Kiyoomi has never been a huge fan of physical contact. Everyone knew that. What they didn't know is how many times Kiyoomi had made up excuses or even just forgot that trait of his whenever he was with Atsumu. Just Atsumu. Just so that he could get that sliver of physical contact that he wanted. No, scratch that, that he needed.
It was like a flame that he probably never deserved yet still yearned for. The touch of Miya Atsumu in his palm, the warmth of it all flowing in his veins. The quiet moments of trying to act subtle as if he wasn’t bursting from the contact. Miya Atsumu was different. Far different from anyone else in Kiyoomi’s life. And far different than anyone else will be.

Kiyoomi had memorized All-youth camp fever since the first time he set foot in there back when he was a freshman. From every door that he passed by to the shortcut going to the nearest convenience store that none of the coaches knew. Yes, he was a rebel.
He also had memorized a particular face that he couldn’t help but think of everytime someone mentioned the color yellow or even the words “annoying” or “loud”. It was so easy to do so.
“So…” The familiar voice said, startling him as he turned around, those same brown eyes making him feel things that a simple stare shouldn’t give, “Yer room number’s 125?” The other tilts his head, ‘cute’ was all Kiyoomi could think of.
“Yeah… Nice seeing you again, Miya.” He fixed his mask, just in case the latter could see the blush on his face. “Omi! I would ‘ave thought ya’d forget callin’ me tha’!” Kiyoomi chuckled at him, “Oh please, why should I?” Atsumu glares at him, “Tch… typical of ya.”
Ever since last year they’d always been like this. Their words coming out in teases not meant for anyone else to hear. “Do ya still remember where the rooms are, Omi?” Kiyoomi didn’t know what had gotten into him as he shook his head.
“Let me guide ya then! I have a great memory ya know?” Atsumu gives him that confident smile but Kiyoomi knew full well he didn’t. He knew Atsumu despite the little interactions they had last year. He knew full well that Atsumu kept forgetting which rooms were for the coaches and which for the athletes. He remembered how they used to hide from the coaches as they sneaked back to their rooms. How could he not remember? It was their first interaction.
“Right…” A hint of skepticism in his tone, “Lead the way then, Miya.” He said as he grabbed the hem of Atsumu’s jacket. And just like that Atsumu lead the way around the camp with Kiyoomi behind him, an itch to hold Atsumu’s hand tailing Kiyoomi like a shark watching his prey.

It was their last winter break as highschoolers and Atsumu decided that his winter break would start lovely with a Kiyoomi coming to Hyogo for a week before Christmas so they can spend time together for once like normal friends.
It was a bit colder than Tokyo, Kiyoomi had to admit. He was lucky that he had brought more jackets just in case this happened. He was the one who spotted Atsumu first, his hands covering his mouth. This idiot didn’t have mittens.
Kiyoomi slowly walked up to Atsumu. “Miya.” Atsumu finally looked up at him, the instant smile on his face made Kiyoomi wanna melt on the snow. “Omi! Nice ta know yer cozied up fer the weather.” Kiyoomi hums, “Yeah, and you’re not.”
Atsumu, like the idiot he is, laughs it off, “Hehe, my bad. I mean, I did bring my mittens but I guess one fell out when I got to the door cuz when I tried to put my mittens on during the cab ride, one was missin! So I kinda just decided to not put mittens at all.” Kiyoomi wasn’t sure if that was a dumb idea considering how cold the weather seemed or smart because of how stupid he would look with a missing mitten.
“So yeah… Now I’m cold.” Kiyoomi sighed before asking where his mittens were. Atsumu tilted his head in confusion but still gave them to him. Kiyoomi helps Atsumu put on his mittens. It’s not like he couldn’t but Kiyoomi wanted to do it for him.
He then took out his own mitten, the thin ones that his mom bought him 3 years ago that somehow still never fit him quite right and put it on Atsumu before tucking both their hands in his pockets. “My pocket is a bit warm from the heater… Hopefully this helps with your temperature or whatever. Sorry my mittens are thin.” He says as he looks away, a different kind of warmth on his cheeks.
There’s a few moments of silence before he looks back at Atsumu who seems dumbfounded before he smiles at Kiyoomi, “Thanks, Omi-omi” Yeah, Kiyoomi could’ve melted in the cold.

The first time MSBY had their away game, Kiyoomi was seated right next to Atsumu. Of course he was the one who got the window seat, he didn’t like not having a wall to lean on and besides, Atsumu was the one used to talking to Hinata and Bokuto hours without end since they were right beside them.
He just didn’t expect that Atsumu wouldn’t be talking but rather sleeping. Sleeping on Kiyoomi’s shoulder as if it was casual. Hell, maybe it was but not for Kiyoomi, no never. Not when it was Atsumu on his shoulders whose warmth kept on making Kiyoomi want to pull him closer.
Kiyoomi stared at him for a few moments, a few moments too long that some started to notice but not too long that Kiyoomi seemed like he liked him. He did, but no one needed to know that. Not yet.
Kiyoomi sighed and looked away. He was so happy that he had a mask on or all hell would break loose and he’d end up targeted on their teasing. And as much as Kiyoomi didn’t have much effect with Atsumu’s teasing — he did, just not the kind you’d expect when someone is calling you a prickly man — he just didn’t want anyone to tease him that wasn’t Atsumu. It would be a pain if it was anyone but Atsumu.
He wanted Atsumu. He always has, ever since their hands interlocked as they ran through hallways trying to get to their rooms back in their freshman year. Ever since he bewitched him with teases and bickers that Kiyoomi couldn’t help but yearn for. He yearns for Atsumu.
Atsumu, still sleeping, moves himself closer to Kiyoomi, hugging Kiyoomi’s arms as if he was a stuffed animal. Kiyoomi felt warmer, pulling up his mask, it probably wasn’t helping at his point.

