When he opens the door, it’s immediately clear that Shelley isn’t home— extending her trip to her brother’s, then— and he isn’t sure whether or not to be relieved. If she’s still gone, he can at least probably sleep in the bed tonight.
Ignoring his pounding headache, he takes a deep breath, makes his way to the kitchen, pours himself a drink, and slumps down into a chair.
He puts his head in his hands and screams.
He isn’t sure how much longer he can keep doing this.
He ends up falling asleep on the couch later that night anyways.
