Chapter Text
"Dear Lan Zhan,
As the days go by, your deep piercing eyes haunt me day and night, looking into my soul and staying with me forever, reassuring me that you will always be there with me, no matter where I go. It took me ages to understand what you mean to me, but you always knew what you felt for me.
I have always been a nuisance to you, yet you have been so patient. I have always done what I felt like doing without thinking about any of the consequences. Breaking rules has been my speciality, but you have stuck to the rules like they were your life.
But... when it came to protecting me, you snapped like a twig.
Even though I didn't know, I could come back again but you still waited for me, like there was no tomorrow. I always thought of you as a stoic man who loves to live by the rules and never knew how to have fun.
There may be a Lan Zhan for the world to see, but when you are with me you are somebody else, especially when you are drunk; you are the sweetest lover one could ever possibly have. Be it our moonlight sword dances or the promenades at the Lotus pier, these are beautiful memories which I would always carry and treasure in my heart.
You never say much but your gazes have said a thousand words. That day your headband which I had casually tied around our hands did not only tie our hands but our fates too.
At all times, I have been doing things which I thought benefited my loved ones and never really thought about me, but from the beginning you have truly loved only me. I am indebted to you in this lifetime and all the lifetimes to come.
Even though for the world I am dead and gone, you still hold on to the child I had left behind, and even the rabbits were loved, as if they are your own and you never let go of them and I don't know of anyone who has loved someone so much.
Thank you for your eternal love, patience, faith and companionship (and loads of Emperors smile)
Yours forever in all eternity
Wei Ying
Wuxian"
