Work Text:
“What’re you thinkin’ about?” They felt the chest of the man they were laying on rumble as his fingers combed through their hair, idly stopping and starting in a way that felt like pure bliss.
“Hm?”
“I know you’re thinking, I can tell by the way you’re staring off into space.” He shifted slightly, and they tilted their head upwards to look at him in all his glory: lopsided, stubbled, hair tangled and dyed. Even his imperfections were perfect. And his smile as they met his eyes, struggling to contain all the adoration that was begging to be spilled out.
“Oh, nothing. Just you.”
His smile widened, “What about me?”
They blushed, which didn’t go unnoticed by him, even more so when they maintained their silence.
“C’mon now!” He laughed and grabbed their cheeks so they were looking at each other, “you’ve gotta tell me.”
Silence, and then an exasperated sigh which turned into a small shriek as he started tickling their side, “Okay! Okay okay I’ll tell you!”
They took a second to stop laughing and to catch their breath, before saying, “I was just thinking about how great you are-”
“A-ha!” He grinned triumphantly down at them, “I knew it!”
Ah god, they were laughing again. “-Wait! Wait let me finish!” He beamed down at them, signalling for them to go on, and they looked away, saying, “I was just thinking about how you know exactly how I feel all the time. How you know when I want to be touched and when it’ll make me uncomfortable. And I was thinking about how great you look onstage-”
They made the mistake of looking back up at him again. His grin now rivalled that of a Cheshire cat, wide and teasing. “No no, go on.” He prompted, wicked grin ever present.
They laughed. “No, you’re enjoying this way too much!”
He chuckled and conceded, “Alright, alright. Maybe you’re right.” His hands were still on their cheeks. “-But for the record-” he leaned down to plant a peck on their forehead, “-I also appreciate all those things you said, but about you. You know me better than myself.” His grin had softened into a smile.
“You know, your chin looks really weird upside down.”
A playful scoff-, “Ugh, how dare you! You wound me.” -before the two giggled like children, completely safe in the hold of the other.
