Work Text:

The moon hung low over the tranquil lake, casting silvery ribbons of light that danced upon the lotus blossoms. The water shimmered like a mirror of glass, reflecting the star-studded sky—a universe of infinite possibilities and silent secrets. The gentle rustling of leaves whispered lullabies, but within Dech’s chest, a storm brewed—a whirlwind of emotions he could no longer contain.

He sat alone on the wooden pier, eyes fixed on Mek. Mek was talking animatedly to a merchant, laughter spilling from his lips, his hand gesturing passionately, and his eyes glimmered as he was engrossed in the conversation.

Dech’s jaw clenched involuntarily. The sight was like a dagger twisting in his heart.

Why him? Dech thought bitterly. Why does he laugh so freely with that man? It does not seem like friendship at all.

His fists curled into tight balls, nails digging into his palms. His skin turned red due to the impact. The ache of jealousy was a beast gnawing at his insides, threatening to consume him.

He had never felt this way before—not so fiercely, not so painfully. The love he harbored for Mek was a delicate flower, fragile yet fiercely possessive.

The scene felt like a storm cloud gathering in the calm sky of his heart, darkening everything. The dark clouds, heavy with emotions, threatened to burst at any point. He tried to look away, but his eyes were drawn back, watching Mek’s carefree expression, the way his eyes sparkled with warmth—like sunlight filtering through the lotus leaves.

Suddenly, Mek turned, catching sight of Dech. Their eyes met across the distance, and Mek’s face lit up with a smile that made Dech’s stomach tighten. He could feel that Mek was approaching him.

He quickly looked away, pretending to be absorbed in the shimmering water. His voice, when he finally spoke, was hoarse, strained with unspoken emotion.

“Why are you always talking to him?” Dech’s voice cracked, more rough than he intended. “You’re supposed to be here with me.” He did not intend to be this harsh with Mek, but he felt like he had to get his feelings out to soothe the burning sensation within his heart.

Mek hesitated, then approached cautiously. “Dech, I was just—”

“Just what?” Dech interrupted sharply, his voice tinged with jealousy. “Just passing time? Playing with others while I sit here, waiting?”

Mek’s brow furrowed, confusion flickering across his face. “Dech, I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I was just talking. You know I don’t mean anything by it.” He was surprised as to what had caused such a sudden change in Dech’s behavior.

Dech’s eyes flashed with a mix of pain and anger. “You don’t mean anything?” he echoed bitterly. “That’s what you say, but I see the way you look at them. Like they’re more than just friends. Like they’re special to you.”

Mek’s face fell, and he looked away, his voice trembling. “Dech… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you feel like that. But I’m not doing anything wrong. I care about you—more than anyone else.”

Dech’s fists clenched tighter, trembling. “Care? That’s what you call it? I see how your eyes light up when you talk to others. Do you even realize how it feels to watch the one I love smile at someone else, as if I don’t exist?”

Mek’s eyes widened in hurt. “Dech, I’m not trying to hurt you. I… I just enjoy talking to people. I didn’t know it would upset you so much.”

Dech took a step closer, voice low and trembling with emotion. “It’s not just about talking. It’s about knowing that I’m the one who matters most to you. But right now, I feel like I’m losing you.”

Mek looked down, ashamed. “Dech, I never meant to hurt you. I… I care for you more than I can say. But I can’t control how I feel about others either. I don’t want to lose what we have.”

Dech’s heart pulsed painfully. His voice broke slightly. “I love you, Mek. But this jealousy… it’s eating me alive. I can’t stand seeing you so close to someone else—feeling like I am nothing compared to them.”

Mek stepped forward, reaching out to grasp Dech’s hand. “Dech, I never wanted to make you feel this way. Please… don’t let this jealousy ruin us. I love you, and I want us to be honest with each other. I promise I will be more careful. Just… don’t push me away because of this pain.”

Dech looked into Mek’s eyes, searching for reassurance, for some sign that their love could survive this storm. His voice was shaky but resolute. “If you truly love me, then you’ll understand. I don’t want to be just a mere piece in your life. I want to be your everything.”

Mek’s eyes shimmered with tears, and he nodded. “You are my everything, Dech. I swear it.”

Dech’s shoulders sagged as the tension broke like a dam. He pulled Mek into a tight embrace, feeling the warmth of his body against his own, the heartbeat that echoed with their shared longing. His heart ached to remove all the barriers and all the turmoil that had existed between them.

Then, in that moment—their faces inches apart—Dech’s hand cupped Mek’s cheek. The night was alive with stars, the water reflecting their trembling hearts. With a deep, trembling breath, Dech leaned in slowly, closing the distance between them.

Their lips met in a kiss that was fierce, desperate, and tender all at once—an unspoken vow of love amid the silent symphony of moonlight and water. The world around them dissolved into a canvas of shimmering silver, where only their shared breath and beating hearts existed.

The kiss was like the first flower blooming after a harsh winter—raw, intense, and full of promise. Dech’s hands gently cradled Mek’s face, holding him as if he could make time stand still. Mek responded instinctively, his arms wrapping around Dech, pulling him closer.

As they finally parted, their foreheads pressed together, Dech whispered hoarsely, “No matter what, I’ll fight for us. I won’t let anyone tear us apart. You’re mine, Mek. And I am yours.”

Mek looked into Dech’s eyes, a fragile smile on his lips. “And I will love you, no matter what storms come our way.”

The night sky stretched above, an endless canvas of stars witnessing their vow—two souls entangled, fighting through the darkness to find the dawn of forever.
