Work Text:

Mingi loved what he did.

But now that he's married to his high school sweetheart, he'd rather spend his days with his beloved than flipping through case files spread out before him.

The labor of love and the weariness of the flesh were evident on his face. Mingi let out a sigh and placed the file he was holding on the table. He took off his glasses, which had previously been perched on his perfect nose and rubbed his eyes.

His wedding band gleamed under the white light. Mingi's focus shifted to the ring he was wearing, a reminder of his union with Hongjoong, his perfect little husband. He smiled at the thought of his husband and wondered what he was doing right now.

Mingi looked at his wrist. It was already 12:30. Hongjoong taught Japanese to his students at this time. Although his Hongjoong owned a language school three blocks away from his law firm, Mingi had been forbidden by him to meet him during his teaching hours. According to his dear husband, his presence distracted the students. Even though he could not visit his partner himself, Mingi made sure that he ordered lunch for him every day from the best restaurants in the town and today was no different.

Hongjoong couldn't have wished for anything else in his life. He had everything--a caring husband, the language school of his dreams and a happy life.

And now, Hongjoong was busy teaching Japanese to his second group of the day.

"The kanji here means 'Big' (大)、and the mnemonic for this can be a person spreading their arms wide in anticipation of a big gift. If we use this...mark.. here, it becomes dog (犬), and if we add the character at the bottom instead, it becomes fat (太).
So far, any questions?"

Hongjoong asked after finishing the topic of the day.

The responses from the class were negative except for two or three queries.

"Alright, we'll do the on-yomi and kun-yomi readings tomorrow. As for the homework, everyone has to practice the strokes of the kanji we learnt today.
And class is dismissed"

He picked up his teaching materials and walked to his office in the back corner of the building.

"Mr. Song!"
Someone called out.

He turned his body to where the voice came from. It was Mingi's assistant, a recent graduate who knew how to handle even the toughest of the tasks.

"Your lunch, Mr. Song."

Hongjoong accepted the food and thanked him, not forgetting to offer him a cup of tea.

He took the food back to his office and pulled out his phone to text his lover. Thanking him for lunch, full of his favorites. The reply from other side came immediately, as if Mingi had been waiting for his text message for ages.

Hongjoong smiled to himself at his eager husband.
He thought about how he had three batches after lunch before he could finally spend time with his husband.

It was 18:00 o'clock when Mingi picked him up. He pecked his nose and held the door of his car open for Hongjoong.

When Mingi sat on the driver's seat, he pulled out a small box and gave it to Hongjoong. "What's this? The packaging looks adorable."
Hongjoong said, looking first at the box, then at Mingi and back at the box.

"Go on, open it,"
His husband gestured with his chin. Secretly wishing that his partner would like the present.

Hongjoong opened the box carefully. Before his eyes was a house made of jelly, exactly the same as the one he had seen on a video yesterday. It was so cute that he wanted one. However, what he didn't expect was Mingi to actually give him one. To say he was happy would be an understatement.

"Oh, my darling!.. That's beautiful. I love it, thank you."
He pulled Mingi towards him with one arm wrapped around his neck and kissed him until he was breathless.

Mingi gave him one last kiss and drove to their home.

.....

At the moment , Hongjoong was making dinner while Mingi freshened up.

Freshly bathed, Mingi came out wearing a loose tank top and matching shorts, his hair slightly damp.

"Shall we have dinner outside today?"
The weather was nice and cool, gentle breeze blew through the trees and the chirping of the crickets made the evening blissful. What could be nicer than having dinner outside with your loved one on an evening like this?

So, when his lover agreed. He took out a rug and a few cushions, and spread them out on the patio, just as Hongjoong preferred. Satisfied with his work, he went inside, to where Hongjoong was.

Hongjoong was arranging the food by the time Mingi came inside.
They carried the food outside and began eating while the cool breeze swept through their hair.

Days like these were Mingi's favorite, when they would sit together at the end of the day and talk about their day. Mingi cracking jokes in between just to hear his loved one laugh. Sometimes he ended up carrying Hongjoong to bed when he was too tired to stay awake.
