Chapter 1: 1
Chapter Text
"Suppalo's reputation is on your hands, Akk, take care of it"
"Yes, sir!"
"Just because the rules are long established, doesn't mean they should continue" the protesting students yelled, holding big signs above their heads that they raised like weapons.
"The school has no right to dehumanize us, we have full rights to our body!" The students gathered around could only stare at them, some of them agreeing, most of them, not.
"No school uniform! No school uniform! No school uniform!'
The newly announced head prefect excused himself to the principal, having heard the commotion happening all the way to where they were standing at the side of the school, hidden behind the Janitor's car.
He ran as fast as he could to them, demanding they stop with the authority only a head prefect could have.
The three students causing the commotion didn't stop, but if Akk didn't scare them, the car heading their way certainly did.
Screams were heard from the protestors as they fell on the ground, trying to avoid the car.
Two students run to it when it came in contact with a poll and stopped, and announced that there was no one driving it.
"Is it the curse again?" Kan, his friend asked, a worried look in his face as he stared at his two friends.
Before Akk could answer, he noticed a lone figure wearing black standing in the direction the car came from.
Having been noticed, the boy in black started running away, Akk instructing his fellow prefect friends to take care of the situation while he run after him.
"Wait! Where are you going!?" His friend Wat asked, but he didn't have time to answer unless he wanted to lose his target.
He chased him through the halls, demanding the students get out of his way so as to not slow him down, In contrast, he could hear the boy apologizing to anyone he bumped into.
Taking a sharp turn, Akk was met with an empty hallway, but there was no way he could have lost him.
Looking to the side, he saw the door of the teachers bathroom closed but surely occupied.
He made his way in, closing the door behind him and blocking it with his body to prevent the boy from escaping.
"You, newbie, this restroom is for teachers, students have no business using it." Akk said, trying to keep calm and not the boy who was urinating in one of the stalls.
"Why are you here then?" The boy said and turned towards him, and Akk was met with a sight that he didn't expect.
Above the boys grey Calvin Klein boxers, was a black tattoo. He could barely make out an English word written in cursive letters at the side of his hip.
He felt his mouth run dry, his eyes glued there until the new student buttoned his pants and fastened his belt.
The boy stared at him with a tiny smile on his face.
Did he notice me staring?
"I'm a prefect" Akk said after he had gained his senses back, but the new student didn't seem to care. He slowly made his way to the sink and while staring at him through the mirror asked, "So, what?"
Akk felt the need to punch him, but he wouldn't get himself in trouble right after being given the role of Head prefect, so ignoring the boys attitude, he asked, "Why are you not wearing the school uniform"
"I don't want to"
This fucking -
"But you must, it's the rule" Akk said, trying to keep his cool and not snap at him.
The boy turned to stare at him, his deep brown eyes piercing into his soul.
"I will wear when I want to okay?" And with that, he slightly pushed Akks shoulder and went passed him, exiting the bathroom.
He probably thinks this is over.
There's no way Akk would just let him go like that, his school didn't need disobedient students like him or the World Remembers gang, as they like to call themselves.
Akk followed behind the new student, he would not let him go so easy.
"I'm a prefect, my duty is to make sure everyone is following the rules" he said, and the boy turned to him again, and with that same attitude from before said, "why don't you deal with that accident instead of picking on me? Students under your care almost got hit by a car"
"None of your business, we will take care of that" Akk said, knowing that his school would do it's best to solve the mystery of the accident.
"How rigid. My first day here is already amusing, can't wait to see how much more you have in store for me" and with a student smirk that made Akk want to punch it off his face, he turned his back to him and left.
_
The bell rang, Akk sat in his usual seat beside Kan, who was busy chatting with Wat about the accident.
"There was no one in the car, how did it drive itself?" Wat asked, staring at Kan who was playing with a pen.
"The Suppalo curse, last time it was the flower pot, now the ghost car, what next?"
Akk rolled his eyes at his friends dramatics and intervened in their conversation.
"Did you guys take care of the accident?" He asked, his friends now focused on him.
Kan nodded, "yes, where were you though? You disappeared" he asked, and Akk sighed himself in annoyance at being reminded of the new troublemaker attending their school.
