Chapter Text
ONE
The Journey Begins
One gloomy morning, a girl named Abigail got on the bus and sat down near the window and stared out. She had short brown hair, lightly tanned skin, freckles and green eyes. A boy and another boy sat next to him, they both sat in the bus seat behind Abigail.. The boy sitting behind her stood up and leaned on the empty seat next to her, she jumped up a bit at his sudden move. Abigail noticed that the boy had brown eyes, dark brown hair, and tanned skin, and a happy demeanor, while the other boy had blond hair, slate blue eyes, and a moody demeanor.
‘Hi, my name’s Noah and this here is my cousin Mark, He’s French.’ He said. He had a British accent.
‘H-Hi.’
She said softly then she turned her head to face the window again. Noah continued to talk about something but she didn’t pay attention. Instead she put her headphones that were around her neck on and played music from her phone. Once the bus had arrived at their school Noah said
‘Oh, we're here already!’
Abigail opened her eyes and saw the school building or as she referred the ‘hell house’. She got all of her stuff and got off the bus the two boys who were previously behind her were following her into the school. Noah couldn’t help but talk more and more Abigail thought to herself ‘Great now I'm going to get a headache before school even starts, what my luck’. Noah interrupted himself and said
‘What class are you in? I’m in class 16 B’
Abigail almost froze but then she heard some yelling and shouting from the other end of the hall. She tilted her head up and saw a fight was going on ‘A fight? At this hour already?’ she thought.
‘GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE-’
‘CALM DOWN WILL! IT'S TOO EARLY FOR THIS!’ Two people said in the crowd a girl and a boy, they seemed to be related. The girl was holding what looked like a twin brother in her hands. The girl was holding him back from punching the guy he had given a black eye to. Abigail looked into the fight, her mouth falling a bit open and her eyes widening a bit. Noah saw the fight too and went over and helped stop the fight, then he went back to Abigail's side. Abigail continued to walk to class as well as Noah continued to talk all the way to class. When they got to their class, Abigail didn’t hesitate to walk over to the window seat. Noah sat down at a desk across from her. Noah’s cousin Mark, sat behind Abigail. A bit later, the two look-like-twins ran into the class just as the bell rang. They were grunting that they had been late on the first day of school. The teacher then, was right behind them and said
‘It’s alright. As Long as you guys get here before me, I won't count it as late.’ the two exhaled in relief. They sat down in front of Abigail. Abigail lowered her head a bit; she really didn't want to have to do anything with those four. The teacher assigned a group project and you could only have up to six people in a group.
Abigail raised her hand; the teacher called out on her.
‘Can we work alone?’ Abigail said
‘No, this is a group project because it is hard so you can’t work on your own.’ the teacher responded
Abigail sank in her seat a bit.
‘You may now pick your groups.’ the teacher said. Noah obviously picked Mark and Abigail. The two look-like-twins asked if they could join and Noah agreed. A boy walked over to us and politely said if he could join too, Noah, once again, agreed. They now all had the max amount of people in a group Noah said, ‘Why don't we all introduce each other. I’m Noah, and this here is my cousin Mark.’ Abigail spoke up,
‘I’m Abigail.’ the girl of the two twin-look-likes said,
‘Cool name. Mines Jessie.’ Abigail smiled while looking at the floor and tilting her head down slightly. The boy of the look-like-twins said,
‘Hi! Names William. And if you haven’t already noticed, we're twins!’ William said pointing to Jessy and back to him he did it for a bit then put down his hand.
Abigail thought to herself, ‘I was right, those two are twins!’
The last boy that asked to join the group muttered his name quietly. Too quiet to hear. Jessie spoke up.
‘I’m sorry. What did you say your name was again?’ The boy fidgeted with his fingers a little bit before saying his name again.
‘M-my name is Oliver.’ He said with a nice soft voice, it was refreshing to Abigail to finally see someone just as bad at greetings as her.
After a few minutes of discussing the teacher said,
‘OK! Time’s up, everybody back in your seats!’
Everyone rushed back to their seats. Later that day, The group was told to meet up after school. Noah asked all of the others, including Abigail, for their phone numbers. They all exchanged numbers and made a group chat. Noah somehow found Abigail's house and on their private chat he sent her a picture of him and her door and texted with that picture ‘At your house should i call the others here?’