The first day Kiyoomi moved in with MSBY, he didn’t know whether or not he liked it. Was waking up to the sound of loud chatter really what he wanted? Or how about waking up to see other people that he wasn’t that close with so early in the morning? Or waking up to Atsumu first thing in the morning with a smile on his face telling him good morning?
…He could handle it.
“Omi, don’tcha know how to dry yer hair or somethin? Ya look like a drowned doll” Atsumu commented the moment he went downstairs after his shower, his towel still wrapped around his shoulders. “Hm… Komori is the one that usually dries my hair while I drink coffee…” He can do it later anyways after he gets his coffee. He didn’t like starting his day so early without coffee.
“Oh. Need help? Samu and I used to style Ma’s hair when she was stressed to make her feel pretty.” Kiyoomi blinked as he looked at Atsumu before looking away and walking to the kitchen counter where the coffee machine was, “If that’s what you want.”
So while Kiyoomi was busy making his coffee, Atsumu was getting his own blow dryer from his room to use on Kiyoomi. Kiyoomi sat on the couch as Atsumu sat on one of the kitchen stools that he dragged. The moment Kiyoomi felt Atsumu’s hands on his hair, he felt more relaxed than he has ever been ever since he moved in.
He drinks his coffee as Atsumu keeps drying his hair, “Am I doin this correctly?” Kiyoomi just hummed at him as he closed his eyes, coffee on his lap.
Atsumu chuckled, “Ya look so relaxed, Omi.” Of course he did. A coffee in his hands and Atsumu near him with Bokuto and Hinata not yet back from their morning run and the others still asleep.
“Guess I’m dryin’ yer hair everyday now, huh?” He would love that.

Kiyoomi didn’t know that Atsumu could be this drunk, his body clinging onto him for dear life. Not that he minded, of course.
“Omi…” Atsumu mumbled, his speech sounding slurred. “Yes?” Kiyoomi answered as he plopped Atsumu on his bed after helping him brush his teeth. He’s not even gonna bother helping him change clothes, the man is too drunk for that.
“Don’t go yet…” Atsumu seemed like a child. A clingy one at that. It wasn’t like Kiyoomi wasn’t clingy either, he was just more subtle at it. Yet he’s pretty sure he’s just grown clingier the more subtle he tries to be.
“I won’t” He didn’t want to anyways. How could he possibly leave a drunk Atsumu to himself? Who knows what the heck he’d get himself into. Atsumu gives him a soft smile before wrapping himself back onto Kiyoomi and burying his face on his shoulders. Kiyoomi resigns himself to it. How could he not?
The next time Kiyoomi wakes up, Atsumu is still buried under him, smelling like alcohol with the softest face ever. Kiyoomi’s heart beats quietly, quickly.
+1
“Omi I’m so sorry” Atsumu said as he buried his face in his palms. He had been apologising to him the moment they woke up. This was honestly Kiyoomi’s fault for not standing up the moment they awoke. Too caught up in the moment to do so.
“It’s fine.” Kiyoomi replied, watching as Atsumu paced around the room. “Ya sure? I mean, it’s fine if yer uncomfortable? Wait, no, I mean, it’s not fine if yer uncomfortable ya know? I just-...” He chuckled. Miya Atsumu, an egoistic bastard, worrying whether or not Kiyoomi was uncomfortable.
“I’m fine, Miya. I quite liked the distance” He also liked waking up to Atsumu right beside him. “Hm… Keep saying things like that and I might think ya like me, Omi” Kiyoomi knew what he was saying was meant jokingly. A sarcastic comment meant to tease to ease the awkward tension.
Kiyoomi didn’t comment on it. He didn’t say anything, do anything other than stare at Atsumu like he always had. “Omi?” Atsumu called out while Kiyoomi finally noticed the pink in his cheeks. How he notices Atsumu’s hands starting to fidget and the tension in the room changing.
“Maybe I do.” He finally says, slowly. Watching as Atsumu processed the words Kiyoomi had said. It takes a few minutes before Atsumu’s face blushes a bit more, “Oh..”
“Too sudden…?” Kiyoomi asks. He’s still not certain whether or not what he’s guessing is true. Well, what he’s hoping for, at least. “Ya uhm.. Ya like me…?” Atsumu says hesitantly. They’re looking at each other again and Kiyoomi’s heart feels like it might burst.
“Yes.” He wasn’t going to hide it. Not to Atsumu.
“ Oh. ”
“Since when?” Atsumu continued to ask. “Our first meeting. You know, when you were stupid enough to lead us back to our rooms when we both knew that I had a better route?” He tries his hardest not to smile as he remembers. It’s been years. 5 years to be exact yet he never did forget it.
“So… We’re in the same boat, huh?” Atsumu comments, his eyes moving away from Kiyoomi once again. “Are we?” Kiyoomi asks for confirmation, for another word coming out of Atsumu’s lips.
“We are.” Kiyoomi’s smile finally forms on his face, “So… Would you mind sharing a boat with me?” Would you mind sharing a life with me? Waking up with me by your side? Holding your hand whenever I could? Would you mind?
“I would like that, yeah” Atsumu answers, finally, he does.
