Midnight Gas Station Trip

Summary:

A college student goes to the gas station after finding out she has nothing to eat.

Work Text:

It was 11:30 pm.

Chloe was lying down on her bed, feeling tired after finishing her homework.

She thought of going to bed, but she felt hungry.

Chloe got off her bed and went down to get something, only to find nothing. Not even a snack.

She didn't want to go to sleep on an empty stomach. So she decided to go to the gas station.

Gas stations are someone's first priority when they’re hungry and they have no food, right?

Chloe put on the appropriate attire, grabbed her wallet, and left her apartment.

After she got out of the complex, a dog tackled her, making her fall on the concrete. The dog jumps around excitedly.

“Hey!! Riley!! Calm down!!!” A man shouted from a far.

Chloe stayed in place until the dog’s owner arrived and tugged on her leash.

“Don't run off like that!” The man shifts his tone, “Sorry about my dog—she was probably chasing some squirrel down.”

“It’s fine…” Chloe said weakly while getting up.

The woman continues to walk down the street. She can still hear the barking from several feet away. She makes it to the station and heads inside.

The gas station was really narrow. It had a wet floor sign near the bathrooms, two ice cream stands near the entrance, and a checkout in Chloe’s field of vision.

She looked at the snacks on the shelves. It had a variety of sweets, chocolate bars, cookies, and gummies.

Chloe grabbed three chocolate bars and a bag of Funny Gummies.

She decided to walk down the aisle to get a drink. She finds some other delicious delicacies. She only grabbed a stick of gum.

Chloe looked through the glass and saw there were many drinks to choose from, but she decided on getting a Cream soda.

But Chloe noticed her hands getting full and put them in her jacket pockets before actually getting what she wanted.

Oh wait—she couldn't go without a bag of chips!

Chloe grabs two bags hanging from the rack. She finally headed to the checkout.

“Hey, how was your day?” The cashier said, forcing a smile.

“Oh nothing. Just got done with my homework.” Chloe said while putting the items on the counter.

“Oh? Are you in high school?”

“No, I’m in college. Senior year.”

“Ah, about to graduate. Sorry for assuming.”

“It's fine, I’m not mad.”

“Sheesh that's a lot.” Said the cashier, “A-anyway that’ll be 27.30.”

Chloe was relieved at the price. She thought it would be more.

Chloe inserts her credit card into the slot and pays.

The cashier puts all of the items in a bag and hands them to Chloe.

“Here’s your stuff. Have a nice day!”

Chloe grabs the bag and walks out with a smile on her face.

The night wind blew gently against her face. It was surely midnight now.

Chloe got a little creeped out. Her happiness turned into fear. She felt like she could be stabbed at the back at any moment.

Chloe tried to stay brave and focus on going back to her apartment, but when she got to the front door she heard someone scream.

Chloe got extremely freaked out and ran inside as fast as she could, mad dashing into the elevator.

Outside behind the bushes, hid a young boy holding his phone, playing random noises at night to scare people.

He sees that he has successfully scared off the woman into the building.

“Yes! I won!” Said the boy in triumph, "I'm the best scarer!"
