   Summary

   Five years after Voyager reaches Earth, Janeway thinks she has her life right with her steadfast "deeper than romance" friend Chakotay beside her. She pursues her career, while he tries a romantic relationship with someone else, but she knows eventually they'll be together. But after a visit from Chakotay's new fiance, she realizes things aren't as perfect they seem. Will she finally pursue a deeper relationship with Chakotay, or lose what she has forever?

   This story is inspired by Joan Power's one shot story "Set Him Free" which is linked on this page. That story stirred a lot of thought and controversy. Please read it before this one.
