The Times Logan Bell Talked in His Sleep

Summary:

It wasn't a surprise to Spencer that Logan was a sleep talker, saying the utmost ridiculous but also humorous things in his sleep. He was used to this, of course. In the year they've lived together, Spencer had grown accustomed to it.

And of course, he can't help but find the whole thing extremely endearing and utterly hilarious all at the same time.

Notes:

So before we get into the main fanfic, I just want it to be very clear that I DID NOT leave S4 because "omg my otp didn't become canon I hate ONC for life now!!! 😫😭😢" (that's a super dumb and immature reason btw)

Carnival of Chaos just hadn't been that interesting of a season and I started losing interest by around ep 11 or 12 (so I've had this option for months even before 16 and 17 were released) and the last 2 episodes we got weren't that great hence why I dropped it.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It wasn't a surprise to Spencer that Logan was a sleep talker, saying the utmost ridiculous but also humorous things in his sleep. He was used to this, of course. In the year they've lived together, Spencer had grown accustomed to it.

And of course, he can't help but find the whole thing extremely endearing and utterly hilarious all at the same time.

So as Logan mumbled on about some strange dream he was having, the mathematician laid in bed, his head leaning against the headboard as he listened.

"Mmhm...... no....... the killer pineapples are gonna eat me......."

"Killer pineapples, huh?" He chuckled quietly to himself.

"No, please....... I don't want peanut butter sandwiches for lunch......"

The Brit couldn't help but let out another quiet laugh. "Peanut butter sandwiches?" He looked over at his boyfriend. "You're such a dork, my love." A small smile tugs at the corners of his lips as he leaned down and kissed his temple.

Logan let out a sleepy hum, shifting slightly as he subconsciously snuggled closer to Spencer. The other man smiled and wrapped his arms around him, gently playing with his hair as he continued to watch him sleep.

In the morning, Spencer made himself a warm cup of coffee with light cream and some sugar. He took a sip, savoring its rich, smooth flavor as he leaned against the kitchen counter. That's when he heard the sound of footsteps enter the room, indicating Logan was awake.

"Morning, sleepyhead." He greeted him, a smile tugging at his lips.

Logan, still half-asleep, yawned and slowly made his way over to him. "Morning..." He mumbles, laying his head on the other's shoulder.

Spencer chuckled. "You were talking in your sleep again last night." He teased, reaching a hand up to card through his hair.

"I did?" He asked, lifting his head up. "What'd I say?"

He smirked. "You were rambling on about killer pineapples and peanut butter sandwiches."

Logan looked absolutely dumbfounded. "Wh-what? I don't remember any of that!!"

Spencer couldn't help but chuckle. "That's the thing about sleep talking, my dear Logan. You don't remember a thing." He explained. He took another sip of his coffee. "But it was entertaining, nonetheless."

The athlete blushed. "Well, I'm glad you find it endearing, Spence. But I still feel like a doofus. I mean, killer pineapples?? Who comes up with that???"

"You do, apparently." Spencer teased lightly.

Logan rolled his eyes playfully. "Gee, thanks." He said sarcastically.

"You're welcome, my dear." Spencer finishes the last of his coffee and sets the empty mug down on the counter. "Nonetheless, I love you regardless of your bizarre dreams."

"Aw, Spence!" He grinned, wrapping his arms around his waist. "I love you, too!"

The other man returned the hug, leaning forward to give him a gentle kiss. "How would you like me to make you some breakfast?"

His boyfriend's face instantly lights up. "Ooooh, yes please! You know I'm always hungry after waking up!" He said eagerly. "Oh, oh! Can you make pancakes again?? Pwetty pwease?" He gives him the puppy eyes look.

Spencer couldn't help but shake his head. "You know I can't resist those puppy dog eyes of yours, Logan. Of course I'll make pancakes for you." He said in a loving tone.

Logan pumped his fist in excitement. "Woohoo! You're the best, Spence!" He grinned, giving him another tight squeeze and a big kiss on the cheek. "I'm gonna go brush my teeth and freshen up real quick!" He rushed down the hallway without saying another word.

The Brit just chuckled to himself. "Such a child. But I adore him for it." He muttered to himself as he grabs the ingredients needed to make the pancakes.

Later that night, Spencer's awake as Logan slept soundly beside him, the athlete's soft breathing and snores filling the quiet room. It was another night of listening to his boyfriend's random sleep talking episodes, and he honestly couldn't wait to hear what tonight's were gonna be.

Sure enough, after a few minutes, he began mumbling incoherent nonsense again. "Mmm, Spencer....."

He raised an eyebrow at the mention of his name. He scooted closer, listening closely. "You're so handsome......."

The mathematician couldn't help but grin at the compliment. He reached out and gently carded his fingers through Logan's hair.

"Mmmmm......... lemme suck on your man titties......"

That... caught him off guard. Spencer's eyes widened, his cheeks flushing bright red. He looked down at his boyfriend and chuckled quietly to himself.

"Good grief. You're a handful even in your sleep." He muttered fondly.

Logan's hand unconsciously reaches out towards Spencer's chest. "I wanna squeeze them....."

He gently grabbed Logan's hand. "Calm down there, big guy." He joked lightly, giving his hand a squeeze.

The swimmer seemed to respond to Spencer's touch, his hand weakly gripping back. The mathematician couldn't help but find it cute, despite the lewdness of his comments.

He continued stroking his hair, listening to his boyfriend's incoherent mumbling and continued to be amused by the randomness of it all.

