Semester 2- Distant Dissident

Summary:

The second semester brings the cadets back from a great winter break. Chilled Chaos, Kara Corvus, and Taydertot don’t expect to have to work together again. However, Larry Fishburger and APlatypuss prove them wrong when they reveal that Pasta had been blackmailed into killing Jeremy. So with the help of a new friend, the five are thrown into a new adventure of stopping the blackmailing dissident.

Chapter 1: A New Semester

Chapter Text

It was a bright, sunny morning when a chill swept through the air. The Cadets were returning for a brand new and hopefully calm semester. Everyone saw their floor mates and were rejoining with friends after the break. The cadets that had stayed had just ended some non essential classes that took place over breaks.

Larry and Platy were sitting in Larry’s room, both frowning and sitting in a creepy sort of silence.

“We have to tell them,” Platy eventually said and Larry looked at him. He wasn’t all to thrilled with that idea, he barely wanted to believe it himself. “If Pasta is in there-“

“Wrongfully?” Larry looked up suddenly and Platy reeled back. Larry knew what Platy was talking about, he was referring to what Pasta had said when they went to visit her at the start of break. “She killed him, Platy. She killed Jeremy,”

“But if there’s hope at all that maybe she could be released, isn’t that worth a shot?”

“Fine. Let’s talk to the others,” Larry hesitantly agreed.

Tay stepped out of the elevator, effectively ditching her brothers and whoever else was in there. FooYa and Elaina were already sitting in the small common area.

“What’s up bitches?” Tay called as the elevator door slid closed behind her.

“Tay!” Elaina called over with a small smile. Tay could understand why, it was weird knowing that Pasta wasn’t joining them this time. After what happened the previous semester…

Well, Tay was kinda glad that she wasn’t gonna be there.

Not that she didn’t love Pasta, but she was pretty sure that she would have a much easier time sleeping if there wasn’t a murderer on the same floor as her.

“What’s been happening?” FooYa asked and Tay shrugged as she sat down.

“I went home with my idiot brothers, what else is there to say?” She responded. When FooYa and Elaina went into what happened to them over break, nothing really compared to the excitement to the previous semester.

Despite how exciting and interesting the last semester had been, she would be glad if she never had to talk to any of the others again. Save Chilled because that was still her brother.

Kara escapes her brothers the moment she could, thankful to be out of the house of boys and into a floor of girls. It would be a goddamn welcome change to her normal life.

“Kara!” Apple said with a smile.

“Hey, you stayed over break right?” Apple nodded.

“I did. I took a class with DK for the most part,”

“Oooh, about what?” Kara asked and Apple grinned.

“Bombs,”

“Bombs?!” Kara was shocked that that was even allowed but Apple nodded.

“It was only me and someone else,” Apple said and soon Em and Court joined them.

“Are you guys ready?” Em asked, launching herself over the back of the couch and into a seat.

“I wonder what will happen,” Kara didn’t like the look Courtilly was giving her, head tilted to the side and a sly sort of smile. She decided to just brush it off. Even if Court did know what happened last semester, nothing was going to happen this time. She was just gonna spend it hanging out with her brothers.

Platy took the stairs down to his floor, which sucked because it was still a floor down from Larry's room, but it was easier than taking the elevator when everyone was trying to move back in. Platy flashed a smile at Junk who seemed to be walking in.

They had both stayed over the break, and Platy knew Junk was taking some classes. Platy had wanted to, but Larry had been so distraught since talking to Pasta that he had been hesitant to leave his side.

“I’m back!” The voice of their youngest cadet came from the elevator and Junk seemed to let out a heavy sigh. Platy tried to stifle his laughter at the sound.

“Welcome back Cheesy,” Platy said.

“So what did you two do over break?” Cheesy asked as he sat down, grinning.

“I took a few classes,” Junk said.

“I did absolutely nothing,” Platy countered with a grin. “What happened with you?” Cheesy then launched into whatever tale that allowed Platy to not fully listen.

Larry eventually stood up from his bed and walked out into the common room. He put a smile on his face when he saw Greg because he figured he may as well wait for Speedy and Sidearms to arrive.

Maybe this semester he could actually put focus on getting with them, instead of tracking down a murderer that happened to be his sister.

He wasn’t even sure he fully believed what she told him and Platy.

“Hello kings!” Side called as he stepped out of the elevator with Speedy by his side and holding his hand. As always.

“Hello pretty boys,” Larry cooed as Greg called his own greeting. Side giggled at Larry and Speedy seemed amused. Which was good, he really wasn’t sure which one would be harder to woo but he had a bet that it was gonna be Speedy.

“What did you guys do over break?’ Speedy asked as they both sat down, Side curling into his side.

“I took a class,” Greg said. “Junk took the same class,”

“Dreamt about you two, of course,” Larry responded with a grin.

Chilled stepped out of the elevator onto the top floor, taking a small breath in.

“Ze!” He was pleasantly surprised to see the cadet already sitting in the lounge area and without Skadj too. A rare sight.

“Hello Chilled,” Ze said with a smile. “How was your break?”

“It was good. I got to relax and see my tortoise,”

“You have a turtle?”

“No, no,” Chilled was going to correct him, he corrected everyone. “A tortoise,” he said with a grin. A door opened and Skadj walked over, grinning as he sat down next to Ze. Damn, Chilled half hoped he would’ve stayed gone.

Bonsai eventually joined them too, and the four fell into a pleasant conversation as the creep of the new classes the next day came ever closer.
