Just give me the fucking report

Summary:

Starting a new job after finishing uni was never going to be easy. He knew it from the start, going from France to going back to Japan after so many years was already going to be a struggle, and now he had to get used to living alone without a stream of people coming in and out of his dorm at all times of the day.

For chuuya, social interaction was a must, but it was difficult to keep his temper most of the time, so his goal for this year was to settle down, get used to his new life and maybe make some friends if he could stomach it, but his new co workers weren't going to make it a walk in the park.

Dazai was bored. Bored of life, bored of piles and piles of documents and most of all bored of the lack of entertainment.

Okay, maybe the piles were his fault, but kunikida never bothered to make anything interesting around here, he was practically starving for some entertainment.

Lucky for him, apparently a new person was joining his team. Fresh meat. If this person wasn't interesting enough, he might as well hurl himself off the top story of the building that caused him so much annoyance. No one would miss him anyway.

Notes:

Heya, this is my first fic ever, so it's basically a test drive for me. I don't expect anyone to read this tbh, but if anyone does I might die of happiness. If you hate it, let me know and I'll fix it, I'll take any criticism at all, I want to get better at writing anyway. Please enjoy- ♡

Chapter Text

Starting a new job after finishing uni was never going to be easy. He knew it from the start, going from France to going back to Japan after so many years was already going to be a struggle, and now he had to get used to living alone without a stream of people coming in and out of his dorm at all times of the day.

For chuuya, social interaction was a must, but it was difficult to keep his temper most of the time, so his goal for this year was to settle down, get used to his new life and maybe make some friends if he could stomach it, but his new co workers weren't going to make it a walk in the park.

Dazai was bored. Bored of life, bored of piles and piles of documents and most of all, bored of the lack of entertainment.

Okay, maybe the piles were his fault, but        Kunikida-kun never bothered to make anything interesting around here, he was practically starving for some entertainment.

Lucky for him, apparently a new person was joining his team.

Fresh meat.

If this person wasn't interesting enough, he might as well hurl himself off the top story of the building that caused him so much annoyance.

No one would miss him anyway.

"Hngh-!"
Chuuya grunted as he lifted one of the many boxes out of the moving van. He knew the 'proper form' to carry heavy objects was to keep his back straight or whatever, but that was for fifty year old him to worry about, he couldn't care less right now, because he needed to get everything inside by today. There was a tall, American, ginger man who for some reason had his shirt unbuttoned, (weirdo) that had driven his things from the airport to the apartment complex for him. The man had even offered to help chuuya carry his things for him with a cocky grin and some shitty sales pitch to pay him extra, but of course chuuya declined with a scathing comment while also giving the man a dark glare at the same time.

He didn't need help, who did that tall bastard think he was!? He scowled as he lugged the box inside his new apartment.

To be quite frank, it was a really bad apartment. The fridge barely worked, there was only one window and the bed looked very rickety and it was absolutely caked with dust, but it was an improvement to the dorm he had been living in for around three years of his life. Maybe some decor and mess would make the place feel less like a prison and more like a home.

-

His hypothesis seemed to be half true, which was a passing grade in his books. The apartment certainly looked more.... passable, but it was still horribly bare. Half of the boxes he'd brought up were still unopened and shoved into corners (he promised to himself he'd unpack them after a rest, but we all know that's not happening any time soon) and the place looked more like an attic than an apartment. He had haphazardly stuffed his books and CDs onto the one shelf in the whole apartment and chucked some Muse posters up on the walls, but it still looked embarrassingly bleak.

....he should've expected this, he knew it was too good to be true, the pictures looked fine on the website and all, but what really drew him in was how damn cheap the place was. He had just moved, he didn't have enough money to afford a nice place to live, he barely had enough money to go out for dinner for goodness sake, you shouldn't be expecting quality with prices like that.

But he really thought it would look less atrocious than this. There was enough dust to kill someone with asthma instantly, and he swore there was mould growing in the bathroom, but whatever. He could deal with it. And this was only temporary, he had just managed to score a new job, so he'd be able to get a nice place than this in no time, for sure.

He took off his jacket and put his hat nearly away before he collapsed onto the bed with a sigh before almost immediately falling into a bout if coughing induced by the puff of dust and debris that came off of the bed when he sunk into it.

This was going to be a long, long year.

Click. Click. Click. Click.

".....Dazai."

Click. Click. Click.

"Yes, Kunikida-kunnnn~?"

"Do your work. Stop clicking the pen too, you're distracting everyone. You should set a good example to our interns."

Kunikida said sharply, gesturing to the sharp-eyed young lady sitting at a nearby desk. She had raven black hair and a blank face that betrayed no emotion. She was wearing a more traditional Japanese dress, but she had earrings with white rabbits on them, so she was a bit of a contradiction. She managed to get her work done, so he couldn't judge too hard.

Kunikida was typing with one hand, pointing with another and talking to Dazai at the same time, it was almost impressive. Truly awe-inspiring, his multitasking abilities were being wasted at this law firm, he could probably be an amazing government official.

"Awww, Kyouka-chan doesn't mind! And did you know, the sound of clicking increases productivity, you should try it Kunikida-kun!"

Dazai smirked to no one in particular. His face was smushed against the wood table as he ignored the growing pile of papers that was surrounding him. His computer had been on the screensaver for ages as he hadn't even touched the thing in hours. The whirring of the fans overhead was enough to keep him from falling asleep, but he would prefer to sit around bothering his coworkers than to actually do his job for once.

"Does it? I had no idea, I'll have to write down when I get home.... Fascinating..." He mumbled, pausing his work for a second to think about it, which was a miracle in of itself "But Dazai, you still have to do work, or I'll report you to the president. This behavior is unacceptable!"

Kunikida briefly sidetracked before snapping back to the problem at hand, Dazai's lack of productivity. He couldn't keep shoving his work onto poor Atsushi. He'd only just joined, and now he was being thrown all of Dazai's unfulfilled responsibilities. The poor boy was sitting at his desk with his head in his hands as he looked at the pile of paper that never seemed to go down, no matter how much he worked. It was like watching Sisyphus push the boulder up the hill, only for it to fall right back down again.

"I've already done so much work today though, I don't wanna do anymore!"

The words that came out of Dazai's mouth were overly childish as usual. It was only 9 am, how could he be giving up now!? Kunikida's head snapped around to dazai owl style. He stood up calmly and approached dazai's desk.

"Oh, are you now? Of course, you can just relax for the rest of the day alright?" He smiled politely before immediately contradicting himself. "Of course you can't! Get back to work or I'll make you wish you never had a job here in the first place!" He yelled, pulling dazai's head up and making him sit straight before storming back to his desk, typing away furiously.

Kunikida was confusing. He had just said he could laze around all day, only to yell at him! Honestly, he should just make up his mind. Dazai shook his head with a look of mock sorrow as he let out a sigh and shook his mouse to wake his computer up.

There was a new guy coming some time today, he was meant to show up on time, but obviously something came up if he was this late. The poor guy, he'd have to face Kunikida's wrath head on once he actually arrived.