Spencer was sitting in a lounge chair, reading a book and sipping his cup of tea with a hint of lemon. He loved spending his afternoons outside in their screened-in porch, the sound of birds and a distant lawn mower were the only things he could hear. He was so engrossed in his book that he didn't notice Logan approaching.

"Hey, babe!" He greeted.

He looked up from his book. "Hello there, my dear Logan." He set his book down and pats the open space beside him. "Come sit with me."

Logan gladly accepted the invite. "So, uh... can I ask you something?"

Spencer tilted his head slightly. "Of course, darling. Whatever could it be?"

He glanced off to the side, looking a little bit flustered. "Did I... do anything weird in my sleep last night? Like, oh I don't know... made inappropro comments about your chest?"

This caused the Brit to smirk. "Ah, yes. You did say some... rather interesting things about my chest."

Logan covered his face in embarrassment. "Shit! I'm so, so, so sorry, Spencer!"

Spencer chuckled, gently tugging his hands away from his face. "Please don't apologize. It's quite alright."

He slowly looked up at him. "You sure? I didn't freak you out or anything?"

He shook his head. "Of course not."

The athlete let out a sigh of relief. "Oh thank God." He muttered, resting his head on his boyfriend's shoulder. Spencer wrapped an arm around him, gently rubbing his back. "I swear, I have no control over what I say in my sleep. It's like my brain just does its own thing."

The mathematician chuckled softly. "I've noticed."

"Hey, don't make fun of me!"

Spencer just laughed. "I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. You're adorable when you pout."

"Shut up." Though there was a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of Logan's lips.

The other man simply chuckled and picked his book up again, silently reading and sipping his tea while his boyfriend continued to lay his head on his shoulder, his fingers idly playing with the hem of Spencer's sweater and occasionally watching him flip through the pages.

Spencer was abruptly awoken from his sleep by the sound of commotion next to him. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, slipping his glasses on and looking over to see Logan tossing and turning in his sleep, indicating that he was having a nightmare.

"N-no....... Get away from him...... Please....."

His eyebrows furrowed in concern. He reached over and gently shook him. "Logan, darling. Wake up."

"S-Spencer...... w-wait..... I'm sorry..... I wouldn't say those things ever....." Small tears were beginning to spring into the athlete's closed eyes. "Please...... don't leave me..... It wasn't me, I swear...... Come back......"

Spencer's heart ached at the sound of his boyfriend's distressed pleas. He gently cupped his face, stroking his cheek with his thumb. "Logan, wake up. It's alright. You're just having a bad dream."

His words seemed to have an effect on him, as Logan slowly began to stir. His eyes fluttered open, blinking against the darkness. He looked disoriented for a few moments before his gaze landed on the Brit.

"Sp-Spence?"

"I'm right here, love." The other man reassured him, fingers carding through his hair. "You were having a nightmare. But it's alright, you're safe now."

Logan let out a shaky breath. "Oh God, it felt so real..." He mumbled, burying his face into his boyfriend's neck and hugging him close.

Spencer wrapped his arms around him, holding him tight in a comforting embrace. "Would talking about it help you feel better?"

The swimmer nodded. "I-it was awful, babe... I had a dream where we were back at Stawaki Carnival and it was taking place during the lie detector challenge. The only difference was that I'd gotten kidnapped by an evil clone of me a-and he was super unhappy when you told the truth about how you got Richard eliminated..." He sniffed. "And afterwards, I started joining in on the Spencer Hate train. Hannah made fun of your accent and I told her 'that's just what he sounds like,' a-and you looked so upset and hurt." His lips starts to quiver. "B-but worst of all, I-I said how I wasn't so sure if we were even friends anymore a-and I made a confession about how I wanted you out of the game... A-and the real me couldn't do anything but watch as my evil clone took my place and hurt your feelings... It was awful, Spence... So awful..."

Spencer was taken aback. He tightened his hold. "Logan, listen to me. It was just a dream. You'd never say those things and you'd never hurt me like that."

Logan let out a soft sob. "I-I know, but it just felt so real.... I-I was so scared... I-I thought I was gonna lose you for good... A-and that you'd hate me forever..."

The Brit's heart broke even more. "Shhh, it's alright... It's alright..." He assured him, gently rubbing his back. "I would never hate you, Logan."

He took a few shaky breaths, gradually calming down with the comfort of his boyfriend's words and embrace. "Promise?"

"I promise." Spencer placed a gentle kiss on his forehead. "You're the love of my life. A silly dream won't change how much I care about you."

The swimmer's expression softened, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I love you, Spence."

"I love you too, my dear Logan." The mathematician kissed his forehead once again. "Try to get some more sleep, okay? I'll be right here."

Logan yawned and closed his eyes. "Okay... Night, babe."

"Goodnight." Spencer pulls the blankets up to their shoulders before returning to stroking his boyfriend's hair soothingly.

Within minutes, Logan had drifted back to sleep, the nightmare fading into distant memory. And of course, his regularly scheduled sleep talk episodes returned. "Mmm........ Dani, watch out........ The robo sharks are gonna eat you......"

Spencer chuckled, finding it endearing how Logan's subconscious mind could switch from terrifying nightmares to hilariously bizarre dreams within minutes.

He continued to watch over him, listening to his sleep-induced words and finding amusement in the random nonsense. He couldn't help but adore this quirky side of him, even if it left him scratching his head at times.

Nonetheless, he wouldn't trade this life he has with Logan for the world.

Notes:

That's what episode 17 really was, right? Just a bad dream Logan was having and everything's fine, right? Right?