"I was following the new kid, he was acting so shady" he scoffed.
"An old issue remains unsolved, another one arises" Kan grimaced.
"You're the biggest fan of the Suppalo curse, Kan" Wat said, making fun of his friend for his weird beliefs in curses.
"Consider what's been happening lately. Honestly, his is too much for Mr. Kan to handle" Kan said and Wat smiled at him ironically.
"Mr. Kan, can I kick you in the fact?"
Kan put his dirty shoe on Wats desk as retaliation and said, "Wat, you're talking like a bastard"
Before the two could enter a fake fighting match as they usually did, Akk butted in.
"I must get him" he said, determined to unveil the mysteries of the new student.
"The newbie? Do you know in which class he's in? How will you get him?" Wat asked, and before Akk could answer any of his questions, the teacher walked in.
"Good morning everyone. Today, we get to welcome a new friend, please step in"
It was him! The newbie! It was him.
Akk stared at him closely as the teacher instructed him to introduce himself to his fellow classmates.
"My name is Ayan" he started, and the he made eye contact with Akk.
Those deep brown eyes were staring at him again and Akk felt short of breath.
"But you can call me Aye" he said while still staring at him, like it was only directed at him and no one else.
"Then, Aye please take a seat beside Thuaphu"
No, Akk would not let that happen.
"He can sit next to me miss, Kan will sit next to Thuaphu" said Akk, and Ayans eyes - that had been directed at Thua who had raised his hand for Ayan to see him - were back at him. Intense, unwavering. "I'm a prefect, I'll take care of him"
"Is that okay?" The teacher asked, and Akk was half sure that he would say no, but, proving him wrong, the newbie, Ayan, said "sure" and made his way to him after Kan vacated the seat.
"Whatever you're here for, I'll be watching you closely, keep that in mind" he threatened. What he didn't expect is the new student placing his palm on his thigh and leaning close to him, a mocking smile on his face while he whispered, "Catch me if you can"
Akk removed his hand from his thigh with force, feeling the skin that had been touched burning as if was on fire, the butterflies in his stomach and the rapid beating of his heart certainly didn't help make him feel better.
He was gonna take that new kid down if it was the last thing he did.
.
.
.
.
Akk was making rounds in the hallways by himself, having split up with his friends who were monitoring the schoolyard, when suddenly, something happened.
It happened all at once.
The noise vanished. The air went still. Every student in the hallway froze in place.
A boy mid-laugh, his mouth still open. Another half-bent to tie his shoe. A teacher with a cup of coffee hovering just below his lips. Frozen, not blinking, not breathing, not alive in the way people should be.
He stopped walking.
His heart kicked against his ribs like a trapped animal. The silence pressed in, thick and unnatural. He could hear the buzz of the lights now, the faint hum of electricity in the walls—but nothing else. No whispers. No breathing. Just the sound of him being alone among the unmoving.
A cold wave crept up his spine.
He turned in a slow circle, eyes wide, searching the frozen faces around him. Something was wrongnot just eerie, but deeply, viscerally wrong, like reality itself had hiccupped. A pressure built behind his eyes, a rising panic, not loud but sharp, the kind that makes your limbs feel too light and your chest too tight.
"Hello?" he said.
No one answered.
No one moved.
Panicked, he turned around again, and that's when he saw it, the image that made him feel like his legs had been cut off his body and his hands were jelly. His heart stopped. His breathing too, he felt like throwing up from fear, cause a few meters away from him, stood a grotesque clown, tall and motionless, bathed in flickering, sickly yellow light. His oversized shoes soaked in something dark and wet, leaving smudged prints behind him. His face painted with exaggerated white makeup, but it’s cracked and flaking, revealing pale, leathery skin underneath. His eyes are unnaturally wide, unblinking, with pupils like pinpricks—cold, glassy, and locked onto him. Locked onto Akk.
The clown's mouth stretched into a chilling grin far too wide for a human, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth, glistening and stained. The red makeup around his mouth only deepened the illusion of a gaping maw, made worse by the dried blood crusting at the corners. His nose was a sagging bulb of red, slightly torn, like a rotten cherry.
