Work Text:
Wet dog, scorched rubber and the distinct smell of somebody in serious want of a bath.
Kat’s eyes flickered open, screwing up her nose in disgust at the smell and blocking the sunlight from her eyes, her mouth dry and acidic with alcohol.
‘Mornin’’
She lifted her eyes to his, to be met with the beaming smile of a bedraggled Alfie Moon who was sat on the edge of the bed.
‘I made breakfast. Fry up, all the trimmings.’
Suddenly she heaved. Last night’s overindulgence threatening to reappear.
‘Woah, something I said?’
‘Well maybe if you hadn’t gone off on a jolly around London leaving me here like some sort of lemon I wouldn’t have had to have the second bottle. Never had a bloke leave just as we were getting to the good bit.’
‘I..’
‘Just popping out you said and next thing I know it’s morning
‘I know, and I’m sorry, I was trying to find.. You know..’
‘Yeah right.’ She bolted upright, feeling around the bed for her clothes, clutching her skirt.
‘You know, you could have just told me, you didn’t have to humiliate me.’
‘Humiliate you? I made you breakfast. What are you on about.’ He rose from the bed and looked at her incredulously.
‘If you changed your mind you should have just said. I’m a big girl, I’l get over it.’ Kat leaned over the bed, grasping for the rest of her clothes.
‘Change my mind! SAS training would have been easier than what I went through last night to get that’ he started to gesticulate wildly, pointing at the condom in the champagne class. ‘I’ve been robbed, run over, arrested and went for a dip in the canal, and they call it safe sex.’ He hissed.
Her eyebrow quirked.
She barked out a laugh ‘you what?’
He quirked an eyebrow.
‘What really?’ She smirked,
‘Yes really.’ He snapped.
She began with a chuckle which developed into a cackle
‘Oh cheers’ he smirked, relaxing once again and sitting back on the edge of the bed.
‘You alright?’
‘I’m fine, just a bit tender.’
‘Oh yeah?’ She quirked an eyebrow at him.
‘Yeah.’ He smiled down at her playfully. ‘You know I did manage to find..’ he gestured over to the glass.
‘So I hear.’ She lifted her chin towards him in challenge, her green eyes lidded as her gaze dropped to his lips. She grasped his shirt, pulling him down to her. ‘You smell like you’ve slept in a doorway for the past 6 months.’
‘Hmm, maybe I should shower first,’ he grinned pulling away. She nodded.
‘I’ll be waiting. Don’t fall down the plug hole.’
