When Thad told me he rented a ski lodge, I didn’t believe him. But he said he booked a pretty nice one. Indoor pool, hot tub, we all get separate rooms. He scored big time. The only problem: N was going. I haven’t faced N since we broke up. Not only that, V and Lizzy were going too. I’ve started noticing V more and more, but Lizzy is keeping her all to herself. What a bitch…. But anyways, it’s been a couple months and now that we’re all in the same area, I might want to make a move and talk to N. Make things right between us

“Robo Jesus the slopes are wild!!” Thad yelled running back into the cabin. His hair was powdered all white with snow and he was bundled in tight coats like a bug being squashed
“I’m not going…” Lizzy said tapping away on her phone “I don’t wanna kill myself on a mountain”
“Well you can’t stay in here forever and text your non existent friends!” I snapped
“You little bitch…” Lizzy hissed back
“Okay okay! Break it up!” Thad said
Me and Lizzy’s gaze on each other lingered. Something told me that this wasn’t over
“Whatever…” Lizzy said “I’m just keeping myself safe”
And then, I saw N. He must’ve been in his room because I didn’t see him before. He ran over to Thad and wrapped his arms around him. They both were giggling and whispering to each other. Could it be…? Did N score someone new? I was so distracted that I didn’t even notice V. She was so pretty and effortlessly amazing. But she was with Lizzy
“Hey Uzi!” V suddenly called out. My mind went blank
“V!?” I said surprised “why are you talking to me??”
“I was just going to say that later tonight I was going to hit the hot tub. Wanna join?”
I thought for a moment. Will this be just us? If it’s only us… that might make me nervous
“Is Lizzy going…?” I asked cautiously
“No” V said quickly “she’ll lock herself in her room probably. I don’t even know why she agreed to coming”
I laughed obnoxiously loud, but I caught myself before I could come off as creepy
“Okay then!” I said “I’ll come!”
“Great” V said as she walked away. I stared in awe as V effortlessly walked away with such confidence. I then accidentally caught Lizzy’s gaze and I immediately started staring at the ceiling. Why? I can’t look and V. I can’t look at Lizzy. And I definitely can’t look at N and Thad. So the ceiling it is. Now I just had to count the hours until tonight like a loser

10:30 PM
I paced back and forth in my room. Should I even bother bringing my one piece? Will I just go in wearing my clothes? Will I go in at all?? Why did I say yes? I hate hot tubs anyways. I feel like I’m overheating and my chest starts to cave in
“Y-You’re in… a d-dilemma” Cyn said mockingly
“I’m not going in you creep!” I yelled “I think…”
“Why can’t…….. I come….?” Cyn asked getting close to my face. I hate how she’s still a part of me. She never shuts up
“I’m gonna dismantle you now!”
“O-Okiee”
I put Cyn offline and slowly headed out the door. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this

The air was biting
I felt myself shiver under my hoodie. I walked outside and saw V sitting all alone in the hot tub. She was wearing a one piece. I slowly approached, the steam from the water warming me up
“I came….” I said awkwardly. What was I expecting, I giant party with a freaking sign that read “YOU CAME!!!!” and a cake saying the same thing??
“Oh hey!” V said turning her head “I thought you were gonna chicken out”
“Well I didn’t!” I said sitting on the edge of the hot tub. I looked over at the water temperature, 150 degrees. That’s way too hot for me. But then again, V was in there. Eww! Why did I just think that???
“Come on in!” V said, her voice like a siren song “it’s drone friendly”
“No…” I said “I’m fine. I don’t like hot tubs anyways”
“Really?? Why not?”
“I feel like my chest is caving in. I can’t really breathe…”
“That’s valid. But that’s only if you put it at the max or near max”
“Not for me…”
The was silence between us. The wind started whipping and I shivered once more
“You should come in” V said “you look cold”
“No no no” I said “I’m fine. Besides, I don’t wanna make Lizzy jealous if she decides to come”
“Yeah I don’t think that’s happening…”
“Why not?”
“We broke up before we came here…. She just kept talking about Doll being dead and I couldn’t take it anymore”
“I’m sorry….”
There was another silence. The cold was getting to me. I followed my instincts
“Screw it!” I said unzipping my hoodie (I had a black tank top underneath, relax!) “I’m going in”
“Are you sure??” V said “what about your chest caving in and all that stuff you said before??”
Before I could answer, I was already stepping into the hot tub. I left my hoodie on the stairs as I settled in. After 5 minutes my chest started caving, and V apparently noticed
“Is it too hot?” She asked “I’ll lower the heat. Does 100 sound good?”
I nodded my head as the hot tub beeped while V lowered the temperature. I didn’t cool right away, but I started to feel better. V swam back to her spot and put her arm around me. I didn’t even realize that we were so close!
“Feeling better?” V said leaning closer to me
“Yeah…” I said leaning closer “sort of…”
I caught V staring at my lips. Apparently, so was I. After a little while, our lips met in such crazy fashion. V had placed her hand on my neck while I reached for her waist. She didn’t flinch or pull away, she stayed. It was just us… kissing….
Eventually V pulled away and stared at me. I just stared blankly, completely stunned by what happened
“That was…” my voiced trailed off
“Have you ever tried kissing someone underwater?” V suddenly said. My face burned as I shook my head. V then held my shoulders and led me underwater. I didn’t even last 10 seconds before I immediately surfaced, coughing and sputtering
“Okay never mind then…” V said patting my back “maybe it’s too hot…”
“There’s a pool…” I said, my voice raspy from coughing “drone friendly too. We can go there”
“It’s like you know what I’m thinking!” V said laughing as she kissed me again. She then got out of the hot tub and started walking towards the cabin. I quickly followed after her, grabbing my hoodie and walking behind her

The pool was warm. Heated even. I swam around for a little while, just to get used to the temperature. I felt a lot better knowing that this wouldn’t make my chest hurt. But maybe something else will…. And her name is V
“Heads up!” V yelled as she dove into the water. Gracefully, obviously. I felt her grab my leg and drag me under. I wasn’t completely sure if I could hold my breath underwater. I mean, I was able to breathe in empty space while being on fire…
It was hard keeping myself underwater while being tangled up with V. We kept accidentally bobbing up to the surface, but we kept kissing. Was this how I expected our first kiss to be? Absolutely not, but I didn’t complain. Kissing underwater is weird. It’s slow, delayed almost. But it’s like something out of a movie. It’s beautiful
After about a half hour we were interrupted by someone. We both broke away and stared. It must’ve been the night guard
“We’re closing the pool” he said firmly “wrap it up ladies”
And with that, he left. Me and V looked at each other a laughed. She then got out of the pool and grabbed a nearby towel to dry off
“That was intense…” V said wrapping herself in the towel “maybe we can do it again?”
My core skipped a beat. Thank god I dismantled Cyn before this. This was my chance
“V!” I called out “I really like you…”
V laughed and smiled at me. She. Smiled
“I like you too Uzi” she said walking away “see you tomorrow”
I stayed in the pool for a few more minutes just thinking about what happened. I know I wasn’t supposed to still be here, but that night, this place became our spot. Our spot to escape reality…