Clutched tightly in his gloved hand was a chainsaw, slick with oil and something worse—its jagged teeth glint even in the dim light. Though the engine isn’t running, Akk could almost feel it rumble in his chest, as if it's alive and waiting. The clown wasn't moving. He was just standing there… smiling.
Until he wasn't. Taking a big step forward with his comically big, stained boot, he made his way closer to Akk, and Akk felt like every cell in his body froze before adrenaline kicked in, sending him weaving between students as fast as he could, trying to make it as far away from the clown as he could, somewhere safe, somewhere enclosed, somewhere alive.
Akk could hear the clown following close behind him, the thudding sound his boots made everytime they came in contact with the floor sending a chill and a tremble up Akks spine. His heart felt like it was beating at the beat of those thuds, only it wasn't, cause it was beating so fast Akk felt like it was going to break out of his chest and fall to the ground for that monster to feast on, the monster who was still following behind him.
There were tears rolling down Akks face as he kept running. He wanted to scream, he wanted to hide, he wanted this to stop. Please, please, please, please just stop. He wanted to live.
Seeing the door to the bathroom, Akk made his way in and with trembling hands locked it behind him before falling to the ground on the other side of that door, as far away as possible as sobs wrecked through his body, sobs that he tried to keep quiet as to not alert the monster, hoping that now that he was in a closed space it would think he was gone and leave.
Akk cried, he sobbed, he curled into a tight little ball and prayed to every God, every diety, everything holy, to please, please, please, keep him safe, keep him alive, help him.
Help, help, help.
That's what Akk needed. Someone to help him.
But it seemed like there was no such thing as help coming his way, cause suddenly, Akk heard a sound coming from the faucets, like they had been turned on, and when he raised his head from the small cocoon that he had made, he noticed that all of them were running, the water overflowing and spilling on the tiles, only, it wasn't water that was flowing out of the faucets, but blood.
Akk whimpered, watching as the blood spread everywhere on the floor, getting up and making himself almost one with the wall as he tried to avoid it touching him. He had to get out of there, he had to hide, but where?
Trying to open one of the bathroom stalls, Akk noticed that it wouldn't open, not that one, not the ones beside it as well. The blood was getting closer and Akk didn't know what to do.
If he didn't die from the clowns hands, he would did from a heart attack.
But it seemed like the heart attack would have to wait, cause as Akk was about to try and break the door of the stall down, the clown broke the bathrooms door open and made his way in, slow, deliberate, staring into Akks soul with that creepy wide smile and those soulless empty eyes.
Akk screamed bloody murder, falling to his knees and hugging them close to his chest again, begging to be left alone, begging to live.
"Please, please, leave me alone please! Leave me alone! I don't want to die! Leave me alone! Leave me alone!" His voice was harsh and high pitched from the screaming, and as the clown came closer and the blood finally reached Akk, soaking his polished shoes and pristine uniform red, Akk had to accept his fate as his screams stopped and only whimpers escaped his mouth, the last thing he saw was the image of him reflected in the clowns black, void eyes, the image of a boy tightly hugging himself, his face filled with tears, snot and spit, his mouth trembling and his eyes filled with heartbreaking fear.
Akk took a last breath before closing his eyes, resigned to his fate, and as he heard and felt the vibrations of the chainsaw getting closer, he heard someone whisper his name, fast, staccato and then there was silence.
Akk waited a few seconds, waiting for the inevitable to happen, but when he felt no splitting pain cutting him open, when there was nothing but silence and slight chatter coming outside of the bathroom, Akk opened one eye slowly, carefully, and was met with an empty, clean room. No blood on the floor, no clown infront of him. Nothing. He was alone, finally.
Akk passed out.

Akk woke up slowly, feeling disoriented and dizzy. His head was throbbing and he felt like there was sandpaper scratching at his throat every time he swallowed.
He opened his eyes slowly, the harsh light peeking through the curtains irritating him.
He looked around, noticing that he was in the school's nurse's office.
How the heck did he end up there?
Sitting up, he noticed that except for a headache, he felt completely fine, so he got off the bed and left the empty office. His bag wasn't in there so he had to find it.
He walked to his classroom and knocked on the door, hoping that the teacher would not reprimand him for interrupting the lesson.
