Chapter Text

Starlight glimmer sat alone at the Hay Burger, tapping her hoof on the table. For the last ten minutes, she had been waiting for her friend, Maud pie, to meet her here. While observing the busy restaurant, and glancing at the door every 10 seconds to see if Maud had arrived, she had grown impatient.

Starlight sighed, resting her head on the table. “Excuse me, would you like me to take your order?” Raising up her head again, she saw a yellow mare with dazzling blue eyes. “No thank you,” Starlight dismissed her, then paused. “Actually, do you think you could just get me a glass of water? Sorry, im waiting for somepony and they are running a bit late. “No problem” Starlight turns her gaze back down to the table.

Perhaps Maud had decided to stop being her friend, or maybe pinkie had told her about her past, and the village. Starlight would not have blamed her, if she learned somepony was a cult leader who magically stole ponies cutie marks and forced them to all be the same, taking away their special talents, and ruining lives-! she would not want to be their friend either.

Suddenly, the doorbell rung and she looked up, to see just the pony she was waiting for. Snapping out of her edgy moment, she beamed and started waving for Maud. “Maud! Over here!” Maybe she was a bit too loud, as some ponies looked her way. Oops. Maud sat right down next to her. “Im sorry I am late, me and Pinkie were doing something involving… rocks.” Starlight giggled. “Wow, you are like, the only pony I’ve ever met that was such a fan of rocks. Well, you are the only pony i have ever met that was a fan of rocks at all.” Maud let out a small hum of acknowledgment, and then turned to face the waiter.

“Hello ladies, are you ready to order your drinks?” Starlight had been too busy with maud to notice her. “Im good,” Starlight turned to her friend “Anything you would wanna drink?” Maud thought for a moment. “Just some tea please.” The waiter walked away, and eventually came back with both of their drinks.

Maud took a sip of her tea, then gazed at starlight. “You seem unusually cheery today.” Starlight blinked. Had she been? “Oh yes, well, Twilight is letting me be her temporary-assistant-teacher, back at the school of friendship.” Maud nodded. “Im happy for you.” Starlight gave a soft smile ,then remarked

“You know, you seem VERY cheery today as well, like, you are practically bursting with excitement.” Maud’s eyes sparkled with amusement “I just finished making rock candy necklaces with Pinkie, which was the reason i was late. Apparently we have to make S.S.S.G.N.” Starlight tilted her head in confusion.

“Super Special Sister Goodbye Necklaces, it took an extra 10 minutes.”

Starlight let out a small chuckle.

“Ready for me to take your order ladies?” Maud turned to the waitress

“I’ll have a salad, what about you?” She asked starlight. “I’ll just have a hay burger.” The waitress jotted down their orders on her notepad. “Coming right up!”

Starlight and Maud’s conversation went on for a while, and eventually came to a topic she was not a fan of. “When i gave you the directions to that rock you could store cutie marks in, how did you seal them in there? The stone alone was not strong enough for that.” Starlight smile faltered. “Oh it’s sort of hard to explain..” Maud eyes widened a bit when she realized it was a sensitive topic for her. “You don’t have to talk about this.” Starlight sighed. “It’s fine, it just wasn’t my proudest moment in life.” Maud reached over and rested her hoof on Starlight’s. “Thats in the past.”

Next, they decided to go to the park and fly kites, look for rocks, talk, just hang out really. “You know,” Starlight mentioned, flying her kite into the air. “I have gotten more into kite designing recently, it’s really interesting and it can get pretty complex when it comes to color palettes and such.” Starlight blushed “Sorry, I know thats a bit boring.” Maude shook her head in disagreement. “Kites are pretty cool.”

The two ponies sat in silence, laying down in the grass with maud’s hoof running through and playing with Starlight’s hair. It was great like this, how they could understand each other, without having to talk, stressing over what to say next. Maud liked it too, probably, since she has not said anything for the past five minutes. Starlight yawned, turning her head to the other pony. “The stars are very beautiful tonight.” Maud hummed in agreement, and moved in closer to Starlight. The two were pretty much just cuddling now, embraced in each other’s warmth to help battle the cold night.

