The Play date

Summary:

The day had finally come, the play date. Originally it was between Teucer Klee and Eri, but Klee had begged to let Diona come along, so Yoimiya had no choice. And now here she, Mirio, and Ajax were. Sitting on a small park bench and watching them play.

Notes:

Part two of Explosion Siblings. This one is just Klee, Diona, Eri, and Teucer playing at a park. I thought the idea was cute and had to write it. Enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The day had finally come, the play date. Originally it was between Teucer Klee and Eri, but Klee had begged to let Diona come along, so she had no choice. And now here she, Mirio, and Ajax were. Sitting on a small park bench and watching them play.

“Eri can be the princess, but why do I have to be the dragon? I’m supposed to be an adventurer here to save her so she can stop the production of alcohol in the kingdom.” Diona argued. “But we need a dragon to defeat…” Klee trailed off in thought. “What if we use Dodoco as the dragon? Then we can all be adventurers.” Teucer thought about it for a moment before agreeing. “We can take turns moving and speaking for it while the others save Princess Eri.”

Klee climbed the slide and put Dodoco at the top. Eri adjusted her plastic tiara from her place on the landing in front of the climbing wall. “Oh no,” she put a hand to her forehead, “if only there were brave adventurers here to save me.”

Klee began climbing the wall, but the Dodo-Dragon (who was currently Teucer) threw boulders (pebbles) down the wall to stop her! “Oh no! My plan to save the princess!” Klee exclaimed. “Don’t worry, I’ll help you.” Diona pushed Klee further up the wall before swapping out with Teucer as the dragon.

“C’mon princess, let’s get away from these filthy adventurers.” Diona led Eri down the slide and to the swings. Eri sat down on the swing with Diona pushing her. “Oh no. Adventurers, I’m over here!” Eri giggled when Diona pushed her higher.

“Let’s go!” Klee and Teucer went down the slide and ran to the swings. They weaved through the swings that were being used before they got to Eri. Klee and Teucer both poked one of her cheeks. “Oh no. I have been defeated, now the princess will be free.” Diona said sarcastically. Klee, Eri, and Teucer all began jumping up and down celebrating.

“Let’s all swing now.” They each day next to another, occasionally pushing each other sideways. Some other kids that were playing with a ball decided that they wanted to swing too, but there were no other swings available.

“Hey! Get off the swings so we can use them.” A kid with blue hair demanded. “Why? We were here first.” Diona sassed. The boy noticed her ears and smirked. “Yeah, we wouldn’t want to use the swings after mutants anyways. My mom says they make things dirty.” He looked over the rest of them. Klee’s elf ears and Eri’s horn. “Why don’t you play with us instead?” He addressed Teucer, “We’re not dirty like them.” The kids behind him muttered agreements.

Eri was close to tears at this point. They had not only insulted her, but her friends too. Her friends didn’t care where she came from or what she did. They loved her anyway, so she wasn’t going to let anyone talk to them that way. “The only dirty thing here is your heart. Teucer wouldn’t want to play with someone so mean. And you shouldn’t be mean to someone for something they can’t do anything about.”

Teucer jumped in. “Yeah, and your mom shouldn’t say things like that. She’s not a nice person and she’s teaching you to be that way too.” The kid looked surprised that someone would talk back to him. “Fine! We didn’t want to swing anymore anyways. Let’s go guys.” He and his friends walked away.

“Thank you Eri and Teucer for standing up for us.” Diona said. Normally she would have said something, but she thought Eri and Teucer needed a boost of confidence. That and they clearly had it handled.

——

They played for two more hours, jumping from game to game. By the time they had to leave Diona had gotten stuck in a tree. “It’ll be okay Diona. I’ll catch you.” Ajax had come over while Mirio and Yoimiya packed the other kids into their respective cars. The girl shakily nodded before slowly jumping into his arms. “See, I told you it’d be fine.” He held her close and spoke in a soothing voice while making his way to the cars.

He handed her off to Yoimiya who would be driving her home. “She’s fine, just a little shaken up.”

“It’s okay sweet pea, just no more tree climbing okay?” Diona nodded. Klee had managed to cheer Diona up before they dropped her off at home. And unsurprisingly, Klee fell asleep in the car again. Yoimiya guesses a whole day at the park would do that to you. She wanted to pinch Klee’s cheeks but restrained herself. That would make Klee grumpy, and nobody wanted to deal with a grumpy Klee.

Notes:

Like the last one, it could definitely be better, but oh well. We’re not here for good writing we’re here for the adorable cinnamon rolls that are these children.