Once he was allowed to enter, he opened the door and walked in, waing to teacher Waree who only told him to take a seat before moving on with her lesson.
He made his way to his seat and sat beside the troublemaker who looked at him with a small smile.
"How's the school's pride and joy feeling?"
Akk ignored him. He would not fall for his stupid, childish games, his only purpose was to expose this boy's secret or even better, get him to leave the room.
"What's wrong? Did you hit your head when you passed out and now you can't understand human language?" He prodded, but Akk knew better than to let his words get to him.
So, instead of entertaining the new student with an answer, he only turned to glare at him.
"Ohh, so scary, head prefect, I almost pissed myself" the boy whispered, grinning widely at him, mocking, annoying, insufferable.
Akk wanted to punch him. He wanted to wipe that stupid smile off his face and replace it with pained groans and winces. He hadn't felt like that since he first became a student at Suppalo and was being made fun of for his financial status and less than noble background.
Akk took a deep breath, focused his attention on the lesson and tried to ignore the boy's existence as much as he could.
🌑🎈
When the bell rang and teacher Warre exited the classroom, Wat and Kan were immediately at his side, trapping him - and unfortunately Ayan as well - on their seats.
"Akk! How are you feeling? Are you doing better?" Wat asked, Kan following with questions about his well-being as well.
"I'm doing fine, to be honest, I really don't know what happened, how did I end up there?" Akk asked and his friends were quick to inform him that he had passed out while doing rounds and someone took him to the nurse's office.
"Who?" He asked, curious about who he had to thank.
Kan shrugged, "we don't know, ask the nurse, he was there when that person brought you" he said, and Akk nodded.
"Have you been studying until late at night and not eating again? Is that why you passed out?" Wat asked and Akk shook his head.
"No that's not it. I don't really know what happened." He frowned, trying to remember if there was anything strenuous he had done except reading too much that would have resulted in him passing out, but he came up with nothing.
"Maybe it was the heat, it's quite warm today and those uniforms don't go well with it" Wat reasoned, trying to make sense of the situation.
"Probably" Akk shrugged and stood up, squeezing behind Ayans chair who hadn't moved an inch and made his way to the exit with his friends following behind.
"Akk" he heard someone call and turned around to glare at the new kid who was busy putting his things away in his bag.
"What?" He snapped, unexplainable anger in his voice as Ayan ignored him.
"What ,what?" He asked, staring at Akk with a frown.
"I don't know, you called me" he said, irritated.
"No I didn't" Ayan shook his head, staring at Akk as if he was something strange and Akk wanted to strangle him.
"Whatever"
"You sure you didn't hit your head, head prefect? Cause you're acting pretty weird" Ayan said, his tone mocking, but the only answer Akk gave him was a middle finger and a glare before he exited the class.
He heard laughter coming from that direction but he chose to ignore it.
🌑🎈
The student prefects were standing in a line in teacher Chadoks office, beside them stood The World Remembers gang, frowning as they listened to teacher Chadok declare the incident that happened an accident.
"There is no way!" One of the Jums exclaimed, fuming, "there is no way the car started and drove itself to us, someone must have done it, someone who doesn't agree with our protests" the second grade students turned to look at Akk pointetly.
Akk frowned, "are you implying it's me?" He asked, the false accusation making his already angry self even angrier.
"Who else could it be? You even came from that direction when you came all high and mighty to stop us from saying the truth. You don't want us to educate the other students so you're willing to put a stop to us, no matter what it takes, but you took it too far today! We could've gotten seriously injured if we hadn't dodged the car-"
"How can you accuse me of wanting to harm you when I was the one to warn you about the car? I-"
"Of course! You were the only one who saw the car coming towards us 'cause you knew it was gonna happen! You dictator!" The shrill voice of Junman was grating at his nerves.
How dare he accuse him of such things?!
"Enough!" Teacher Chadok's stern voice cut through the yelling, sharp and final. "How dare you accuse your schoolmate of trying to cause harm to you? All of Suppalo's students want the best for each other. We're a family here, what happened today was nothing but an accident, no one was behind it because no one in this school would want to cause any kind of pain to each other and that's it! You're dismissed" teacher Chadok slammed his hand on his desk in frustration, glaring at his students, and Akk took the dismissal for what it was. He bowed deeply and made his way outside followed by the rest of the students, Kan wrapping an arm around his shoulders comfortingly as they walked towards the classroom.
