Chapter Text
[Author's note: The setting is the same as in game with MC (you) working at a store n allat. Also this will be the first time I use the second person in a fic for non-dialogue purposes. ALSO I don't really know a lot of stuff about Damon, except from what I (vaguely) remember from the game, so I would like to apologize for inaccuracies

Your shift was ending in about thirty minutes, but and you were hella bored, and extremely tired, and done with people, and wanted to go home. After all, nobody came in the store for hours, and when they came, they were all assholes. Except for a few regulars, of course. But that didn't change the fact that you spent the last three hours in an empty store. Heck, why do you even have to stay here for so long if there's barely anyone coming? Why can't the store just close at a reasonable hour? But alas, here you are.
Out of boredom, you opened a pack of Skittles (that you paid for, of course, you're not going to steal from your own workplace) and poured it on the counter, then started sorting the candy based on colors. Still, that didn't keep you entertained for long enough, so you started "drawing" with the Skittles, making random patterns and childish flowers with them.
This new activity actually turned out to be so captivating that your brain didn't even register when the door's bell rang. Or when Damon walked into the store. Or when he called your name a few times. Gladly, you finally snapped out of your daydreaming when he tapped your wrist lightly to get your attention. He also scared the living shit out of you, causing you to almost jump through the ceiling. But that's irrelevant, now, isn't it.
"A-ah, sorry to startle you, I didn't mean to-"
"No, no, no, it's fine. It's my fault for zoning out. Uhm, do you need anything?"
Damon, who was staring lovingly at your silly Skittle drawings (his oh-so-gentle gaze made you embarrassed to the point where it took all of your willpower to not swat the candy off the counter) snapped out of admiring the product of your boredom and looked around frantically for a bit, trying to find an excuse to be there.
"Yeah, I'll have a pack of gum"
He stutters, grabbing the first thing he saw on the shelf by the counter and handing it to you. You scan it, and he pays with the spare change in his pockets.
"Anything else?"
"Yes, I wanted to ask you something..."
He was meaning to ask you out, but his shyness overpowered his will.
"... You seem tired, have you been sleeping well?"
The fact that he noticed you were a bit more groggy than usual made your heart flutter a bit, but you brushed it off.
"Not really, I couldn't really sleep lately..."
You don't understand why, but you feel like that made Damon get extremely uneasy. Which would be correct. After all, he HAD been breaking into your apartment almost every night recently, so the thought that he might had disturbed your sleep sent chills down his spine. What if you woke up while he was there one night?
"... I've been falling asleep at reasonable hours and didn't get any notable nightmares, but I've been waking up pretty early, which sucks. "
A wave of relief washed over Damon. While he did feel bad for you, he was also glad he didn't interfere with your sleep.
Suddenly, an ideea springs into his mind. It was very risky, but it could work. It could actually work quite well.
"I'm really sad to hear that... Hey, me, DG and one of his friends wanted to have a sleepover at my place, would you like to tag along? Maybe it could help you sleep"
Damon felt his heart thump in his throat with excitement and fear. The seconds it took you to answer felt like hours to him, every moment without an answer feeling like a rejection.
"Sure, why not, sounds fun!"
These five simple words made Damon feel like he could fly. Sure, if you ran into DG and talked to him about it, Damon's plans would be absolutely ruined, just like his chances to ever get close with you. Still, there was hope, and that was all he needed.
"That's great! Are you free at eight?"
"Yeah, my shift ends in about ten minutes"
"Alright, I can come pick you up... From here, I mean. Is 19:30 okay?" He asks, trying to ignore the fact that he almost hinted he knows he knows where you live. But of course, since you were tired and dreamy, you didn't even realize.
"Oh, don't bother, I can take the bus. Where do you live?"
He feels a bit sad that you didn't want to come with him, but it would be useless to insist, especially considering that the two of you will be spending the entire night together anyway. That thought alone fills his heart with excitement.
He tells you his address and then happily exits the store, going home. Only after he gets out he realized he lost the opportunity to walk you home, if only had he waited 10 more minutes, but he tries to comfort himself with the thought that you might've found it creepy if he'd done that.
