  1. Jujutsu Sorcerer: People who protect humanity from Cursed spirits, can use Jujutsu (Cursed Energy and/or Cursed techniques) typically to fight against Cursed spirits and Curse Users (evil sorcerers). Moreover, they are typically capable of seeing cursed spirits. Non-Jujutsu Sorcerers are people who cannot see cursed spirits or use Jujutsu.
  2. Cursed Energy: Negative energy given off by humans when they experience negative emotion e.g. Shame, Anger, Regret etc. The power source of Jujutsu and is also found in cursed tools and results in the creation of cursed spirits as the cursed energy emitted by primarily Non-Jujutsu Sorcerers accumulates over time to create cursed spirits. Can be used to cause harm or reinforce the body.
  3. Cursed Technique: Cursed Technique: Special abilities used by Jujutsu Sorcerers, fuelled by Cursed Energy. Typically, an innate ability that one inherits from one’s family.
  4. Cursed Spirits: A race of spiritual beings, invisible to Non-Jujutsu Sorcerers. Incarnated from the cursed energy given off by humans. Due to being born of negative human emotion they are naturally inclined to cause harm to humans. Their individual characteristics and capabilities often reflect a concept that humanity collectively holds strong negative emotions towards e.g. Natural disasters. They can only be exorcised via attacks imbued with cursed energy.
  5. Reverse cursed technique: An advanced form of Jujutsu where one multiplies their cursed energy, which is a negative form of energy, to make positive energy that can heal the body as opposed to cause harm or reinforce the body. This occurs in the brain while cursed energy comes from the gut.
  6. Fly Head: Weak and small insect like curse spirits that are so harmless they do not even register on the grade ranking system. i.e. Lower than Grade 4.
  7. Domain Expansion: One of the most supreme techniques of Jujutsu. It involves expanding one’s innate domain with cursed energy while using a barrier to construct it within a sperate space.  The user then imbues the domain with their cursed technique allowing them to deploy it throughout their domain. Their cursed technique is often improved or altered and is usually imbued with a guaranteed to-hit effect meaning it will never miss within their domain expansion. The latter works by locking on to the targets cursed energy.
  8. Barrier: Zones and territories established with Jujutsu. They are generally used to conceal, contain, and deny entry to entities within that space. Cursed techniques that erect barriers are known as barrier techniques. They can only recognise and affect beings with cursed energy and thus ignore things without cursed energy e.g. inanimate objects.
  9. Cursed tools: Weapons imbued with cursed energy and or a cursed technique.
  10. Binding Vow: A pact that a Jujutsu can make with their Jujutsu abilities usually to enhance or alter their capabilities so long as they follow the conditions of the contract. They can also make it with others to make an unbreakable agreement. You will suffer a severe punishment if you break the pact and how much your abilities can be altered or enhanced depends on how restrictive or costly the conditions of the pact are.
  11. Residuals: Traces of cursed energy left behind by Jujutsu Sorcerers, curse users, cursed tools and cursed spirits who have used Jujutsu. Can be used to track and identify an individual. However, that individual can be skilled enough to cover up their residuals.
  12. Black Flash: A distortion in space that occurs when cursed energy is applied within one millionth of second of a hit (e.g. a punch) connecting. The cursed energy flashes black and the impact is significantly stronger as a result. The user then enters a state athletes refer to as the “Zone” where cursed energy control becomes temporarily as natural as breathing and it is easier to land consecutive black flashes.
  13. Shikigami: Creatures that resemble cursed spirits that are conjured as familiars that work for Jujutsu Sorcerers.
  14. Hollow Wicker Basket: An anti-domain expansion technique that is the predecessor to simple domains (another anti-domain technique) that protects the user against the guaranteed hit effect of domains.
  15. Grade: The official power scaling system that ranks and categorises the combat strength of Jujutsu Sorcerers, Cursed Spirits and Cursed tools.

Typically, the ranking system goes as follows from Weakest to Strongest:

Grade 4, Grade 3, Semi-Grade 2, Grade 2, Semi-Grade 1, Grade 1, Special Grade 1, and Special Grade.
