The master bedroom of Lusamine’s mansion was a battlefield tonight. Lina’s clothes lay across the floor like casualties, champagne bottles cluttered the table, and the air hung thick with faint musk from the previous evening’s fervor.
Lina was sprawled on the bed in just her underwear, her shallow breaths betraying her light sleep. Lusamine, still in that crimson slip that clung to her like a second skin, was curled against her, one arm slung possessively over Lina’s waist. The quiet is broken only by the distant crash of waves and the occasional hum of the mansion’s systems (and maybe Lina’s snores)
Around 3 a.m., Lusamine stirs, her voice cutting through the stillness with a murmured, “Ultra Beast supremacy… the key to evolution…” It’s low, almost theatrical, and it jolts Lina awake.
She props herself on one elbow. Her brow furrowed, a mix of amusement and annoyance. “Fucking—knew it,” she muttered, shaking her head. She reached out, cupping Lusamine’s cheek, her touch gentler than her words. “What am I gonna do with you?”
Lusamine’s face, peaceful in a way Lina rarely saw, softened her irritation. Lina leaned closer, voice dropping to an unguarded whisper. “How do you look this good while acting like a lunatic?” She brushed a stray lock of blonde hair from Lusamine’s face. “I’d jump through an Ultra Wormhole for you. Bet you’ve already got that planned, don’t you?” A soft chuckle escaped her as she pressed a kiss to Lusamine’s cheek.
Then she saw it.
Lusamine’s lips twitched, curling into that sly, infuriating grin. Her emerald eyes fluttered open, glinting with mischief. Lina’s stomach sank.
Lusamine hadn’t been asleep…
“Lina, you absolute darling!” Lusamine purred, her voice cutting through the silence of the night. “I didn’t know you got this… sappy when you thought I wasn’t listening.” She cupped Lina’s face, her touch both tender and teasing, as Lina tried to roll away to hide her burning cheeks.
“Lusamine!” Lina groaned, mortified. “Why—Arceus, why do you always pull this shit?” Her attempt at a glare was pitiful, undermined by her flushed face and tangled hair. “All those mind games are driving me crazy!”
Lusamine’s laugh was light, almost musical, as she stroked Lina’s cheek with her thumb. “No mind games, darling,” she said, her eyes locking onto Lina’s with unnerving intensity. “But… care to repeat that?” She tilted her head, playful yet predatory.
Lina rolled her eyes, fighting a smile. “Take it back, actually. Fuck you AND your Ultra Beasts.” Her tone was sharp, but her gaze betrayed her amusement at Lusamine’s audacity.
Lusamine pulled her closer, lips brushing Lina’s ear. “Liar,” she whispered, her breath warm. “You meant every word.” She nuzzled into the crook of Lina’s neck, inhaling deeply—petrichor, malasadas, antiseptic, and that faint edge of desperation she adored.
Lina sighed, her arms instinctively wrapping around Lusamine’s waist. “If you pull that again, I’ll—”
Lusamine pressed a finger to Lina’s lips, silencing her with a soft “Shh.” “You’ll what? Whisper more sweet nothings? Delightful.” She smirked, nestling closer. “Now sleep. It’s 3 a.m.”
Lina bit her lip, swallowing a retort. Instead, she dug her nails lightly into Lusamine’s waist—a subtle warning. Lusamine’s only response was a contented hum, her smile pressed against Lina’s skin, loving how easily she unraveled her
