“What the frigg… Why does it have to be so hot…” Kaho groaned. Sprawled out on her couch, the muggy air was stifling, draining all of Kaho’s energy. Suddenly, she perked up.
“I know! I should totally get the others to do something today!” (this is really important to the plot gooob don't forget)

“Aw man, Rena-chin’s busy… Well, you know what? If you don’t succeed, try, try again!!”

“Aa-chan’s busy too, huh? Mai-Mai’s probably busy, so I guess I’ll call Saa-chan.”

“Saa-chan!” Kaho exclaimed, brimming with enthusiasm.
Satsuki sighed, already having regretted picking up. “What is it, Kaho?”
“Can we go somewhere? I’m so bored and everyone else is busy!”
“I’m studying, Kaho.”
“Aw, you’re no fun. You’re always studying! Wouldn’t it be nice to take a break sometimes?”
Satsuki glanced at the clock.
“Fine, I suppose just this once.”
Kaho practically jumped for joy, and then thought for a moment, before asking,
“Wanna go to the amusement park?”
“Sounds good. I’ll see you there then.”
Satsuki hung up, and Kaho really did start jumping for joy.
———————————
An hour later, Satsuki came into Kaho’s field of view, and Kaho forgot how to breathe. The sunlight reflected off her long, dark hair, which contrasted exceptionally well with her porcelain skin – alongside her balanced proportions and ruby red eyes, she looked like a doll made by a master of the craft. Her black sleeveless dress, tied at her waist, was simple yet refined. Put together, these features made Koto Satsuki the very image of beauty, and Kaho couldn’t get enough. Meanwhile, Kaho was rocking a white t-shirt and black shorts; her lightly worn sneakers made it obvious she put all 20 points into comfortability in the character select screen.
“... Are we going to go in or are we going to keep staring at each other?” Satsuki asked, raising her eyebrows slightly.
“Oh, yeah yeah, sorry…” Kaho answered, flushed with embarrassment.
The bright colors of the amusement park, coupled with the Satsuki accompanying her, caused the easily excitable Kaho to become just a little hyper.
Kaho let out a small gasp. “Saa-chan! Look how high that one is! Can we go on it?”
Satsuki replied casually, “Shouldn’t we look at the map first?”
“Ahhh, that’s no fun! Just go on the cool-looking ones when you walk around! Easy.” Kaho grinned as if she had just solved an über-difficult math problem all by herself.
“Really now?”
“Yep!”
“You know what, sure, why not.”
The “plan” was no more than walking around, but it didn’t take long for Kaho to find something that had caught her interest. Hopping on the line, they began idly chatting to fill the time.
”So, Saa-chan. How d’you like rollercoasters?”
“I don’t mind them.”
“Not scared or anything? It’s kind of high, you know…” Kaho asked playfully.
“No. Accidents are extremely rare.”
“Man, you’re so cool, Saa-chan…” replied Kaho, half joking and half serious. “Oh! Our turn!”
As they dropped, Kaho was, naturally, screaming her head off, but couldn’t seem to keep it uninterrupted, because she kept laughing. Next to her sat the essence of calm, as composed and tranquil as ever, even as they plummeted from multiple tens of meters.
After it had ended, Kaho grinned up at Satsuki, who had gotten up first.
“Pretty fun, right? That drop was something else!”
“I suppose.”
“C’mon, you gotta lighten up a little sometimes!”
“I refuse.”
Kaho pouted and playfully punched her arm. “You’re no fun…”
“Who came here with you when they could’ve been studying?”
“I’m sorry.”
“As I thought.”
They had barely walked ten steps before Kaho pointed out another attraction, instantly forgetting the interaction just then.
This was a mistake, thought Satsuki, exasperated.
———————————
Three hours of the harsh midsummer sun had already exhausted Satsuki, not to mention the Mach-4 gremlin dragging her around. Very fortunately for Satsuki, Kaho had, in her crusade against the sun, forgotten to eat anything that day.