Abigail was in the middle of doing a hard ballet pose and grunted when she heard the two dings on her phone. She stopped what she was doing and went to go look at her phone. She saw Noah’s picture and let out an angry breath, and texted back ‘Don’t you dare!’
Then there was a ding on the door bell. Noah responded to the text ‘That's me at the door with my cuz Mark!!’
Abigail restrained herself from punching a hole in the wall. Her parent’s got to the door before she could tell them not to open the door. She heard Noah’s voice.
‘Hi, my name’s Noah. I'm a friend of Abigail. Oh, and this here is my cousin Mark’
‘Good to meet you Noah, Mark Abigail is upstairs. Would you like to come and sit down till she comes down?’ Abigail’s mom said.
‘Of course Mrs. Uh... What’s your name’s?’ Noah asked them.
‘How silly of me to forget to introduce myself, I'm Grace, and this is my husband Dan.’ Grace said letting them inside the house.
‘It’s ok Grace, I mean, I would want to know a bit more about the random person trying to get in my house too.’ He said.
Both him and Mark walked inside and sat at the dining table. Grace call for Abigail to come down.
‘Anyways,’ Grace started to say.
‘Why are you guys here again?’ she said smiling while also sitting down across from Noah.
Abigail walked down stairs and said,
‘He’s here for a group project, mom.’ Noah looked over to Abigail who was now walking to sit next to her mom, and he just smiled. Abigail rolled her eyes. Dan, Abigail’s dad, sat down at the table and started speaking.
‘So, how’d you three meet?’
“Uh, we met on the bus to school.” Noah said. Mark nodded his head.
‘Yah dad, just don’t stress it..’ Abigail said, putting a hand on her cheek. Noah smiled at Abigail again
‘So is it just you three?’ Abigail’s mom said
‘No , there's three more but Abigail said not to bring them over.’ Noah said knowing he messed up by calling Abigail out like that. Abigail said nothing but she only stared at Noah deathly.
‘Abigail! Why not?!’ Grace said
Abigail rolled her eyes before saying ‘Mom they’ll be too much.’
‘That’s not a proper reason, young woman! They are all coming over or you’re going over to their house.’ Grace exclaimed.
‘But mom-’ Abigail was cut off by her father
‘No buts it's one or the other’
Abigail sank in her seat, crossed her arms, and looked to the side then let out an annoyed breath. Her parents looked at her then looked at eachother. Noah stopped smiling and just looked at Abigail, He knew what it was like to do something that she didn't want.
‘So, Abigail…are we going to bring everyone here or are we having a sleepover at William’s and Jessie’s house?’
Noah said. Abigail didn't want a mess in her room let alone the whole house so she said.
‘Fine, I'll get ready for a sleepover at their house…’
Noah smiled again as Abigail went over to her room and packed up her stuff. Her parents talked a bit more with Noah and asked some more questions here and there. After about 20 minutes Abigail came back down from her room. She was holding a duffle bag and all her stuff was in that bag. Once Abigail made it down the stairs, her mom and dad helped her with her stuff and put it in their car. Since Mark and Noah walked there from their house they didn't want to walk more so Abigail’s parents allowed them to come in the car so Grace could drive them to their house then to the twin’s house.
It was rather a slow drive since there was a week worth of packing. In the group chat that Noah had made, he had texted ‘everyone to meet at William’s house. and to be ready to stay for one week’. The whole group chat blew up, all agreeing to the plan. After what felt like 40 minutes, Noah and Mark came out of their house. Abigail was in the front seat watching videos on her phone while her mom was at the wheel doing the same. Mark and Noah put their bags in the back and got back in the car. Grace put her phone down and once the boys were buckled in, she started to drive.
Noah being himself started to ask Grace questions.
‘So, Grace….If you had to describe me how would you do so?’ said Noah
Grace replied with,
‘Oh….hm…I don't know yet but if I get to know you for a bit longer then maybe i’ll have an answer for you, if that's alright dear’
When Abigail heard her mom call Noah ‘dear’ she turned her head to her mother and gave her mom a hard stare. Her mom realized what Abigail was doing then she said.
