Work Text:

Oh No, you thought to yourself as you woke up. Your throat was burning and you could barely breathe. You were so congested. Not to mention the fever you were feeling. Ravaging your body and entirely dysregulating your internal temperature. Were you hot? Were you cold? You couldn't tell. All you knew is that you felt awful, and what made it even worse was the empty spot on the mattress next to you, signaling your boyfriend, Felix, wasn’t there to cuddle your pain away. “Ugh” you groaned as you flopped over on your other side in bed, too sick to even justify getting up yet. It was early too, and you hated getting up early, even when you had work. But you weren’t getting paid to be sick, so it was just fate testing your limits, and you were not one of god’s strongest soldiers.

A few hours later, you finally convinced yourself to rise from the comfy bed, you still felt like shit, but you couldn’t sleep anymore, and you were bored, and you missed Felix, plus you were hungry and really had to use the bathroom. So, after practically rolling out of bed and using the restroom, you trudged to your living room.

You were surprised to see your boyfriend right on the couch, he was playing a videogame and looking incredibly angelic despite the fact that he had yet to change his clothes from last night. Though to be fair, you were no better, so you couldn’t judge. But you kinda just stood there, brain processing your surroundings much slower than usual, you were shaken out of the trance you were in by your boyfriend’s voice.

“Good morning y/n! Sorry for leaving you alone in bed, you just looked so peaceful I couldn’t dare wake you” he chuckled and you could swear you felt your heart melt a little.

“No worries Lixie” you croaked back at him, his head tilted and a pout formed on his lips as he heard your sick voice.

“Are you okay angel? You don’t sound too good.”

“I’m fine, just a bit under the weather” Felix quickly put his controller down, and went over to you to feel your forehead.

“You’re quite warm love, you should sit down” he chided gently as he guided you to the couch. Game already forgotten. He was focused on you, and making sure you felt as okay as possible with your illness. He knew it wasn’t his fault, but he still felt terrible, he didn’t enjoy seeing the love of his life sick. It was the little ways he cared that made you love him even more every day.

“Baby, what were you playing?” You ask, feeling kind of guilty for tearing him away from it.

“Oh, just this new indie game I found, but that’s not important right now sweetie, do you need anything, need me to run out to the store or bake you some brownies or make your favorite lunch?”

“Honestly, can we just stay here for a bit? I really just want some of your love right now” Felix’s lips turn upwards and his teeth show through probably the warmest smile you’ve ever seen.

“Of course sweetheart! I am at your service” He says as he drags you into him on the couch, laying down on one of the arms and situating you on his chest as you nuzzle into his warm hoodie. For the first time in hours you felt pleasantly warm, and not in a cold sweat. And it was just such a great feeling, to be held, and loved by your partner. You didn’t think you could ask for anything else, but your stomach gave you away as it growled very loudly.

Your partner chuckled at the noise. “Ah, so you are hungry,” he said through a kiss to the top of your head. You dug even further into the man’s hoodie and nodded your head. Unable to escape your awfully rude gut, I mean the audacity, interrupting such a great cuddle session. “I’ll stay with you for a little longer but then I’m making you a sandwich.” You groaned in disappointment. Of course you were hungry, but you were just so cozy in Felix’s arms. You didn’t want to leave. It felt like he was a shield from your illness, keeping the germ demons from attacking your body, even though they already were.

After what felt like a measly 30 seconds (It was actually like, 30 minutes), Felix was sitting up and carefully pushing you off him to go make you a nutritious meal. Once again, you groaned. But you relented, not strong enough to fight back, and admittedly– really hungry, and you knew your boyfriend made a damn good sandwich. He made your food at what seemed like lighting speed and brought it over to you, of course with a warm, inviting cup of tea to soothe your aching throat. You took the tea and took a sip, not realizing how hot it still was. You grimaced as the tea burnt your throat the whole way down, and your boyfriend looked at you worriedly. After nearly boiling yourself alive, you looked at him sheepishly and chuckled. “I uh, definitely didn’t make my throat hurt in a brand new way”. Felix sighed in defeat. You were so clumsy, and as much as it worried him, it was one of the many things he adored about you. You finished your food, and your tea, which you let cool down before drinking again.

“y/n. Are you feeling okay enough to maybe play a round or two of Mario Kart?” Your eyes lit up, you loved playing Mario Kart, and Felix was well aware of this fact, you especially loved playing it with him. He figured it would be a great way to distract you, and when he saw your reaction, he knew he hit the nail right on the head. He walked over to the gaming console you bought together and turned it on, grabbing two controllers and tossing one to you gently. You were so excited you were practically buzzing, or maybe you were shivering from your fever, but that’s irrelevant. You turned on the game and started playing, both picking your favorite characters and karts and playing the cup with rainbow road.

Felix was destroying you, easily in first while you had to fight for third. Though you blamed it on barely being able to breathe, because normally you were a worthy opponent. Felix would’ve let you win, but he knew you would have more fun with a challenge. So he didn’t. After getting beaten in every race you were stressed out of your mind, but very energized, to the point where you forgot about even being sick.

The two of you ended up playing the game for several hours, throwing insults at each other when someone threw a red shell or stole an item. It was great, but eventually your energy ran out and your sickness caught up to you.

“Lixie, can we go back to cuddling?” You asked quietly.

“Of course honey! Whatever you want” He puts the controller down on the coffee table, taking yours and putting it next to his. Then pulling you back onto him on your shared couch. You remembered how cozy he was, and how tired you were. And you fell asleep almost instantly. Felix laughed a beautiful warm laugh once he heard you snoring peacefully. “I love you, love, get some rest,” he whispered to you as his breathing synced to yours and he fell asleep with you. Synchronized snores like a love language of sorts, both of you at peace.

You wanted him to take care of you forever, to exist in this man’s love for all of eternity.

And you were so glad to know that the feeling was mutual.
