Work Text:
Satono Diamond and Satono Crown were having a stroll around town when they spotted a familiar face standing awkwardly in front of a convenience store.
“Oh? Heeeeeey, Cheval!” Satono Crown shouted.
Dressed in casual wear with a baseball cap to (poorly) conceal her identity, Cheval jumped back when she heard Crown's voice. While she was trapped in an unexpected conversation, Dia took a look at what caught her attention.
“A sweepstakes?”
There seemed to be some type of collaboration with the URA. A lottery for customers that had spent a minimum amount of money, with several possible prizes. The bottom prizes were things such as sticker sheets and transparent folders, while the top prize was a Nintendo Switch with branding of an up-and-coming horse girl.
What really caught her eye, however, was the 2nd place prize. A little plushie of Kitasan Black.
Dia checked her wallet; about 30,000 yen was inside, and she was just about to do her monthly shopping. That settled it.
Dia confidently walked past the automatic doors, made sure that the collaboration was ongoing, and got to work.
When the poor cashier saw the items she was bringing to the front, she requested help from her coworker. By the time she was done, Crown and Cheval had joined her.
“Let's see… It's 1,500 yen per pull, so you have 20 lottery pulls.”
“Perfect.” Dia watched as the worker walked up to the little lottery wheel they had near the register. It spun once, twice, thrice before spitting out a white ball.
“Congratulations, you've won the 4th place prize.”
Hardly something to congratulate her about, but Dia wasn't worried. 19 more go.
19 pulls later, Dia was broken and defeated, surrounded by a collection of stickers and folders she didn't want. The Satono suits were quick to appear, helping her with her purchases.
Meanwhile, Cheval was bringing her own purchases to the front, doing a measly 1 pull compared to Dia's 20. However, when the cashier turned the lottery wheel again, starting to lose her mind from the situation she found herself in, a golden ball dropped. The cashier paused for a moment in disbelief, before announcing, “C-congratulations! We have a winner!”
“Nice going Cheval!” As Cheval stared in disbelief, Crown wrapped her arms around her neck and began jumping up and down in excitement. Even Dia clapped for her, glad someone got something out of this.
After disappearing into the back, the cashier reappeared with a Switch in her hands, one she handed to Cheval after taking a few pictures for promotional purposes.
Then, Cheval turned to Dia, and offered the Switch. “D-do you want it?”
“Cheval…!” Dia was touched by her friend's kindness, but she quickly shook her head. “Sorry. I'm a Sega fan.”
“E-eh?”
And with that, Dia walked out, dejected.
Arriving at her dorm, Dia saw Kitasan lounging on her bed. The festival girl looked at her with bright smiles, before noticing her depressed expression. “What's wrong?” Kitasan asked, concerned.
“Oh… Nothing.”
Seeing that Dia didn't want to talk about it, Kitasan spread out her arms. “Would a hug make you feel better?”
Dia didn't hesitate to accept the offer. She might have lost the Kitasan lottery, but she won the real Kitasan sweepstakes.