‘What’s wrong now Abby?’
‘Mom…Don’t call me that around them’ Abigail said, putting her phone down and putting her legs up so she can snuggle her head on her legs.
‘But why not? I’m sure they don’t mind.’ Grace said as she stopped at a stop light.
‘Yah, I don't mind….Don’t know about Mark though..’ Noah said, interrupting the tension that was building up.
‘I don’t really mind either..’ Mark said very quietly
Mark isn’t normally the one to yell and be very emotional like the rest of the group. Noah knew about this so then he repeated what Mark said but louder not forget to say that Mark had said it originally.
‘Nobody asked you, Norseman..’ Abigail said with a mumble since her head was still on her legs.
‘ABIGAIL YEARWOOD! What is the matter with you today?!’ Grace said.
Her voice was so mad that even Noah and Mark freeze in their seats. A fight between a mother and her daughter went on for a bit but ended when Abigail said this.
‘I HATE YOU MOM! I’D RATHER LIVE WITH THESE TWO THEN WITH YOU!’ Abigail turned to the window and looked outside the car after saying that.
Noah and Mark were still frozen from the bickering from Abigail and her mom. But all Noah and his cousin did was look at each other then look out the window of the car as well.
The rest of the car ride was silent that even the slightest movement was heard. The tension in the car was too much for Noah and Mark to handle so they started to talk to each other in the back of the car. Yet, they talked very quietly as if they were in a library. Abigail and Grace still said nothing the way there. But, Thankfully, they got there after about ten to twenty minutes. The rest of the group was there already waiting in the driveway. Abigail was the first to get out of the car when it stopped. Noah and Mark still had to get their things from the trunk though. After a couple minutes of them getting their stuff, they finally had everything, and the rest of the group helped them bring the stuff inside.
(~|`°-°`|~)
Once everything was inside, Oliver spoke up.
‘What happened? You guys seem tense…’ He was talking to Abigail, Mark and Noah.
Noah being the nice person he is said,
‘Long story Olly, can’t explain now, sorry’ He was moving some of the duffle bags into the big guest room while saying this.
‘It’s ok, I understand…’ Oliver said not paying any attention that Noah had just called him a nickname. That he was definitely not expecting.
William stole Oliver so they could talk and get to know each other way more than they already did. But, since his twin was also there she just had to do the same but with Abigail. The four were going on and just yapping about random stuff while Noah and Mark were doing all the hard work. When the boys finished doing all the work they went to the couches and sat down. Mark, not wanting to talk to anyone, sat at a couch that only had one spot for only one person to sit at. Jessie saw him all by himself. She guessed that he didn't want anyone to come over and talk to him. Yet she wanted to so she did. Jessie picked up a conversation with Mark; he hardly replied but she didn't care. Noah walked over to Abigail and started to yap non-stop. Abigail rolled her eyes, Noah pretended he didn’t see it, but Abigail knew he did. William stopped talking to Oliver and walked over to Noah and those two started to talk. Abigail just stared at it happening. Oliver looked at the two boys talking then looked at Abigail.
He walked up to Abigail and tapped her shoulder and said,
‘H-hi…’ Oliver said it in more of a whisper.
‘Oh…Hi..’
The tension Abigail felt while talking to Oliver was not good. She felt really embarrassed and panicked.
‘You’re…You’re Oliver right?’ Abigail questioned
‘Y…Yah’
‘Ok, do you like to be called…um…’ Abigail pondered trying to remember what William had called him.
‘Olly?’ Oliver guessed.
‘Yah, that…Do you like being called that?’
‘...I…Don’t really know…it kinda sounds even more pathetic than just the name ‘Oliver’...’
‘The name ‘Oliver’ doesn't sound pathetic…’
Oliver looked at her with a ‘Are you serious?’ face.
‘Ok…maybe just a little?...Maybe…’ Abigail smiled nervously.
She and Oliver just laughed quietly to themself. Then…The awkward silence hit.
‘So, what's your favorite color?’ Abigail said nervously.
If they had to be in a team together, then she might as well get to know him.
