Chapter Text

The biggest thing you know about yourself, is that you were always made for display.

Sometimes on screens.

Or the theater.

or movies.

Just anywhere with an audience made you feel seen. Made you belong.

Even if it wasn’t actually “you”, and it was just another porcelain clown, sometimes it’s just nice thinking someone like you finds themselves on top.

At least, you were on top in other ways. You once sat upon the top shelf, simply staring at the world below. The screen that garnered all the attention in the classroom was brought in one day, giving life to your empty world. Being an audience member was nice for a while, until somehow, you found yourself among the stars. Eventually, getting to know a certain someone, the TV, the host behind the children’s entertainment.

He was a charming host from what you remember, beaming with enthusiasm and pride in his work. He struck you as someone who truly loved his job, and displayed a sense of fake confidence that fooled pretty much anyone. And on that particular day, you joined him.

You’ve never had to perform as much as you did on set before, but although you were just a guest star, you soon found yourself displaying the same fake confidence behind a cheery, permanent smile, with a hint of genuine joy. You loved every bit of it. Every moment spent with him, and the audience, and any other stars that were brought to the show, it was all a blast.

Nowadays though, you watch over your new Lightner friend as they long for the same dream as you once did. They had a wonderful voice, one that would boost the ratings of anything on screen, but like you, they didn’t come with the confidence nor belief they’ll really get anywhere.

It was just another day of being on the floor of their room. Once again longing, but they were awfully bored. You wish you could give them something to cheer them up, until a knock at the door comes. There, two other Lightners stood there, with someone familiar in hand. As the two placed him down, you felt the past come flooding back.

And now, here you were. In front of the giant building with the “TV Time!” Logo blaring in all its splendor, but you know for certain that you needed to catch up with him. See what changed since the last time you saw him. After all, you too, have changed possibly just as much as him.