“Saa-chan, I’m hungry…” Kaho sighed, looking like she was about to fall over a rail off a rooftop.
Satsuki basically picked Kaho up and carried her inside a dainty little café, the AC perking her up instantly. After receiving their menu, Kaho began chattering about every colorful, whimsical picture of food she saw, and Satsuki just sighed inwardly.
Kaho ordered a characteristically bright pastel-colored parfait, of which a mere whiff would give one diabetes. Meanwhile, Satsuki had gotten some soufflé pancakes, with a modest amount of blueberries on the side. After a short moment to take pictures, Kaho took a bite of her parfait. She hadn’t even swallowed, before squealing something along the lines of “It’s so good”, although it came out a bit garbled.
“Swallow your food before you open your mouth.” Satsuki said tersely.
Kaho brushed her off, and promptly proceeded to absolutely demolish the entire thing. Satsuki watched in amazement as Kaho, who somehow had not had enough, ordered another one.
They exited the café, greeted by the sky slowly growing orange, because that always happens in anime for some reason.
“That late, huh? We should have time for one more ride.”
Satsuki said nothing, but nodded. Kaho thought for a bit before a lightbulb literally appeared over her head.
“Saa-chan! Let’s go to the Ferris wheel!”
“That’s… really cliché.”
“Shaddup! I don’t wanna hear a word! From either you…” Kaho looked in some random direction, “or the readers! Got that?”
“What are you looking at? Opposite direction, Kaho. And fine.”
Now within the (car? gondola? whatever the fuck you wanna call the thing people sit in), they began slowly ascending. Kaho excitedly looked out of the window, a sprawling landscape beneath her.
“Woah! Saa-chan, I can see my house from here!”
“Your house is much too far to be seen from here, Kaho.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” admitted Kaho.
Through the window, light gently filtered in, bathing the two of them in a soft orange light. Kaho turned back to face Satsuki, and instantly froze up. Once again, Kaho couldn’t stop staring, and once again, Satsuki stared back.
Kaho always acted playful, happy, excited. Her contacts essentially forced her to, of her own volition, but she knew this wasn’t the moment. A heat crept up her face, slowly turning her red. Satsuki, ever the cool persona, gazed at Kaho coolly. Now thoroughly flustered, Kaho was desperately thinking of something, anything to fill the silence between them.
“S-S-S-Saa-chan! You, uh… we… um…”
Shit shit shit shit shit! What the fuck is happening? Why am I fumbling with my words? Why now?
“Yes, Kaho? What is it?”
“Um… nothing! Nevermind, haha…”
Satsuki exhaled audibly, before turning to face the window, both hands on her lap.
The way the light hits her face… and she’s sitting, so, well, dignified… Agh! She’s too pretty!! My poor heart can’t bear any more!
Kaho was, to put it simply, panicking. Her heart would not stop beating hard enough to crack her ribs and her head was entirely focused on the beauty in front of her. On the verge of internal collapse, Kaho threw a line so desperate, so out there, that a Hail Mary would not even come close to describing it—
“Saa-chan! We should kiss!”
Satsuki’s head whipped around.
“What. Did you just say?”
Instead of staring daggers, Satsuki stared full-on zweihänders.
“I- It would be, like, really romantic and stuff! I- I mean, it was a joke! I didn’t mean it, haha…”
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT KAHO OH MY GOD WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT ARE YOU FOR REAL RIGHT NOW Kaho thought calmly.
Satsuki’s eyes narrowed into slits, a piercing stare which seemed as if to peer into Kaho’s soul. Kaho was shitting bricks and sweating bullets as Satsuki nodded nigh imperceptibly.
“Please exit this way, ma’am.” said an employee.
Kaho stumbled out, doubling over and clutching her chest wheezing. Her face was on fire as the world spun around her, blurry and unfocused. Suddenly, a hand reached out to her. Satsuki had extended her hand towards Kaho, gesturing for her to take it.
“You’re in other people’s way. Let’s go.”
