Chapter Text
Even though summer break had started and official classes were over, Furin students were still showed up at the school for club practice, study groups, or just hanging out because they felt too boring at home.
That morning, Class 1-A was unusually lively. Not everyone was around, but the usual crew was there, doing what they always did.
“Hey guys! There’s a summer festival at Makochi Park tonight! Who’s coming?” Anzai yelled while fanning with a paper uchiwa.
“Festival?” Tsugeura turned from the back row. “The one with fireworks?”
“Yeah! There’ll be takoyaki, game booths, candy apples… everything!” Anzai grinned.
Nirei raised a hand, eyes bright.
“Been waiting forever for these summer vibes!”
Even Kiryu, glued to a phone game, chipped in,
“I’ll come… if there’s cold watermelon juice.”
Yuri turned from the window.
“Perfect chance to take selfies.”
Kurita, half-asleep on a desk:
“If there’s free food, I’m in.”
“There’s no free food, genius,” Sugishita grumbled — clearly dragged to school for what was supposed to be a “chill day.”
“I’m not joining…” came from the cold rejection.
“Come on, Sugishita! Summer only comes once a year!” Anzai pleaded, all-in.
Suo gave a soft smile, setting down a tea thermos.
“Still… it’d be more fun with everyone. Besides, Umemiya-san would be happy if you go with the classmates.”
Suddenly, Takanashi walked in, dropped a bag on the desk, and casually said:
“Sorry, can’t make it tonight.”
Anzai : “EH??”
Yuri : “Why??”
“Already made plans… with my girlfriend.”
Silence.
Five seconds.
Then—
All : “OOOOHHHHHHHH!!!”
Anzai : “WOOO FLIRTING~”
Yuri : “So this is what betrayal feels like?”
Kurita : “Traitor! We’re all single, man!”
Takanashi just gave a chill smile. “Tough luck, bro.”
Things escalated fast.
Kiryu : “Takanashi left us for love!” While smirking
Tsugeura : “The brotherhood is broken. That’s not a good virtue”
Nirei: “Today is officially Single Awareness Day!” H/J
Sugishita: “Not that I care, but can everyone keep it down?”
Amid all the chaos, Sakura said nothing. But something inside twisted slightly.
The word “girlfriend” sparked something.
A calm, teasing voice echoed in memory the moment a warm omurice was placed on a table at Pethos Café.
Sakura stood up abruptly.
“Not going to the festival tonight.”
Anzai : “Huh?? Why not?”
Sakura : “Got something to do.”
Without another word, Sakura walk out from the classroom door. Red in the face but still walking like nothing could touch that pride.
Once the door shut, the rest of the group went quiet.
Kiryu glanced at Anzai.
Anzai locked eyes with Nirei.
Yuri was already recording reactions.
The mission was on.
“Plan A: Sakura said there’s something to do.”
“Plan B: We know exactly who that ‘something’ is.”
“Plan C: We follow tonight at the festival.”
“Operation: SPY ON SAKURA.”
Sugishita: “…Please don’t drag me into this.”
