Snapshots

Summary:

Post-canon drabbles that I might update from time to time if I don't feel like working on any particular fic. VioletViolence centric, but I'll still touch up on the other characters and some splits from canon from time to time ;3

There's a loose continuity, but most chapters can be read on their own. No update schedule though and this isn't my primary focus, so youll get new stuff when you get it

Work Text:

Six months.

It had been six months since the Solver had been eliminated.

For Uzi Doorman, a lot has happened leading up to that moment. She’d experienced grief, hate, envy, fear ...

The Exponential End had nearly ruined her life, on multiple occasions. It was a miracle her trauma repression subroutines weren’t overloaded with data during that time. If she had made one wrong move that entire time, one fuck up of any sort, it would have sealed the fate of the countless denizens on Copper-9, herself included.

But it wasn’t all bad, she supposed. Without the Absolute Solver, she wouldn’t have met her friends. Her girlfriend. She would’ve likely stayed a loner forever, most likely.

For Uzi Doorman, despite everything, she was able to find acceptance. Confidence, maturity, wisdom, love ...

A snowball smacked the back of her head, shaking her out of her brooding. Not expecting this surprise attack (as well as the betrayal – she had already made a guess as to who the culprit was), Uzi allowed herself to slump forwards, slowly sliding down the hood of what was once a car and plopping down into the powdery snow.

She sat up, shaking her head from side to side, hoping to rid of any snow that decided to cling onto her chassis for whatever reason. “V! I was brooding !!”

The drone in question was feigning innocence, leaning against a wall of misshapen concrete and rebar. V was looking away innocently, before her gaze landed on Uzi as if she was surprised that the emo would even accuse her of such a crime.

“What, me ? I’ve no idea what you’re talking about,” she defended herself, though the Cheshire grin spread across her face betrayed what V had been thinking. Not that she really made an effort to hide it, anyways.

BITE ME, you stupid... sexy, murder drone! You KNOW how important it is that I do this!!”

Uzi, though genuinely upset that she was interrupted, knew that she couldn’t stay mad for long and the feigned anger lacing her words was quickly disposed of. She rose up and dusted her jacket off to hopefully rid of any remaining snow, black combat boots sinking into the ground beneath her as she took long strides to meet with her girlfriend.

V had stood there waiting, her arms crossed and crowned with the smuggest expression Uzi had ever seen in her entire life. “You’ve been brooding for a while, Bats. Not sure you would’ve even gotten up if I didn’t throw that at’cha,” V teased.

Uzi flashed her fangs, the curvature of her mouth turning upwards. “Awh, you care for me that much?”

V leaned down, planting her silicone lips against the engineer’s, one of her hands cupping Uzi’s face. A few seconds pass before the taller drone pulled away, leaving Uzi slightly flustered at the sudden kiss. It wasn’t unwelcome, though.

Someone has to, y’know~” V replied in a sing-songy tone, habitually shifting most of her weight onto one leg.

Uzi snorted, before taking V’s other hand into her own. “Robo-God, to think it was you who I fell for, you big dork,” she barked playfully.

The pair of drones began walking away from the rusted car frame. V had flicked her head upwards, keeping her chin raised. “Don’t pretend you wouldn’t have it any other way, ‘zi,” she said, which earned her a playful elbow into her midsection.

“Pfft, like you weren’t the one that asked me out first ,” Uzi reminded, fondly looking back on that memory.

V’s laugh was rough, though playful. “After everything we’ve been through? How could I not ?”

The two had passed by more remnants of the human society as they kept walking and bantering with each other as they continued their return trip to Outpost 3. They soaked in the moonlight, and Uzi would wish that this moment could last forever.
