It's a bad idea, right?

Summary:

Mira gets her first tattoo.

Or Rumi gets to understand why her girlfriends love her marks so much.

Work Text:

Rumi’s patterns glowed faintly as the trio cuddled on the couch, watching an animal documentary Zoey had put on. Mira looked down at Rumi, whose head was in her lap, and stared at her arms, memorizing every detail and intricate curve of the patterns.

Rumi tilted her head up towards Mira and followed her gaze to her arms. Rumi quickly looked away and froze.

A flick to the forehead interrupted Rumi’s spiraling. “Stop it. I was admiring them” Mira whispered. Rumi smiled sheepishly and turned back towards the tv, cuddling deeper into Mira.

Mira began to trace her fingers over the patterns, drawing a low hum out of Rumi. Mira had been hesitant when she had first seen them but had very quickly become enamoured with the marks. They were beautiful, and badass, and sexy all at once. Mira thought that if she had tattoos she might like to have a sleeve that looked like that.

Mira sat on the couch, silently scrolling through her instagram while Zoey and Rumi cuddled on the other side, talking about a new song. A suggested post popped up in her feed, showcasing a beautiful patterned tattoo running up the clients leg.

Mira tapped on the artist's profile. The artist had a collection of intricate line-work and sleeves with delicate patterns. Mira scrolled back up, and saw that the artist was located in Seoul. Thinking it over for way less time than she probably should have, Mira sent the artist a message.

Mira felt the needle prodding her skin as the artist worked, carefully tracing the patterns Mira had memorized. Mira was focused on the soft indie rock music playing in the studio, when she felt a soft buzz at her side. Mira opened her phone and saw a message from Zoey.

“Hey babe, hope the meeting with the stylist is going well! Can’t wait till you get home :) we miss you <3” Attached was a photo of Zoey and Rumi cuddling, with an open space on the couch beside them.

Mira smiled and started typing with one hand. “Miss you too princess. Got a surprise for you both when I get home.” Zoey responded with a string of emojis, drawing out a quiet laugh from Mira.

So Mira hadn’t told her girlfriends what she was doing. Or Bobby. “ But surely they’ll be fine with it?” Mira thought to herself. “ It’s not like Rumi’s ‘tattoos’ ruined our image or anything.” In fact the time had never been better to get a tattoo, and Mira had really always wanted one. Totally fine.

Bobby’s totally gonna flip.

The elevator dinged as the door to the penthouse opened and Mira stepped into the room.

“So what’s the surpr-” Zoey began, looking up at Mira from the couch before cutting off with a gasp.

Rumi’s eyes snapped up towards Mira and she froze. Rumi stared at Mira’s arm. Mira caught Rumi’s gaze and looked down ashamedly. “Sorry Rumi. I should have asked first.”

“No it’s fine, it’s just-” Rumi paused hesitantly, “I think I’m starting to understand why you guys like my marks so much.” Mira released a breath she didn’t know she was holding and looked back up.

“Babyyy, you look so sexy!” Zoey giggled, eyes locked onto the tattoo. Rumi furiously nodded her head in agreement and pulled herself off Zoey. Rumi walked over and stood beside Mira, holding out her own arm.

“How did you get the marks so accurately?” Rumi asked, eyes flicking between Mira’s arm and her own.

“Well, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I spend a lot of time looking at your arms Rumi. And the internet helps.” Rumi blushed deeply and began to trail her fingers down the patterns on Mira’s arm.

“Me too!” Zoey bounced off the couch and stood in front of the other two. “Oh my girlfriends have such pretty patterns!” Zoey said, tracing her fingers over the older girl's arms.

“So -” Rumi paused, fingers still running down Mira’s arm, “Does Bobby know about this?” Mira shook her head. “Nope.”

“Oh … I’m sure it’ll be fine”

Mira was sipping on her smoothie, taking a break from practicing the choreo for a new song when Bobby burst into the studio. “Hey girls, I just got the new HUNTR/X posters for your new song if you want to take a look.” Bobby looked over at Mira. “Mira. What have you got there?” Bobby asked calmly. “A smoothie.” Mira responded, deflecting from the obvious.

Bobby sighed and dropped the posters on the ground. “Well I guess we can’t use these anymore.” Mira rubbed the back of her head apologetically. “Sorry Bobby.”

“I’m gonna have to make some calls. Give me a heads up next time? Please?” Mira nodded. “It’s fine, we’re fine. The public can handle another rebrand, it's fine.” Bobby continued, speeding back out of the studio.

Rumi looked over at Mira. “Well that went ok!”

“Best manager around!” Zoey added, picking up one of the posters. She unraveled the poster and turned it towards the other girls. “Hmm it’s nice, but I think the next ones will be even hotter.”

Rumi nodded in agreement, eyes running up and down Mira’s arm. “So sexy.”
