Work Text:
Ten years later Kiyoi and Hira were still holding on. The two of them have faced many hardships together throughout the years but their passion and trust in one another has kept the flame going for so long. Kiyoi has exploded into the idol industry becoming a beloved face in the public eye, everyone keeping up with whatever he has to offer. Hira soon after winning a public award has now been hired under Kiyoi's company as his very own private photographer. Hira couldn't have been happier.
Taking photos of Kiyoi was a lifelong dream he could finally achieve, and he wouldn't give up the chance to be in the presence of someone like him to anyone else underserving. After coming home from work Hira as always ran up to Kiyoi in their small but adorable home ready to welcome the man of the hour. "Welcome home," Hira said in exactment ready to help his beloved rest properly.
"Hi," Kiyoi replied back as he got his jacket off. "Something smells nice what is it?" "Oh! I made your favorite! i hope you don't mind but I changed it a little too just to make it extra special for you Kiyoi," Hira said as he played around his fingers hoping Kiyoi wouldn't be disappointed in the sudden change. "Well, don't just stand there go get it," Kiyoi chuckled.
Hira hurried to the kitchen as he set the table and prop up a nice cozy spot just for him. Kiyoi would never admit it but his favorite part of the day was coming home to his lover and seeing all the work he put in just for him. It warmed his heart ever so slightly. As Hira prepped his plate Kiyoi reached over grabbing the mail left on the table most likely forgotten by Hira due to his urgency to complete so many things at once.
Upon looking through he found a unique letter that was sent by their old class presidents. Opening it up slowly to read his eyes widen, Hira able to quickly notice the shift in mood. "Is everything alright Kiyoi," Hira asked? "Yeah it's just a letter came in from the school. Our ten-year reunion is this Friday at the local bar," Kiyoi explained. "Oh, wow so soon? We just graduated university am I correct," Hira asked? "Are you going?" "Are you," Kiyoi asked with a little harshness in his tone? "Probably no, who would want to see me there? I had no friends Kiyoi." Kiyoi rolled his eyes as he reached over and shook him.
"Am I not your friend and more!?" "No no no- I mean yes- I mean well- why would someone like me come with you and reunion your image," Hira shouted! "I've told you to stop that creepy," Kiyoi said as he shoved him away. "I'm sorry Kiyoi if you want, we can go and I promise not to be weird," Hira explained. "Liar," Kiyoi said. "Hm?" "Liar, no matter what you are weird and gross," Kiyoi said.
"I'm sorry-" "So don't act any differently," Kiyoi demanded! Hira smirked a little to himself, Kiyoi noticing immediately and getting embarrassed.
"You! Feed me now," he said! "Right sorry," Hira said holding the food up to him for him to eat.
Since that day they got ready for the reunion of their fellow classmates, Kiyoi was kind of excited to see old pals and catch up with them. He also wanted people to see his new relationship with Hira. But he knew that Hira would find it to be useless and think that people's opinion of him will change. He didn't care; however, he just wanted to see pals and spend time with his lover reminiscing on the past they once had. "Kiyoi um- how do I look," Hira asked him to hope he dressed up enough to his liking. Kiyoi took one look and immediately knew that it was a no. Hira looked really handsome, and he knew others would think so as well. "Gross," Kiyoi said. Hearing the tone Hira already knew Kiyoi liked it. "You want me to change because your scared people will think I look nice," Hira said with the biggest smirk on his face. Kiyoi had no words other than a small "Weirdo." After they left walking down to the bar Hira only grew more nervous for the event. He doesn't want to believe it but he truly doesn't find anything new about him worth noting. He's a simple man with a simple job and lives simply. The only great thing going on for him was Kiyoi. But why would he ever admit to that- he wouldn't dare let them know Kiyoi decided to stick with a loser like him. He couldn't.
"Hey! Snap out of it," Kiyoi said. "Don't act weird when we arrive just be yourself- well that's weird too so just- don't worry Hira. If you feel nervous just stay with me, I'll talk," Kiyoi said softly. Hira smiled as he slowly held onto his hand. They made it to the bar and saw a bunch of familiar faces. Of course, when people see Kiyoi everyone rushes over to welcome him and talk to him due to his old popularity and new sudden fame. Kiyoi and Hira got seated at the table with a few others who were apart of Kiyoi's old friend group.
(Fake names will be used I cannot remember his old friend's names)
"Wow man it's been forever, what the hell have y'all been up to," Aoto asked? "Gosh I don't know about you guys but i just recently became a dad," Eita said! "Shut up no way you!? With whom," Jin asked!? "A lady in my office we met about five years ago and got married, now I'm a father," he replied. "Congratulations," Kiyoi said smiling at his old pals accomplishments. "Now don't go all small on us Kiyoi! Remember where in the presence of a famous man now," Aoto said! "Should've known you would make it big Kiyoi, you always had that determination back then now look at you!" "Honestly you were made for a spotlight," Eita joked. "Even now you're the start of the show look around."