“S- sure…” Kaho breathed.
It took Kaho a few moments to recover, but the instant she did, she realized.
Wait. I’m holding hands with Satsuki.
Her hand jerked away erratically as Satsuki glanced at Kaho, questioning her action.
“Uh, sorry!”
“It’s… fine. Whatever.”
They walked out of the closing amusement park, walked past convenience stores and bars and ramen places, and made their way to a bus stop. The sun had set by this time, the sky now two shades of blue above midnight. There they stood, alone with just the other for company, waiting for a bus that felt as if it would never come. Kaho spoke first.
“Hey, I’m sorry about what happened back there…”
“No, it’s fine.”
Kaho looked at Satsuki, and her heart wouldn’t stop beating. She blushed a bit, mustered up her courage, and said what must surely have been the most brave statement of her life.
“What I said, back in the Ferris wheel… I wasn’t joking, you know?”
Now counting the rocks on the sidewalk, Kaho gulped, awaiting a response. Satsuki cleared her throat, eliciting Kaho to look up. Her face, too, was red, although not quite as deep a shade as Kaho’s.
“I see… that’s how it is, then…”
Any other time, Satsuki would have surely hit Kaho over her thick skull with a hardcover textbook. However, this intimate environment, one between them and them only, had lowered Satsuki’s guard enough to be flustered instead of violent.
Between all this embarrassing talk, the bus had pulled up.
“I, uh… I’ll see you then…” muttered Kaho. She turned towards the approaching bus.
An impulsive dash forward. Mind racing, Satsuki made a rare, illogical move misaligned with her usual mindset.
“Kaho.”
Kaho turned around at the sudden, close noise, only to be met with Satsuki’s face, blushing hard. Kaho hesitated a moment, before closing her eyes. Satsuki leaned in, and their lips met. A fleeting kiss, but a kiss nonetheless, and both were left a bright shade of red.
Without a word, Kaho got on the bus. She was surprised, sure, but Satsuki was even more shocked as she followed Kaho onto the bus.
Satsuki had a problem. She was possessed, and had no clue what her body was doing without her permission. Sitting directly next to Kaho, neither of them could stop fidgeting nor blushing.
After a short while, they had arrived at their stop, and exited. The brief walk back to Kaho’s house was filled with quick glances, and in Satsuki’s case, a profound sense of shame.
What am I doing? I kissed Kaho on an impulse, and now I’m going back to her house… Just what is happening to me?
ker-chunk
Kaho had hardly closed the door before Satsuki pushed her against the wall and began desperately kissing her. Raw emotion poured from Satsuki as Kaho took in and exchanged feelings needily. Satsuki pulled back, gasping for breath, as a string of saliva connected the two’s lips.
“My, haah… my room is this way.”
Kaho pulled Satsuki’s hand along as she walked the short distance to her room. After closing the door, Satsuki took off Kaho’s shirt and pushed her down on the bed. Kaho, flushed and slightly sweaty, simply looked up at Satsuki, eyes reflecting how bad she wanted Satsuki at that moment.
———————————
The morning light gently came through Kaho’s bedroom window, rousing Kaho. She threw on some random clothes she found before she struggled and stumbled her way to the bathroom, looking at herself in the mirror.
“Damn…”
Satsuki walked in, rubbing her eyes.
“Good morning, Kaho.”
“Mornin’.”
“Excuse me.” Satsuki looked at herself in the mirror, too.
Kaho suddenly woke up for real, stammering.
“I- I’m sorry!”
“You really did a number on me, huh…”. Satsuki pulled down her shirt collar, revealing multiple bite marks and bruises. “Thanks a lot, Kaho.”
“I said I was sorry!”
“I know, it’s fine. Seriously though, tch, looks like a wild animal got me.” She stretched leisurely before exiting the bathroom, calling out to Kaho.
“What’s for breakfast?”
Kaho stood there for a second, lost in her own world. Then, she hurried off to Satsuki.
