Chapter Text

The hallways of the school were empty. Dark. Claire ran. She ran so- damn fast.

She heard 𝐢𝐭 catching up. Closer- yet closer. She saw the school’s exits- she could be free! She ran over, she’d tackle the door!- …it wouldn’t budge.

Claire looked back she saw 𝐡𝐞𝐫. That demon. ∆𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞.

Claire saw her claws extend. Her eyes narrow. She’d lunge at her-

*BEEP!* *BEEP!* *BEEP!* *BE-*

Her hand slammed down on her alarm clock. She sat up rather fast, breathing frantically. In a cold sweat. Her dorm room held her. . .and only her. She was ok!- She was, just..fine.

Claire sighed, shaking her head before getting out of her bed, her cat MoeMoe still asleep. It didn’t take long to get ready for another day at what was possibly the deadliest school in the world. As she’d walk out the door, locking it behind herself.

•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•

The classes were, relatively easy. At least after the first couple deaths. Dying really drives home the importance of studying at this school.

Claire waited and waited. She had long finished her notes, and all that was left was to wait for the bell t-

*BRRRIIIINNNGGG!!*

Claire, much like everyone else had started packing up. Their teacher, Miss Circle, had been yelling out instruction's.

“Alright ya lil SHITS, get the work off the desk and DONT fuck it up. LOOKIN AT YOU ABBIE.”

Said boy had only looked down in embarrassment. A girl, Lana, side-eyed the math teacher before going to grab the sheets.

“Don’t listen to her Bud- you got this!”

Abbie gets chased almost every day. He doesnt got shit. Everyone knew it, including him.

Regardless, Claire had hastily gotten everything in her bag, as she quickly snagged the sheet and started out the class. She had to remember what was next..already had science, language arts..and of course, math. So..Gym! Gym was next!

Claire liked Gym class. Mostly because they never really used the gym and instead were allowed to just head to the pool, and in tandem, Claire loved to swim! Easy win-win. So, with everyone else. She’d head straight to the locker rooms. Can’t swim in school clothes!

•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•

Walking out the locker rooms, Claire couldn’t help but get a bit starry eyed at the hustle n bustle within the area. So many students having fun! It was like, the one place no one had to fear death, or fucking up tests. (Cough cough, ABBIE)

Walking over to the pools steps, she’d start walking in. The cool water in contrast to the somehow humid air was nice. She was almost fully in, until-

“AARGH!!”

The sudden outburst caused Claire to stumble a bit, as she held onto the slippery hand rail for dear life, she’d look behind herself, a glare plastered onto her face. She’d see Zip. A girl who usually tended to wear a decked out poncho, even to the pool- weird but eh. She also had- a pirate hat? And her dinosaur like tail was just a bit tucked near her ankles??

Claire was..fond-ish of the girl? From what Engel had told her, zip and Oliver tricked her into going into Alice’s room with that stupid- exit sign. ..Claire couldn’t bring herself to..hate the girl. She hated that she didn’t know why.

Regardless, seeing her. She’d sigh. Annoyed.

“..what is it, Zip?-“

Said girl perked up, as she held out a hand, which held a fake pirate hook.

“Aye! T’was wonderin if ya wanted to join me crew! ..cus- uh…”

She’d look down a bit. A cartoonish bead of sweat going down

“Nooneelsereallywantsto-“

Claire looked at her blankly. Either she was weighing her options, or she thought she was so ridiculous that she was trying not to laugh.

Zip really hoped it wasn’t the latter-

Finally, the other girl spoke.

“Sure thing!”

•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•

Zip and Claire stood upon the ship that the school had for, some inconceivable reason. Say didn’t Edward get trampled by this- aw who cares.

Claire looked around, before looking directly at the dragon girl in front of her.

“So- uh..what do we do..?”

She’d tilt her head a bit, In which Zip smirked, before letting out a hearty laugh!

“Aye! We oughta sail the seven seas! Pillage those with riches! Make those land lubbers pay!”

And by that, she meant be a nuisance to everyone. Ok! Claire could totally do that.

“Ohh- well uh- Aye-Aye!”

God what was she doing with her time-

Zip’s smirk only grew. Both out of amusement and general happiness. As she’d walk over to a chest on the ship, opening it to reveal some- soggy pirate gear. Oh that’s not-

“Pick something! In order ya be a pirate, ya gotsta look the part Matey!”

Claire questioned her choices even more now. But dammit if seeing the girl all happy and- not tormenting others didn’t make her stomach do weird twists and turns- wait what.

She’d sigh. Before walking to the chest, grabbing a decently dry eyepatch. She’d obviously wring out any remaining water before putting it on-

“Uh- this work?-“

“Aye! Sure does! Now cmon- let’s get this ol lug to sea!”

Claire smiled, before nodding and saluting.

“Aye-Aye Cap’n!”

Noting how the boat was- seemingly made of duct taped cardboard. Getting it in the water would be easy!

•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•

It was not easy. For whatever reason, the boat was. An actual fucking boat. Weight and all. Claire questioned why the school held a cube shaped boat, but ultimately she decided to ignore that, and instead she’d continue to focus on getting it in. Pushing it from the ground wasn’t working. Time to ask zip.*

“Ugh- mm..Cap’n! How uh- how’d ye get this big thing in the pool- sea! Sea, last time?”

Zip, who had ignored the slip up, simply rolled her eyes.

“Why, I used a little trick calllled-“

She hopped off the boat, before going over to the wall and pressing a single tile, it went in and..a ramp rose out from the flooring?-

“. . .this school has too many secrets..”

Claire muttered under her breath, before looking back to zip, who was just, beaming with the opportunity to “sail the seven seas”

“Cmon Second mate, we oughtsta get this in there!”

Claire nodded, before both girls hopped on the boat, as the flooring beneath said watercraft had started to drop. Blue lights flashed throughout the pool, some sorta warning? Least this confirmed that the school just. Had the boat as a feature. Whatever.

Eventually, the boat would teeter, before sliding off the ramp and into the pool with a big splash! ..it ran over Edward again.

Everyone had looked on, decently amused, Claire was waving at her group of friends, zip tried looking for Edward and Oliver. But she only saw the latter. She didn’t know where the nerd was lol

Regardless. Now that they were in the pool, Zip had one goal, find some treasure! So playfully, she’d start turning the steering wheel in all sorts of directions.

“Alright second mate! Now let’s get some treasure!”

She’d exclaim, noting the little nod and salute did.

“Aye!”

Her stomach did a flip.

•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•

After a bit. Zip would decide now was a good time to, “pillage those land lubbers for their goods!” So she’d turn toward Claire..

“Second mate, drop the anchor!”

“Ay- wait what?-“

Claire looked at her bewildered.

“..drop the anchor?”

Zip responded, mostly confused at Claires confusion.

“Yeah i got that I just- what if it hits someone?”

“Oh- pff Puh-LEASE! Like that’ll happen. Now cmon! Drop it! Drop it!”

Claire hesitated, before sighing with a slight smile.

“Ok- ok then. Whatever you say Cap’n!”

Claire went over to the anchor. It was decent in size. Nothing like an *Actual* anchor. But good enough.

She’d pick it up, not struggling much, as she’d walk to the edge. She’d drop it!

She thought to herself as it fell..

(“Maybe I should’ve looked befor-“)

Her thoughts were cut off by a sickening crack.

Everyone heard it- Claire looked over the boats side, as zip jogged over.

Blood spread throughout the water.

Students screamed.

Claire could only look on. Silent. A loud buzzing filled her ears.
