(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Are you sure you don’t have anyone to pick you up, Mr. Buckley?”

Buck rubbed his neck, “Yeah, um, I have a place I can probably stay, but they live in California.”

“I assume you’ll be flying there.”

“Yeah, I will.”

“Well then, I hope you have a good flight.”

“Thanks.”

Buck’s hands didn’t stop shaking until he landed at LAX. He booked an Uber and entered Eddie’s address.

Eddie opened the door, “Buck? Hey, what are you doing here? I thought you were still on tour.”

“Hey, Eddie, I- uh. I was discharged and I don’t really have a place yet. I was hoping I could maybe stay with you.”

He opened the door more, “Come in, you can stay as long as you want. Can I ask what happened?”

“There was a grenade and I kinda got blown up,” Buck pulled up his right pant leg, “Got an upgrade, though. Still getting used to it, but I can walk pretty well.”

Eddie breathed in sharply, “Are you alright? What happened after that?”

“Yeah, I’m fine, really. I was in a hospital in New York for a while, then did PT, which I actually need to find a new place.”

“Chris’ PT place is good, they help adults as well.”

“Thank you, Eddie, for all of this.”

“It’s the least I can do after you literally married me after I got injured.”

“You’re my friend, and Chris is the greatest, of course, I would help you both.”

“Then I am more than happy to help you in return.”

“Still, Eds, thank you.”

Eddie glanced at his watch, “I have to go pick up Chris soon, will you be alright here?”

“Yeah, no problem.”

“Alright, the bottom half of the built dresser in my closet is empty, the bedroom’s on the right.”

“I’m not intruding or anything, right? I just, I’m sure I can find somewhere else to stay.”

“No, you are more than welcome here. Chris will be excited to finally meet you.”

“If you’re sure.”

“I am, I’ll be back in 40 minutes.”

After unpacking, Buck lied down on the bed and passed out. He woke up to Eddie’s hand on his shoulder.

“Hey, I thought I would let you sleep, but I ordered pizza if you want any.”

“Thanks, and yeah,” I sat up and our faces were inches away, “Y’know, we never actually talked about it.”

“What part?”

“Any of it.”

“What part do you wanna talk about?”

“I was thinking about the tension.”

“Right.”

“Can I-”

“Yes.”

Buck quickly closed the space between them with a kiss.

“We’re kind of doing this backwards.”

Buck shrugged, “I guess, but why not?”

He shook his head, “Dinner’s ready.”

He kissed Eddie once more before grabbing his leg and walking to the dining room, where he would finally talk to Chris in person.