‘Shady Green, you?’ Oliver responded with a smile.
‘Dark Red!’ Abigail said with enthusiasm.
‘So, like…Wine Red?’
‘Mhm!’ Abigail nodded.
‘What's your favorite cartoon?’ Abigail asked.
‘Hm..Tarturana…I think’
‘Oh, What's it about?’
‘A girl who really likes this dude and then ... .wait are you going to watch it?’
‘No, but if you want me too then I will’
‘Ok, then, she has to fight in a war while her lover just stays at home and worries about her. They send notes to each other, then her lover dies from a bomb that exploded near their house… It's a really sad cartoon actually.’
‘Wow…that's…different..’ Abigail chuckled nervously after that.
‘But anywho, what about you? What's your favorite cartoon?’
‘Don’t have one…’
‘What?’
‘I don't have a favorite cartoon.’
‘Why not?’
Their conversation broke from the sound of broken glass.
‘Sorry Will!’
Abigail's guess was that Noah had broken a glass cup and was saying sorry for it. Because, now William is running over and those two are bickering. Abigail sighed and sat down at an empty chair. Oliver sat down next to her. They weren't talking, they just listened to different conversations. Oliver listened to William’s and Noah, and Abigail listened to Jessie's one handed conversation to Mark. At one point, William and Noah made a truce. In the morning Noah was to go and buy a new glass cup, William walked over to Oliver and took him away and they talked. Noah walked over to Abigail and sat down next to her. He was holding a glass of juice.
‘So, how are you doing so far?’ Noah said.
‘I still hate you for what you did.’
Noah smiled clearly regretting what he did.
‘Well, besides that, how are you?’
‘Meh, couldn’t get better’
‘Damn, that bad huh?’
Abigail nodded.
‘What’re you drinking?’ Abigail said while pointing at the cup.
‘Oh, I really don't know’
‘Why would you drink it if you don't know what it is?’Abigail was looking at him with a ‘are you serious?’ face.
‘I donno,’ He shrugged
She rolled her eyes and tapped her fingers on the table. Abigail looked over to Jessie and Mark and they were having a surprisingly good conversation. She looked back at Noah then looked away.
She wants to curse herself for even thinking to stick up a conversation with…That, idiot. He didn’t notice she was looking ‘cuz he was too busy trying to balance a pencil that he found on the ground, on the top of his mouth. While he did that he would run over to wherever William was and say if he liked his ‘mustache'. She rolled her eyes at how stupid this guy was. Noah ran up to Abigail.
‘Like my ‘mustache’?’ Noah said with a silly grin.
She rolled her eyes. Noah was so close to her at the time that she had to push him back. So she did. She put her hand on Noah’s face and shoved him back a bit. Noah almost fell back but he caught himself on the table quickly. He then proceeded to act like he was really sad with me and he ran back to william, and now ‘sadly’ said.
‘Do you…like my ‘mustache’?’ In the middle of the pause to be extra dramatic he sniffled. Abigail sighed and shook her head when she heard him say this. Oliver, who was next to William at the time, snickered at Noah. Abigail almost forgot what they were here for.
‘So are we going to do this project or not? Abigail said loud enough for everyone in there to hear.
‘Oh, right, I completely forgot about that, hah.’ Noah said.
‘Yah, I think we should probably do that for now. I mean, that is the main reason that where are here…Right?’ Jessie agreed.
‘Mhm.’ Mark mumbled.
‘I mean, I don’t mind, I think we should.’ Oliver said.
‘Sure’ William said while putting his arm around Oliver’s shoulders. They both didn’t seem to mind.
Abigail then stopped in her tracks.
‘No!’
‘Hm?’ Noah said.
‘The teacher didn’t give anyone the assignment!’ Abigail sounded pissed, because now, she was at Jessie’s and William’s house for no reason. The only reason she agreed to go to their house, was because of the project, but now since they didn’t have that, she was there for no reason.
‘Oh…well, tomorrow we’ll ask and maybe he’ll give it to us?’ Jessie said.
‘Yah, he’ll have to give it to us. Otherwise we could sue him for wanting us to fail that class!’ William said while still having his arm around Oliver and his other in the air.
