"I'm Hoppy Hopscotch, queen of the world!"
The little green bunny giggled quietly to herself as she stood atop the highest tower she could find in the playground. She was amazed at just how high up she'd gotten, almost as high as the tops of the trees. Bobby and Catnap stared up at her, beaming with pride. "Way to go, baby!" Bobby shouted. "You're on top of the world!" "Can you see our house from up there?" Catnap asked. Hoppy jumped up on the railing and scanned the landscape, locating it with relative ease. "Yeah! It's alll the way over there!" She exclaimed in reply, pointing excitedly towards the house the critters shared together.
"Alright, sweetie, we're gonna go and find Dogday now. Think you can handle yourself while we're gone?" Catnap asked, raising a brow with a smirk on his face. Hoppy slid down to them. "Psh! Of course I can!" She replied confidently, putting her paws on her hips and puffing out her chest proudly. "I'm a big girl!" Bobby melted at this, pulling the bunny into a tight hug and smothering her in kisses. "Yes you are! Yes you are!" She repeated. Hoppy groaned as she was finally let out of the embrace. "Mamaaaaaa," she whined, "you're embarrassing me!" Bobby rolled her eyes. "Well, I don't see anyone else around to giggle or gawk, so I think it's perfectly fine."
And with that, the two caregivers headed off to find their canine companion, leaving Hoppy to her own devices.
There was no shortage of entertainment for the bunny. She zipped and zoomed across the playground, clearing it in record time. She left from tower to tower, quickly tiptoeing over tightropes and swinging on monkey bars like no one else could. For any other little one, these maneuvers would've been dangerous enough to discourage them, or at least give them a fright if they attempted them. But for Hoppy, they were second nature. As she cleared the course once more, standing atop the tallest tower, she felt something land on the roof behind her. Turning, she saw a pair of pink wings unfold to reveal a mostly white bat with pink markings around her face and a pendant resembling a droplet of blood.
"Hey there, pipsqueak." She greeted mockingly. "Who said you could just run around all over the place?" Hoppy looked around, confused, before returning her gaze to the bat, a bewildered expression on her face. "Uhm... no one? The playground is for everyone." The bat giggled callously. "Not anymore, it isn't. This playground is owned by Rabie Baby now. And I only want big, tough girls in my playground. Little tykes like you need to get lost!"
Hoppy huffed. "Hey! I am a big girl! My mommy said so!" She shouted, prompting a giggle from Rabie. "Hah! Your mommy must be a real big dummy, then!"
Hoppy gasped, feeling a little hurt at such a rude comment. "Hey! You take that back, you big bully! My mommy's the smartest lady around!" She yelled, thumping her foot in anger, as bunnies often do. Rabie Baby simply chuckled. "Well, I don't see her anywhere around here. She isn't going to help you now!"
Before Hoppy could get another word out, Rabie snatched her pendant and flew off with it. The bunny gasped in surprise. "My pendant!" Without hesitation, she leapt into action, literally. She hopped up and grabbed the bat by her foot. "H-hey! Let go of me, you little-!"
She flew down to the ground, rolling as she landed, barely managing to escape Hoppy's grasp. She shot up, shaking off her fur and glaring at the bunny, whose pendant she put over her head with her own. "You're gonna pay for that, twerp!" She said, dashing away. Hoppy ran after her, launching herself off of any surfaces she could find to catch up with the bully bat. Rabie stopped suddenly, right next to a drinking fountain, a wicked glint in her eye. "Hey, kid! You look thirsty!" Without warning, she slammed on the switch to turn the fountain on, causing water to spray in Hoppy's face. She recoiled a bit from the spray, spitting and coughing a bit before looking around for her enemy. She heard cackling above her and looked back up at the tower, where a proud Rabie stood. "Hah! Now that's what I call a refreshment!"
Hoppy growled, not liking this interaction at all. "You jerk! If you're such a big girl, why can't you come down here and fight me like one?" She asked, prompting a chuckle from Rabie. "And get your gross little germ-covered baby hands all over me? No thanks! I'd rather drink hot sauce straight from the bottle!"
The gears in Hoppy's mind quickly turned as an idea formed in her head. She suddenly smirked, looking up defiantly at her adversary. "Alright, here's a deal for you! Let's have a race. First one to reach the other side of the playground wins. Whoever wins gets the playground all to themselves, and gets my pendant." The bat thought for a moment before a wide grin spread across her face. "Heh, why not? Even though we both know I'll just beat you."
Hoppy smiled widely. "I'm counting on it." She muttered to herself under her breath. Without warning or time for Hoppy to prepare, Rabie took off flying. Hoppy gasped and sprang behind her, just barely keeping up. But while Rabie was distracted, Hoppy ducked into a crawlspace underneath one of the structures, smiling. She gave her paw a long, slimy lick before smashing it against the ground, rubbing it in dirt. She giggled quietly to herself, hoping that her little plot would work, and rushed towards the finish line.
Just as she'd expected, Rabie was already there, smug as ever, twirling Hoppy's pendant with the tip of her wing. "Hah! That was too easy. You couldn't even keep up for more than a few seconds!" Hoppy grinned at this, the pieces of her plan already falling into place. She approached Rabie, her fist clenched into a ball. "Yeah, Rabie. You won." She said. Rabie smirked. "Alright, kid. Get lost. I've had enough of you for one da-"
Before Rabie could react, Hoppy leapt forward and wiped her disgusting paw on the bat's wing, smearing it across her skin. Her eyes went wide with shock, and she let out a screech. "Ew, ew, EW! GERM TOUCH, GERM TOUCH! GET IT OFF OF ME! EWWWW!" She yelled, running around and trying to clean herself off to no avail. Hoppy stood there, smirking, as Rabie glared at her. "Ugh, you little brat! Fine, you win! Here's your stupid pendant!
She threw down the pendant forcefully and took off flying, still screeching and screaming about how repulsive the bunny's actions had been. Smiling widely, Hoppy wiped her paw off on one of the wooden structures, removing any excess, before picking up the pendant and donning it once more. "Hm! All in a day's work for Queen Hopscotch!
"Hoppy, we're back!"
Hoppy turned to see Catnap and Bobby striding towards her, Catnap holding a sleeping Dogday in his arms. She ran towards them, giving Bobby a great big hug. "Mama!" She yelled, but was shushed by Bobby. "Shh, Dogday is sleeping, little one. We don't want to wake him up. Hoppy saw this and nodded, smiling. "So, what did you get up to while we were gone?" Catnap inquired. Hoppy shrugged. "Nothing much, just being me!"
As Hoppy replied, she yawned loudly, earning a smile from her mommy. "Oh, seems like someone is certainly very tuckered out, aren't they?" Hoppy nodded in response as Bobby picked her up as well. "Come on, let's get you two little ones in bed." And thus, the two caregivers walked away with their little ones in their arms. Hoppy closed her eyes and peacefully drifted off to sleep, knowing that the playground, and her pendant, were safe from bullies like Rabie Baby.
