yelan putting her sword back in its case to close it. She sets it aside at the far end of the table.

Yelan pouts ever so slightly. Sad that her wife, who looks at her every waking second, is not looking at her this time. Could she be in a bad mood? Yelan thought but... judging from her language it seems more like she's relaxed than upset...

Before Yelan could study Ei's body some more, a pair of warm hands slid around her waist, immediately locking in. In one quick yet smooth motion, she was pulled off the table and into Ei's lap. At this point, Yelan could swear Ei heard her quick heartbeat. One second she was sitting on the table, the next her legs were on each opposite side of Ei's body, held close as if she wasn't planning on letting Yelan go. Effortlessly, as if Yelan were as light as a feather getting picked up and moved from one place to another.

“Well, what makes today so special, hm?” Ei leaned in, locking eyes and closing the already oh so close distance between them. Yelan searched for words, really tried. But... with Ei so close- so warm- and… Her irresistible scent... All she could do was stare at her. Utterly defeated.

Ei leaned in further, placing a soft kiss on the corner of Yelan's lips. "Well…?” Ei whispered, hungry for more- more reactions. Her right hand slid to Yelan's thigh, the other resting gently on her back. Ei pressed another, soft kiss against Yelan's cheek. And another on the corner of her eye. Another on her nose. and- yelan finally found some words.

"it- it's your birthday." she managed to say. Completely shocking even herself.

How could, Yelan, a spy who has seduced and lured many foes, be this flustered when all Ei did was simply touch her? The answer is simple. Yelan loves Ei. She didn't care about any of the people she's dealt with, unlike with Ei.

Yelan took a deep breath. “I had this entire day planned out for you…” She slowly slipped her arms around Ei's neck, closing the left space between them. She leaned in to kiss Ei's lips, eyes slowly closing. Ei noticed and let her, gently pulling her closer with the hand on her back until their bodies pressed together without a gap.

Yelan pulled back from the kiss, her usual,  teasing smile back on her face. "Well! Come on, let's go!” she said, standing quickly. Ei's right hand stayed on Yelan's thigh, wanting to hold her for longer. “We may have all day, but that doesn't mean we can slack off. So come on," Yelan turned to get her bag and handed it to Ei. “Go change. There's a matching dress inside-- since you love them.”

Ei stood up glancing inside the bag, and smiled at what she saw. Like, really smiled. She pulled Yelan into a deep, long kiss that felt endless.

Once Ei pulled away, she moved to Yelan's ear whispering “You look cute in this dress,” before slipping away to change, leaving a very flustered Yelan behind.
