Work Text:

Dwight’s glasses never seemed to fit properly. It could have been the constant abuse from various Killers he was constantly pitted against, but the other glasses wearing Survivors never seemed to have the same issue he had.

Cam mused that thought over while watching him fiddle with them. Maybe it was some sort of punishment? Considering they were all being kept in some sort of pocket dimension run by some sort of eldritch being, she doubted it.

“Stop it. Hand them over.” she held out a hand to him, and made the ‘gimmie’ gesture.

“U-uh…why?” Dwight asked, and held them closer to his chest. Without them he’s practically blind, and it wouldn’t be the first time that someone ran off with them; or worse.

“You messing with them is driving me crazy, now hand them over. I want to try and fix them.” she looked like she wasn’t going to take no for an answer, so he passed them to her with a bit of hesitation.

Plastic, or some sort of blend. Perfect. She brushed a patch of dirt clean and placed them down. Oh yeah, the temples were messed up and the points of them were either too tight or too loose. Dwight watched her intently and shot up in panic as Cam moved the glasses towards the roaring main fire.

“Wh-what are you doing?!” he yelped, hand grabbing out for them, but held back by her free hand on his chest.

“Gotta get them warm to bend them back into place.” Cameron pulled back, carefully bending the parts that were out of alignment. “My dad used to bend his all the time.” Her brow furrowing in thought, as she moved the glasses in and out of the fire’s heat.

“Granted they were only readers, but they were always stepped on or found melted in the car somewhere.”

Cam put the glasses down on the ground again. They laid flat as they should be. “Alright, try them now.” Now it was her handing them over.

With some trepidation, Dwight slid them back on. They were perfect! A bit warm, but perfect! He looked at her with a big toothy grin, “Thanks Cam!”

“Now if they get fucked up again, you know how to fix ‘em.” Cameron stood up and ruffled his hair before walking away.

It was amazing what a simple fix could do to one’s self confidence.

Notes:
