There was a lot that could be said about the circumstances around Jason's death and eventual revival, but there was no denial about the fact that he was in a better place now. It could be said that Ra’s al Ghul was not the best individual in the world, but he did his best to make up for his mistakes. He revived the child due to the fact that he blamed himself for his death. He had hired the clown as a distraction. He couldn't have known that this would occur, but it had nonetheless. He had meant to return Jason to Bruce once it was over, but the child refused this idea when he learned that Bruce had allowed the clown to live. He could understand, and he allowed the child to make his own decision. He took him in as one of his own in a sort of way.
Jason chose to stick around for several reasons, but the main one had to be the small child that Talia introduced him to. Jason had learned in the time he spent as Bruce's son how important a brother could be. He loved Dick, and now it looked like he had a new brother to add to his collection. Damian was small, and while those eyes held the distinct nature of an al Ghul, it was clear he was the blood son. Jason bonded fast to Damian, and he trained as an assassin under Ra's’ direction. He found a home. He found his home.
It should be noted that children create issues out of thin air on some occasions, and the idea that Jason could have a last name that did not match either of his own bothered Damian a lot. He wanted others to know that he was his brother with name alone. Jason did not have an interest in the Wayne name, and with what Bruce had done to him, he did not look for that fact to change. It wasn't an issue for him, but Damian remained unsatisfied. He had two names. Jason was a bit hesitant, but he decided to compromise.
“How about Jason al Ghul?” Jason mused as he watched the older man sharpen his collection of swords, unable to miss the look he was handed in return. “Damian wants people to know the two of us are related, and I refuse to take Bruce's last name. I mean, think of it as an honorary title.”
“Jason al Ghul.” Ra’s reiterated as he seemed to consider the idea that the child could have some kind of connection to him, seeming satisfied in the decision before he continued. “I do believe that would be considered an acceptable title, but do be mindful of what it means.”
“Does this mean I'm now your favorite child?” Jason questioned as he continued to watch the man work, taking the look the man held as an answer. “Second favorite?”
“I raised Talia on my own.” Ra's reasoned as he did his best not to hurt either of his children, handing the sword he had finished with over. “You can be my favorite son. I know that Damian admires you.”
It was hard to determine where Jason stood when it came to this new family of his, but he knew he was cared for. He was an al Ghul now. He had a home and a brother. He had a weird situation with Ra’s and Talia where he tried to find his place and his desire for a parent. He would make it work.
“How does this work.. Mother.. Father.. Talia.. Ra’s.. Hm..” Jason mused as he let his new brother nap on him, unable to miss how nice it felt to have a home. “Eh.. Whatever makes Bruce the most mad.”
