Chapter Text
Kyle stared at the sink, he'd been staring at it for 30 minutes. He was thinking about what he should do on the 4th of July since that was coming up.
“Maybe I shouldn't worry about it too much, it's like 2 weeks away.”
Kyle shook his head and went to his computer to watch stuff.
When he turned it on he saw that he had 5 notifications.
Kyle checked it out expecting nothing but junk but one notification caught his attention.
It was an E-mail from Janina.
“Hey there Kyle. I know its late but I wanted you to do me a favor. I have to be off work tomorrow since my grandson's birthday is tomorrow, but these old bones cant make something special by themselves anymore. So I want you to help me out.”
Kyle smiled as he read. He didn't mind helping out a literally old friend.
“Well, if you want I will. But I’d have to take a PTO.”
Kyle pulled out his phone and called his manager.
“Uh hey, can I take a bre-”
“WHO IS THIS!?”
Kyle nearly fell off his chair when he heard that yell.
“This... this is Kyle.”
“You don't sound like him!”
“I-I’m just tired right now…” Kyle tried making an excuse.
The manager didn't believe him, but just brushed it off.
“What do you want? Say it quickly—it’s past midnight!”
“I just wanted to ask if I could take a PTO. I have to help somebody. You can get another worker to take my job, or someone adjacent to the company.”
The manager accepted his request.
“If it's for someone you care about, then I’ll let you get the day off.”
Kyle internally cheered when he heard him say that.
“Thank you!”
“I just have to find somebody to take your place.”
“Good luck with that!” Kyle said before hanging up.
He looked at the clock and noticed it's time for bed.
“3 am… looks like it's time to go to sleep.”
Kyle got on his bed and rolled himself up with his blanket.