Maud’s face looked breathtaking in the moonlight, her eyes glistened and her eyelashes also looked great- she will have to ask maud about her lash care.

Starlight turned to Maud a soft grin on her lips, who was, surprisingly, returning the smile. Starlight let out a breath, and slowly leaned into Maud.

When she realized the other pony was doing the same, she closed her eyes and kissed her.

Chapter Text

Twilight is a smart person, she is in AP classes, she has never gotten less than an A on an assignment, she is the perfect example of someone book-smart. Although, despite her intelligence, Twilight has always struggled with one thing, other people. For most of her life, Twilight has only been friends with teachers, family, and her dog. Don’t take that the wrong way, she loves them all dearly, but she had always wanted a friend that was someone her age. Thankfully she’s met this girl.

She is still not here yet.

Twilight sighed, staring down at her phone. Sunset shimmer had promised to meet up with her at her lab, (Her parents basement) and still had not gotten here yet. Of course, Twilight does not mind that much, she is not an impatient person, but still, she had really been wanting to show someone her newest invention. It would impress her quite a bit! And also maybe be pretty useful.

Suddenly, her phone beeps with a notification sound.

“almost there, like 5 more mins :]”

Twilight set down her phone, and looked around the room.

If she was going to have company, she might as well make it look a little nicer.

After cleaning her lab (Really just polishing the metal on her newest creation) The sound of a doorbell rang through the house.. Just on time!

Running up the stairs the basement, she quickly made her journey to the front door. Opening it, she locked eyes with her friend and smiled.

“Sunset! its great to see you.” She smiled and shook the other girls hand

“Good to see you too, Twi.” Sunset stepped inside. “You said you wanted to show me something you made.” Twilight nodded, taking her hand and dragged her to the lab. Sunset blushed a bit at that.

Once they arrived there, she let go of sunsets hand. Sunset slowly walked down the stairs, got a look around, then chuckled awkwardly .

“Is this your basement?”

Twilight frowned a bit, annoyed, then replied “I call it my lab.”

Sunset eyes widened “Right, sorry.”

The room was dimly lit, and rather messy. All across the room were half finished experiments, as well as metal and wire scraps. The air was a bit musky, and there were several burn marks on the floor. Jeez, Twilight really needed to clean up in here.

She had been ignoring the elephant in the room, figuratively speaking. Two giant pods with clear windows, wait, they had handles as well, so clear doors, sat across from each other on opposite sides of the room. The pods let out a bit of light from the inside, as well as a faint buzzing sound. The metal structure was plugged into the wall with a crap ton of wires. Yikes, the electricity bill must be no joke.

Twilight cleared her throat, grabbing Sunsets attention back to her. “Well, im sure you noticed them already, but these are what i call, tele-pods. I’ll demonstrate.” Twilight took sunsets hand and held it in her palm. “Here, i need something- an object from you, for the demonstration.” Sunset looked down, searching her pockets. Although she trusted Twilight, she did not want to use anything too important to her. Oh- her glove would be good!

Slipping off her glove, Sunset handed it to twilight, who took it and placed it down in one of the tele-pods. Sunset perked an eyebrow, suspicious. “So, why do you need my glove?” Twilight had started typing into some machine, “Well,” She grinned “You will see.” Suddenly the tele pod dinged, and its door closed. A bright blast of light went off in the machine, and the glove was gone.

“What- where did it go?” Sunset exclaimed, a teensy bit mad that her glove was nowhere to be seen.” Twilight smirked, then walked over to the second pod at the other side of the room. Giving a bow, she opened its door, and revealed the glove, in perfect condition. “And.. Ta-Da! My magic trick is complete.. Well it’s not actual magic of course but y’know.” Sunset gave a beaming grin “Thats amazing, Twilight!” she ran over to give her friend a hug.

Twilight got a bit flustered at that. “Hah, thank you” she chuckled awkwardly “Ive been working on it for a while now.” Sunset, noticing the other’s discomfort, let go of her. “Yeah- uh, sorry about that, i should have asked before..” Twilight hugged Sunset back, earning a gasp from the other girl “Hey it’s good…” There was an awkward pause, before Twi asked “Wanna go get a cup of coffee?”
