Work Text:

It was so loud.

Everything was so loud.
People running, screaming and crying as they desperately fought for their lives. Thick clouds of dust as smoke infested Roiers vision as he clawed around the ruined island.

Purgatory had never been a pleasant place, him and his friends being pinned against eachother, forced to fight and spill eachothers blood without a second thought, but there was always a dull comfort in the back of Roiers mind as he knew Cellbit was never too far.

Cellbit was the light in his storm, the reason that life on purgatory wasn't entirely miserable and Roier would be eternally greatful for the warmth Cellbit brought to his days without even realising it.

But now?
Cellbit was no where to be seen.
Vanished from Roiers view which only left a frantic panic in his chest as he blurred out the rest of reality around him.
Nothing else mattered,
No one. Else. Mattered.
He needed to find cellbit, no matter what but the constant shoving he was receiving as people tried to escape wasn't helping.

He felt tears fill his eyes as he yelled Cellbits name,
Was he calling for him?
He couldn't even hear his own voice over the panic and if he couldn't there was no way Cellbit could.

Roier didn't know what to do,
He almost considered just sitting in the wreckage in hopes his love would come for him. However before he could even consider the option, he crashed into a figure, falling over his own feet as they both hit the floor.

"Roier? Mate are you okay? Are you hurt?"

He recognised that voice. Philza, who was staring up at him with a concerned expression engraved into his features.

"Yeah- I.. yeah I'm okay.."

He stumbled over his words as Phil pulls him to his feet with urgency. He had a firm grip on Roiers arms with a hidden determination that almost grounded Roier. Made him believe that maybe everything would be alright.

"We have to go, there's a boat. We need to get out of here, we don't have time."

Phils grip switches to one of his arms, rather than both as he's pulled through the wreckage and ruin filling the island and into the direction of the boat and other players stumbling towards it.

"What? A boat? We're leaving- but we can't I need to find Cellbit!"

A deep warranted emotion laced Roiers voice in an almost plead for Phil to let him continue looking for his husband but Phil didn't slow down. Not even for a moment.

"Hes probably on the boat already, Roier. We don't have time, we either leave now or we don't leave at all."

A void sank in Roiers stomach. A pit of something unexplainable as his chest clenched, smoke, dust and oxygen getting trapped in his lungs as Phil continued forwards, pulling Roier close behind him as he ensured both of their safety from the crumbling island.

The boat was visible in the distance and Roier watched as his friends and recent enemies climbed onto the floating metal in a hurry but as they approached, closer and closer, there was still no sign of Cellbit. All he could do was hope and pray that he had already made it on before the rest of them had arrived but the closer he got, the more the pit of dread in his stomach chewed at his insides.

Roier pulls himself up onto the boat with help from Phil who rubs his arm in an attempt of some kind of comfort. However that's not what Roier was focused on as he pushes past Philza, running around the boat as he called out desperately.

"Cellbit? Please- where are you!?"

A choked sob erupts from the back of his throat. Painful and violent as he throws himself around the boat in an almost pathetic attempt to find his husband.

"Cellbit!? Cellbo- gatinho please!"

He pulls up his communicator after completing a full sweep of the ship, sending out a private message to cellbits own device.

"Where are you, gatinho? Please I need you, where are you!"

He typed quickly, messily and almost incoherently as he stares down with an unwavering eye at the device strapped to his wrist.

Nothing.

For what felt like hours, nothing and no response and definitely no reassurance and it only worsens when the notification he had been waiting so anxiously for finally arrives.

This couldn't be happening.
This couldn't possibly. Be happening,
Not to him. Not to cellbit.

Because as he looks down at his communicator all he is rewarded with is a simple.

'Adios, Guapito.'

Those 2 words were enough to bring his whole world crashing down.
The boat had already begun its departure as if they spent any longer stalling the rest of them would be dead too.

Roier paled as hot tears began streaming down his face and he ran, stumbling towards the railings of the boat. He clawed at the bars climbing up to pull himself over, off the boat to go find cellbit. He couldn't leave him behind.
But the fight was in vain as Phil pulled him back onto the boat, holding Roier tightly to his chest as his violent sobs soaked the avians shirt.

"Please, not him. Not cellbit and Bobby both.."

Roier held a strong grasp on the back of Philzas shirt that was sure to leave it wrinkled but Phil wouldn't dare speak of it. He couldn't bring himself to care about something so meaningless at a time like this.

Philza hugged Roier close as he gave up his fight, slumping against the Avian in his own self pity. A tear stained face with new tears falling down by the second.
How was he supposed to carry on if everything that meant something was now gone?

"What do I do Phil, I cant--.. he was everything- all i had how could I possibly.."

He interrupted himself with another sob as Phil offers quiet comforting words that he almost knew Roier would be phasing out.

Roier lifted his head from Phils shoulder. Blurry eyes looking at the wreckage of the island as they became more distant by the second and for a moment, Roier was almost sure he saw Cellbit standing atop a cliff, waving goodbye.

This wouldn't be their last meeting..
Because if he knew cellbit, then he knew he would do anything to get back home,

But until then, the haunting sounds of death would plague his mind with no mercy and no cure. And with his husbands absence his life had lost its meaning.