‘S-shouldn’t be that hard…R-right?’ Oliver said.
Jessie shrugged. Abigail realized that when she said for all of them to start on the project, they all moved near her. Even Mark sat at a chair away from her, but still near. She felt way more comfortable around them, as if….As if they all made a little family. She quickly took that idea out of her mind. Her focus shifted back to the project. She was getting stressed out about it.
‘Hey girl,’ Someone said while putting their hand on her shoulder. Abigail looked to see who had touched her. It was Jessie. She was smiling while talking.
‘Chill while you can, we have no idea how hard this project is going to be. Rest and stay calm while you can.’ Jessie finished.
Abigail nodded.
‘Yah, you’re right…I should calm down while I still can, it's probably for the best..’
‘Adda girl!’ Jessie said while putting her arm around Abigail’s shoulders like William did to Oliver.
‘So.. What now?’ Oliver said.
Noah put a hand on his chin then took it off and snapped his fingers.
‘We can play truth or dare, or, would you rather?’ Noah said after he snapped his fingers.
‘I’m down.’ Said William.
‘Same here!’ Jessie said.
‘I-I-I guess it couldn’t hurt to play a bit..’ Oliver said.
‘I’m in too.’ Mark said quietly.
Abigail sighed and then finally said.
‘Ok, Truth or Dare it is.’
Everyone was happy that she finally agreed to play the game. They all sat in the living room in a circle.
‘Ok, i’m first!’ Noah said. ‘Truth or Dare?…Oliver!’ ‘OH!.. Uh m-me?’ Oliver said.
‘Is there another Oliver in this house?’ Noah responded.
‘Ok…um..Truth..’
‘Hm..What’s the biggest secret you’ve kept from your parents?’
‘I…Don’t have any, my parents were my best friends forever, so I always tell them everything.’
‘Man Oliver, then this stuff is gonna be hard.’
Oliver giggled.
‘Ok..It’s my turn now…right?’ Oliver asked Noah.
‘Mhm!’ Noah said
‘OK then….Abigail..Truth or Dare? Oliver said now looking over at Abigail
‘Dare’ Abigail said with confidence.
‘Ok! Do an impression of another person in this room until someone can guess who it is.’
‘Oh ... .Wow..Ok’ Abigail found a pen lying nearby, she picked up the pencil and put it on her upper lip, and pretended it was a mustache.
‘THAT’S NOAH!!’ shouted William.
Abigail took the pen off of her upper lip. ‘Got it spot on Will.’
‘Ok, my turn, Jessie, Truth or Dare?’
‘Hm…Truth!’
‘What’s your biggest childhood fear?’
‘Ooooo, good thinking, it’s spiders, I had a love-hate relationship with spiders.’
‘Yeah, when spiders weren’t near, she would love to draw them and examine them, then when she saw even a glimpse of a spider she’d run over to me screaming ‘BROTHER!!! BROTHER!! THE SPIDER WANTS TO EAT ME!!’ …Ahhhh, fun times.’ When William was mocking his sister he said it in a really funny way that made everyone laugh except for Jessie. She was fuming.
‘O,K!’ Jessie said and in a little bit everyone’s laughter died down. ‘My turn, William, Truth or Dare?’
‘You know what, Dare, lets see what you got sis!’
‘Is that a bet?’
‘Bet.’
‘I, Jessie Kingendorf, Dare thy, William Kingendorf, To put on a blindfold and touch the other players' faces until you can figure out who's who! How’s that for something, Brother..’ Noah snickered as William’s mouth hung open. William then closed his mouth and said,
‘BET!’ William ran over to his room and came back, stood in the spot he sat in before and put the blindfold on. ‘Try me, le-go!’
‘Bet’ Jessie said as she told everyone to stand up and go into a straight line in front of William. She didn’t name anyone though. Noah was first. William reached out in front of him and felt Noah’s face then after two to three minutes, William called out.
‘Noah?’
‘Yes!’
The next in line was Mark. Mark was a tall guy, so when William reached out his hands hit Mark’s arms. William laughed uncomfortably, then he let Mark direct his hands to Mark’s face. After a bit, William said,
‘Only Mark is that tall, It's gotta be him yo. If it’s not imma tweek out.’
