Work Text:
Kara was floating just out of sight above the balcony that jutted out proudly from the towering building of L-Corp within the centre of National City, she opted to not wear her super suit since it was just Lena and Jess working away and while this most certainly qualified as an emergency it wasn’t a super one.
Hovering slowly into view she landed softly and slid open the door, Kara started speaking as she entered but she only voiced two words before Lena swung her arm up and cut her off. “Lena sweetheart-“
“Darling, Jess and I are in the middle-“ Lena’s interrupt was stopped by her wife as she ran her hand through her hair and sighed heavily earning a surprised expression from Lena. Kara’s news couldn’t wait it seems.
The Kryptonian spoke matter-of-factly. “We have to go to the police station, our daughters have been arrested for vandalising their school.”
Lena looked at Kara like she was crazy before turning to Jess with an apologetic look. “Can we finish this later?”
Jess waved her hand in front of herself. “Go, I’ll focus on this and we can go over it tomorrow.”
Smiling gratefully Lena stood up and turned to Kara. “Daughters plural?”
Nodding as she answered Kara laughed a little to herself. “It seems Elizabeth convinced Lori that the best way to get back at a bully was to break in after school and fill their locker with silly string and shaving cream.”
Jess laughed as she overheard Kara’s admission of the Luthor-Danvers daughters, the assistant struggled to grab some papers from her giggling as she packed away everything, once she got hold of them though she turned and pointed to Kara. “And Elizabeth went quietly?”
Stumbling over her words as the blonde got defensive Lena jumped to her wife’s rescue resting her hand on Kara’s own. “Even Elizabeth knows the trouble that would cause…” She paused before turning to Kara. “Although if any of the police insult her hair she might.”
Kara groaned at the idea. “I should never have agreed, emerald looks good in your eyes not her hair.”
Lena blushed and pecked her wife on the cheek with her lips. “Are you going to tell our daughter that?”
Kara turned slightly pale at Lena’s suggestion. “Oh no, I’m not that brave. I’ve seen how much of your genes she’s gotten, she’d freeze me in Kryptonite if I suggested a different colour.”
Sighing Lena turned to Jess and joked. “You have one messy breakup and she never lets you live it down.”
Her assistant betrayed her. “Does it count as a breakup if you weren’t dating and suck at communication.”
Hearing Kara’s laugh caused Lena to stomp her foot. “You’re both traitors.”
Pulling her closer Kara apologised by kissing Lena’s cheek. Lena was surprised as Kara led her towards the elevator rather than back out towards the balcony. “I know I dislike flying but this is our daughters’.”
Kara smiled as she pushed the button summoning the elevator. “Exactly, they can stew in there for a little longer.”
Laughing at her wife Lena apologised to the pouting Kara. “Sorry darling but you know I’m the bad cop and you’re the good cop but it’s sweet your trying… Hang on a minute why did they call you?”
Kara mumbled under her breath about how she could be a bad cop before turning to Lena. “Because they knew you and Jess were prepping for a big meeting and Supergirl is off duty today.”
Pushing Kara’s shoulder with her own Lena shook her head in disbelief. “No it's more like they thought you’d swoop in to free them and somehow get you to agree to not tell me.”
“Ha as if I could keep anymore secrets from you and besides it’s an important milestone, picking them up from the police station. Thank god the school isn’t pressing charges.”
“Only because they know who paid for the new science block.”
Jess looked back at the heartfelt bickering couple arguing playfully about different parenting styles and as the elevator doors slid closed the dutiful assistant couldn’t help laughing to herself. “They’re both so whipped.”
Her phone pinged and it was a message from Kara.
Whipped? Your still upset about me rushing past you when you were a receptionist!
Jess shook her head in disbelief at the message and spook out loud. “PRIVACY KARA! And in my defence I thought you were just a reporter.”
