Work Text:

Ven laid against the inner garden wall in Radiant Garden, twirling his keyblade above his head. He didn't recognize it, a long and slender blade with green teeth like spikes. It couldn't have been his, he didn't even know its name. Still, he felt a pang of something deep within his heart whenever he thought about it.

Radiant Garden never seems to get dark, no matter what time it is, he realized. Kind of like... like what? He didn't know of any other worlds like this one. He felt that familiar pang again.

He dropped the keyblade to his side, still looking up at the sky. He tried to remember something, anything, about before his time with Master Xehanort, but he gave up soon after. He just closed his eyes and sighed.

"Well, this is a surprise."

Ven opened his eyes and looked up at the voice. Lea was standing above him, bag of ice cream in tow.

"Mind if i sit with ya?" He stepped over Ven's arm and sat on the wall by his feet, pulling out an ice cream. Wordlessly, Ven sat back up and shifted over, taking one of the popsicles Lea always seemed to have on him.

"New keyblade?" Lea pointed at the blade still next to Ven.

"I'm... not sure. I don't think it's mine, but it still feels familiar somehow..." he pointed it back out in front of him. He looked at it a moment longer before putting the keyblade away with another sigh. "What are you doing here anyway? I thought you're usually hanging around Twilight Town now."

"Yeah well, I decided to give the kids some space today. I can't hover around them all the time, you know. They need some friends their age, too." Lea gestured with the stick, "Though I could say the same to you."

"I was just out here to think... Now that Kairi's here, everyone at the castle has been so busy that there hasn't been much quiet. Not that I mind, but quiet time is still nice."

Lea only responded with a chuckle. A few moments of silence passed.

"Hey Lea..." Ven started, "Is there another world like this one? One perpetually in dawn?"

"Well it's not perpetual, it still gets dark here. But no, not that I know of," Lea replied. "Why, is something up?"

"No, it's just one of those... familiar feelings." He felt that pang again.

They both sat in silence a while longer.
