Work Text:
They all suit up for the mission. Bob looks at himself in the mirror, repeating, “I can do it” to his reflection. It’s his first mission in the field since he finally learned how to control his powers. Does he fully trust himself? No, but he does have people who believe in him, and that’s what matters to him. If people he cares about can trust him fully, trust the Sentry, and the Void, then he can have faith in himself, and in what he’s capable of.
He is really stressed; he did some missions before, but he was at the Watchtower. He was their eyes, their ears, he told where the bad guys were. At that time, he wished he could control his powers. He knew he was helping, but his brain was always thinking that he was a burden to the team, that they placed him somewhere to be useful but without any importance. All he wanted was to help them by their side, and today was the day. He tried not to put too much pressure on himself because he didn’t want to screw up. He remembers what Bucky told him a couple days earlier: “No need to put pressure on yourself, no need to be perfect, no one is, just do your best and everything will be fine, we’re here with you, you are not alone, not anymore!”
He closes his eyes, then he takes a big breath before joining the others. Bob opens the door and there he is, Joaquín just stood there, lifts his head while the door opens, and now he is looking without blinking; staring would be the correct word. It takes Bob by surprise, he thought Sam Wilson and his team were joining them on the field, but he’s still happy to see him.
“You’re staring,” murmurs Bob with a small smile.
“No, I’m not.” Joaquín blushed while breaking the stare by looking at the ceiling.
“Yeah, you were.” Bob reaffirmed. It amused him, Bob loves when he surprises Joaquín looking at him.
He knows he does the same, Joaquín always knows when Bob’s watching. The Falcon looks at him probably the same amount of times. They’re just looking at each other; it’s a silent love, but it’s theirs.
Bob already saw Joaquín in his Falcon suit, but he can’t deny that he still loves watching him in it. But this is, in fact, the first time Joaquín saw Bob in the Sentry uniform. It’s been 4 months since they’ve been dating. They did training together, Joaquín helped him control his powers. Joaquín had been dreaming to see it one day, and today his dream came true.
“You don’t like it?” Bob doubted as he furrowed his eyebrows.
“No, I like it!” Joaquín exclaimed.
“Then tell me what is really on your mind.”
“I’ll just say that green and yellow are a great combo,” Bob reddened by that statement, “just like us.” Joaquín flirted.
Their eyes can’t go off each other, they both blushed at that last statement.
Joaquín is still looking, he took a close look at every detail of the suit, and he is thinking about how majestic his boyfriend looks in that golden yellow. Oh, and the cape, Joaquín doesn’t know how to tell how much he loves it.
“Well, actually it’s gold, not yellow, but it still works since the meanings of those colors are pretty similar,” clarified Bob.
“How similar are their meanings?” Joaquín questioned as he put his hands on his own hips.
“Like gold color have a lot of positive meanings, such as optimism, confidence, or even friendliness! Of course, you can feel powerful while wearing it, because it’s close to divinity. It’s very used in religious icons, not only in monotheistic ones, hinduism uses it a lot too. But if there’s positive stuff, there are negative ones too, like it remind, like a, pretentious, arrogant personality. Like yellow, because gold is a yellow, it affects the logical part of our brains, the left part, so it stimulates the entire nervous system.” Bob yapped happily.
“What about green?” asks Joaquín.
“Glad you asked!” trilled Bob, “Green can mean growth, wealth, luck, or even safety, probably because it’s a color that remind nature and its harmony. It’s a very relaxing color, possibly because it affects the right side of our brain, which is connected to our emotions. Unfortunately, the color green also has negative aspects, it is linked to envy, materialism, or even inexperience! But keep in mind that this color can make us feel safe, which I can confirm!”
Joaquín looks at him like he’s his whole world.
“So by standing next to each other, we do stimulate both parts of the brains for everyone who’s looking at us.” smiled Bob. He barely finished his sentence when Joaquín kissed him, both hands around Bob’s neck.
“I love when you talk about stuff you’re interested in, you’re so cute when you explain things.” He tells him as they touch their foreheads.
“Oh! And also, little fun fact, green can also be associated with fertility, which I find very interesting.” Bob exclaimed.
“I bet you found it interesting.” Joaquín kissed him again while teasing him.
Bob and Joaquín finally moved. The Falcon took back his helmet that he had put on the ground earlier, and then, they decided to walk, almost as if they were glued to each other.
“And how do you know all of this?” he asked.
“I read a book about the meaning behind colors.” Bob was really serious; he loved that book.
“Of course you were reading a book about that.” Joaquín giggled.
While they continued to be all flirty whilst joining the others, they were surprised to see both Sam and Bucky in front of them. They even jumped a little.
“Guys, now is not the time to flirt!” announced Sam, crossing his arms. Bucky, behind him, stared at Bob and Joaquín while he silently approved of what Sam said.
“You're totally right, bosses!” They both tried to act serious, but instead, they laughed while following them.
”Hey, could you tell me more about the meaning behind green and gold after the mission?” Joaquín asked, and Bob nodded.