‘Yah it’s me bro..’
‘HAHA! KNEW IT!!’
Abigail was next. She was more hesitant to move forward. William did the same thing.
‘Jessie?’ William finally guessed wrong.
‘Uh..No, It’s Abigail..’
William cursed. Jessie snickered. Oliver was next. For some reason, Abigail really wanted to see how this would turn out. And by the looks of it everyone else was also waiting to see how this would turn out. William started off like he did for all of the others. Then his hands went to Oliver's glasses.
‘Olly?’
‘Y-you got me..’
‘Yes!’
‘Alright you can take that sleeping mask off now’ Jessie said interrupting. William did as she said and he looked at Oliver, who was standing right in front of him, and he smiled.
‘Shall we leave you too alone or shall we keep playing Truth or Dare?’ Jessie mocked. Noah snickered at her comment. William turned over to Jessie and they both started to argue. Oliver on the other hand was looking down now. Abigail couldn’t see his expression. Her guess was that he was either smiling, blushing or both from picking up on the joke that Jessie was going on with.
A few more hours went by as all of the six kept playing Truth or Dare. William looked down at his phone and screamed,
‘TWELVE SIXTEEN?!’
‘WHAT!?’ Jessie added on clearly as shocked as her twin.
After a bit everyone got ready for bed. Abigail ended up sleeping in between Jessie and Noah. Both of whom move in their sleep. Oliver slept in between William and Mark, again, William and Oliver were not rock sleepers. So, in the morning they all woke up and Abigail was in the spot where she fell asleep last night. Jessie and Noah were both clinging to her. Oliver and William did the same for Mark. Abigail was the first to wake up. She was also the first to realize that all of them had school that day. Abigail quickly woke up the rest of the six.
‘AWW man!’ Jessie said ‘It's too early for this!’
‘So true sis..’ Said William sadly.
While still pouting. All of them got ready to go to school. William surprisingly had a driver's license. He drove everyone to school. Once they got to school they got their stuff from his car and went out. They all were walking to class when they heard a shot in the hallway. Abigail and Oliver brushed it off but everyone went to go see what it was. Oliver and Abigail not wanting to spoil the ‘Fun’ for everyone decided to tag along.
Apparently there was a teacher and a kid bedding with each other. It seems to look like the kid was winning. After that whole incident the teacher, being a sore loser, sent the kid to detention. Then the teacher went back to his own class, and so did the six. They all sat in the same spot they sat as they did the day before.
When lunch break hit, practically everyone ran to the Cafeteria. No one was listening to the teachers what-so-ever. It was chaotic. Abigail was not the last person to get into the cafeteria but she also wasn't the first. She was in that big chunk of-a-group that shoves people out of the way so Abigail probably had some bruises.
She finished paying for her lunch when Noah called her over to sit with the rest of them. Abigail did so. They all had a good talk with each other.
‘Do you guys ever wonder if the world is coming close to an end?’ Oliver asked out of nowhere, cutting off what Jessie was saying.
‘Uh, where the hell did that come from little dude?’ William responded
‘..I dunno..Just a random thought that came over don't, mind it.’
Everyone died down a bit now wondering that thought in their heads. After lunch, They went back and finished their remaining classes and went back to William’s car. While William was driving back to their house they got pulled over by the Cops. Everybody in that car started to question William.
‘WILL!! Did you go over the speed limit?!’ Jessie yelled at him from the passenger's seat.
‘I-I DON’T-’ William was about to answer when Noah cut him off.
‘DUDE! DID YOU FORGET YOUR LICENSE?!!’
‘NO I-’ This time Abigail cut him off.
‘William what the HELL did you DO!?’
‘I DON’T KNOW GUYS! I DID NOTHING WRONG!’ William yelled. He was getting quite annoyed by everyone who kept cutting him off.
The officer came over to William’s side and knocked on the window. William, without looking, lowered the window.
‘Hi son. Don’t worry you’re not in trouble just gotta see who is coming in and out of here from time-to-time. You know. Police stuff’
‘DAD!?’ William and Jessie yelled in unison.