"Akk" he heard someone call from behind him and slowly, he turned, coming face to face with the three Jums that were looking at him with what Akk could only describe as hatred.
"It's phi Akk to you, he's your senior and also a prefect, so show him some respect" Kan glared back at them, his words biting.
"I have no respect for a dictator who tried to harm me and my friends just because he wants us and the rest of the students to abide by those archaic rules the schools had since it was built decades ago. We're gonna change this school and nothing you can do can stop us"
Akk could only stare at the angry second years who were spewing bullshit, not wanting to give them the time of day he just shrugged and with a scoff he knew would piss them off even more, he turned his back to them and left, his friends following loyaly behind him.
"Who raised these kids? They have zero manners" Wat shook his head in disbelief before patting Akk on the back reassuringly. "Don't worry, me and Kan have your back, those juniors will have to learn how to follow the rules one way or another"
Akk smiled at his friends, feeling a heavy weight lift off his shoulders at their support.
"Don't worry, they're harmless, just some kids who want to feel important, nothing we can't deal with" he said, and Kan punched him gently on the shoulder, "that's the spirit, just a bunch of reckless kids. They don't know who they're dealing with"
🌑🎈
Akk had been too busy with the World Remembers gang to pay attention to the new student whose presence brought nothing but trouble, but when he was patrolling with Kan and Wat and he saw him laying on the bleachers, head resting on the hoodie that he shouldn't be wearing and a book covering his face, he thought it was a great moment to ambush him.
"Continue patrolling, i'll deal with him" he instructed Kan and Wat and they nodded at him, following his order with no problem.
Now he was alone with the new student.
He slowly made his way to him, taking the step that would lead him right above him and then, not so slowly, definitely not gently, he yanked the book resting on the students face, throwing it carelessly at his chest, startling him from his nap.
"What the fuck" the student exclaimed, staring up at Akk with fire in his eyes.
"You shouldn't be wearing that. The school's rules forbid students from wearing anything other than the standard school uniform and since you're attending this school now, newbie, you should follow this school's rules" Akks tone was accusatory but also mocking, trying to make the new student feel bad for misbehaving on his first day, but instead of his scolding making the new student feel ashamed of his actions, it only seemed to make him angrier.
"You and your school rules can fuck off for all i care, I said it before and I'm gonna say it again; I will wear the school uniform when and if I want to and no archaic rules or little prefects with sticks up their asses can force me to wear it, so you better watch how you talk to me or I'll have to act accordingly" Ayan spat, and even though he was shorter than Akk, staring up at him through his gelled bangs, Akk could feel a slight chill run down his spine.
Probably annoyance.
He rolled his eyes at the shorter, trying to hold himself back from lushing out at him and punching him in the face until he wouldn't even be able to beg for him to stop.
"When you decided to move to this school you knew the rules it abided by, and if you didn't know when you decided to transfer here, you were surely informed when you came to sign your papers, it's not like you were forced to come here or that you didn't know. If you're too dumb to follow some simple rules maybe you should've stayed at your old school; this school has rules that need to be respected and I'm responsible for making sure that students do just that, so instead of acting all high and mighty at me, shortstop, you should get your facts and attitude straight or else I'm gonna be sending you to the principals office every day and you're gonna keep getting in trouble until you get expelled and fall behind, and it's gonna be nobody else's fault but yours. I better see you wearing the school uniform in the next period or else i'll have to make my words reality." Akk paused, staring at Ayan up and down before scoffing, a mocking smirk on his face, "oh, and don't try to intimidate me again cause I'm not scared of you, shortstop"
Ayan, who had been glaring at him throughout his whole speech, smiled at Akk, but even though his mouth was smiling, his eyes were serious.
"You should be, little prefect" he hung his bag over his shoulder, his book in one hand and his hoodie in the other and made his way towards the building, after a few steps he paused and turned back to him, "stay safe, Akk, or don't" and with that, he left Akk behind, angrier than earlier but with a stronger determination to uncover this students secrets.