Hira took the time to glance at everyone and even with the reunion old female classmates of his were also peering over to see the new grown up Kiyoi. "Naw it's not to big a deal I promise," Kiyoi said. "So, when do we order?" Moments later meals and drinks began to get passed around the bar. A few more joined our table and all conversations were focused on Kiyoi and just how cool he was. Hira wanted to speak up and agree, share his favorite moments of him as well. But he couldn't. Kiyoi became a little irritated by that. "Hold on I realized? Hira!? Wow man you look different to for a second, I thought you were just some random kid from our class," Jin said!
"Well, you're not all the way wrong this guy was diffidently something strange," Eita said! "You tell me, what are you even doing nowadays," Aoto asked? the table now shifted attention to Hira. Hira had no idea what to say or even how to explain things about him. He had nothing special going on so what was the point. "Actually," Kiyoi spoke up. "He works in my agency he became some big-shot photographer. He even won an award," Kiyoi said. "Woah really!? Yall work together? That must be a little strange huh," Aoto joked!
Everyone else laughed as the conversations went on. "Still as quite as ever? I would've thought you at least grew some balls," Jin said. "Same I was actually excited to see how the guys turned out now but only Kiyoi got cooler," Fuki said as she came over. "Oh, wow Fuki you look great! Not a day over-" "Don't even Aoto," she chuckled.
"Nice to see you again Kiyoi congratulations on the success," she said to Kiyoi in a more flirtatious tone. Kiyoi shook his head as he took a sip of his drink trying to kind of look away from her and her attempts to flirt.
"Oo my boy is getting shy huh," Eita teased! Soon the table began to coo and awe at the two. "You know y'all were voted most compatible in yearbook, maybe you should rekindle what y'all had," Jin said. "We had nothing I was single all through high school," Kiyoi said. Hira smiled a little to himself feeling relived in hearing the sudden rumor. "Ah there it is! That creepy look! Remember anytime Kiyoi was around he would always have some sort of gaze towards him and there it is again," Aoto said! "Must be happy to hear that they weren't a thing huh?"
Hira was at a loss of words. Usually, he was good at sticking up for himself now but at this moment all of that confidence he slowly built was out the window. "N-no," Hira stuttered as he looked around.
"I don't care who Kiyoi chooses to see or not, it's none of my concern," Hira said sternly. Kiyoi however looked disappointed. He was certain Hira didn't want to come clean about them and that only pissed him off. Kiyoi got up as he walked away. Everyone was confused including Hira who got up as well to check on him. "Kiyoi! Kiyoi wait up what happened," Hira asked!? "Go away," Kiyoi said.
"Did I do something?" Hira was really worried now as Kiyoi had a rather more pissed off look then anything sad or depressing. Did he cause these feelings to erupt inside him?
"It doesn't matter stalker go away and go back inside acting like you don't even know me," Kiyoi said. "Huh," Hira questioned? "Don't play dumb all night you been acting so weird with me and didn't even say a word. Everyone kept even harassing you and you just took it. Do you want to keep being a loser to everyone," Kiyoi asked!? "N-no Kiyoi. I'm sorry- I just everyone was so happy to see you I didn't want to interrupt. And plus, what's so special about me to even be needed to be remembered? You heard them Kiyoi they didn't even know it was me until he saw me look at you," Hira explained as he looked down to his feet ashamed to even look him in the eye. Kiyoi sighed.
"You're the worst," he said. "Who cares about them it's a reunion not class. I just don't want them to continue walking over you though you're- you're something special Hira," Kiyoi said quietly.
"You shouldn't let them say those things and if you really don't to mention me you don't. Just don't hide me as a friend at least." Hira's eyes widen. "No no no Kiyoi why would I ever hide you? You're something that shouldn't ever be hidden. I'm surprised even to this day you're with someone like me you're a rare gem in the dessert stuck onto a cheap piece of plastic like me!" Kiyoi looked at Hira in confusion but chuckled. "You're weird Hira," he said. Hira smiled as he grabbed Kiyoi's hand softly kissing his knuckles.
"Let's go back," Hira said connecting his hand with his. When returning some of the table was gone dancing. They sat back down enjoying their drinks and meal together. "Finally, your back," Aoto said. "What the hell happened? "Nothing really new just Hira being annoying," Kiyoi said. "My bad Kiyoi," Hira said. "Anyways Fuki wanted to dance you Kiyoi I think you should go," Eita said. "No thanks my boyfriend wouldn't appreciate that," Kiyoi said. Everyone at the table seemed to stop in their tracks.
"Kiyoi!? You have a boyfriend," Jin asked? "I never knew you swung that way- well uh do we know him did you bring him," Aoto asked? Kiyoi shook his head as he looked at me. "Well, don't make do all the talking weirdo," he said.
"Sorry. I wouldn't like if you dance with her though," Hira said softly. Everyone at the table seemed even more shocked asking when and how it happened.
Kiyoi's pals being shocked that they would end up together because of how different the two were. But that was alright with them they liked their differences and liked that even though they didn't look good together they still were. Later that evening the two of them swayed together in the corner of the room as the music played and everyone was enjoying conversing with old friends.
"When we go home, I want a massage and a bath," Kiyoi asked. Hira smirked. "Weirdo," Kiyoi stuttered as he smiled a little placing his head on his lover's shoulders. "Love you to Kiyoi."
