Work Text:

It all happened in seconds. I couldn't even get the chance to gain the upper hand before a bright green light burned my vision. Then my skin. Whatever wavering breath I had was forced out of my lungs as they were crushed by the pressure and heat of that one beam. Who knew a pathetic kid like that could hold that much power; If I could stiffer a laugh, I would've.

But I couldn't. I couldn't even open my eyes. I couldn't twitch a finger. I was trapped in a shameful darkness. Silent, shameful darkness. Not a peep from me, not a peep from the world.

Is this what death feels like..?

Is this what others had felt..?

Fuck, it hurts. I can't move, but the intense tingling all over my body was unbearable. I want to tear at my own skin. I wanted this feeling to stop. It's horrible.

..Maybe I deserve it.

I mean, I ended countless lives. Why wouldn't I deserve this? A taste of my own medicine. Can't say I regret my actions. I don't. I don't think I will.

Hurting him would be my only regret. I never intended to be that way. I was trying to save us. I was trying to give us the true freedom and closure from that wretched cursor. From that 'Alan', and everything it's done.

I don't know what caused him to change. What caused him to betray me like that and take Alan's side. I won't ever know anyway. Time had stopped for me ages ago. I don't know how long I've been here. Or why I'm even reflecting. What's the point? Not like anyone can hear.

I'm not sure how long had passed since my thoughts went silent. The faint sound of my own heartbeat being the only thing telling me that I was, at the least, somewhat alive. But I soon felt something new.

..Hands? Someone found me..?

The next thing I knew, I felt air under my body. Yet a comforting warmth to my side. I was leaning into it. Not by my own will, but I wasn't against it either. It eased the forgotten physical pain.

The warmth had started moving as well, taking me with it. I don't know why it was. Should've just left me to rot alone like I deserve.

I was able to count how long we had been moving. 20- no. 30 minutes. Soon enough, I could feel my body being lowered onto a softer surface. The warmth was being gentle with my battered body it seemed. It soon left once it agreed I was comfortable. I wasn't. The pain was still strongly evident, no matter many times I try to forget it's there. Not that I could convey that.

Once again, I was left in cold silence. My faint heartbeat the only sound breaking it. It wasn't forever, the warmth returned. This time, tending to the body I was so careless with. Cleaning and wrapping the burning wounds that scattered my body. The treatment itself was painful, yet necessary. As much as I wanted to complain about the countless stinging sensations I had to endure, I had to let the warmth continue.

It seemed sympathetic of my situation. I'd occasionally feel a pair of soft lips on my forehead, belonging to the same warmth, mouthing the same two words, "I'm sorry", as if my own decided actions was its fault. It wasn't. It was mine. And I want it to stop apologising.

The gentle movements the warmth did as it tended the wounds and small pecks on my forehead calmed my nerves about the same irritating apology.

Unfortunately, it had to end when the warmth finished up with the wounds. They hurt less now. I could finally rest for a while, as much as I already have been. I felt more comfortable to do so now than before.

However, it seemed that the warmth had one more surprise for my broken code. I felt it climb onto the soft surface next to me, its weight changing the centre of gravity as it got comfortable beside me. An arm of sort being gently wrapped around my shoulders as the warmth settled more closely to me, but not enough to put pressure on my injuries. "I love you, Dark." it mouthed faintly against me. And by that I could finally, and confidently piece together my, now second time, saviour.

I love you too, Chosen..

..I'm sorry for what I've done.
