Chapter Text
“It had been about a year of planning and searching for Vecna, when I felt Vecna getting his strength back. We knew we had to act, before it was too late. El wasn’t going to be alone this time. Not only were we able to get Kali to help but it turns out two more lab kids were living right here in Hawkins. Ten and Nine were also willing to help. Hopper made the rest of the kids stay behind. Lucus and Erica were stationed at Max’s side in the hospital with Kate Bush playing out of the boom box.
Nancy and Hopper were armed with a shotgun, Steve and Robin once again held the Molotov cocktails. We knew we could take out any threat. Kail used her powers to keep some of us hidden and used them to distract him. Ten and El did the final blow. Vecna was defeated and we cheered, We also mourned those who had been killed due to the upside down. Suddenly we felt a strange shock wave and noticed the gates that Vecna had opened were starting to slowly closed up. So we quickly made our escape. Once we were back to our world, we heard the walkies go off. “Max is waking up” it called out over and over. Ten and El helped the gates along and got them closed up faster. Owens was quick to get people in to start the repairs on the buildings. Somethings were already being rebuilt as El was able to close parts of the gate before we stopped Vecna.
Max slept mostly for the first few days after waking up but became more active. Also Max seemed a bit more heeled after that shock wave but not fully and now she waits her new glasses. In the meantime she wearing a pair Owens people found at the Glasses Store in town.” Will had been the one to fill Max in what had happened since she was attacked.
Max snorts “you didn’t have to add the last few part Will, I know I’m waiting for my own glasses”
Will shrugs. “That’s pretty much everything that happened after you almost died and Hawkins got four giant gates going threw it”
“You did do a good job telling the story, it felt like a DnD campaign.” Dustin tells him.
“You forgot how Jason got ripped in two when the last gate opened.” Mike chimed in.
“So Jason found us and tried to get me to bring you back. When I refused he pointed his gun and me. I fought him and won. He ended up breaking your Walkman during the struggle.” Lucas added
"So he's the reason I ended up hurt, fucking asshole" Max said
“We lost Eddie, he tried to be a hero..” Dustin sniffled.
“OH!!! This is Ten and Nine.” El pointing the two girls who were also in the room.
Ten speaks first. “We have meet before.” Samantha smiles. Samantha had her ginger hair pulled back into a pony tale. Freckles splatter across her face and pale skin. “I can give you tips about being a glasses wearer” she add as she points to her own pair which are blue and slightly over sized.
Nine then speaks. “so have we” Gloria says. Gloria was taller then Samantha and not as pale. Her dark brown hair was curly like Sheryl temple
“I can’t believe you two have powers,” Max exclaims. “Do you know if my mom stopped by yet?” Max asked.
Everyone in the room looks at each other… “Welllll. You see.. She started drinking a lot after you went into a Coma. It was bad.” Lucas told her
“Is she okay?” Max asked. “Yes, Hopper and Wayne convinced her to go to Rehab” Dustin chimed in.
“She in Indianapolis right now, so you will be staying with us till she gets out and back on her feet. My mom had done some work with Owens before. So she knew about the lab. Also we have a pool which is great for your physical therapy” Samantha informs her and hands her the number for the Rehab.
“And we moved back to Hawkins” El tells Max.
“I’m just glad that Owens said I could leave soon.” Max mentions.
A nurse pops her head in and informs everything visiting hours are over soon. A bunch of groins turn into good byes and everyone leaves the room.
Only Lucas and Max are now in the room. “Well, I will see you tomorrow” Lucas informs her.
“I had some weird dreams just before I woke up. I thinking back on it, I thought it was from you reading to me. I could hear you reading, you know. but I’m still having the same dream. Voices calling out to me… sometimes it’s Billy. Sometimes it’s other voices. I can’t quite make them out”
Lucas pulls Max into a hug. “I’m sure weird dreams are normal after everything you’ve been threw.” he consoles her
He pulls out of the hug then kisses on the forehead and cheek. He leaves the room after another goodbye. Max decide she would call her mom tomorrow
