Work Text:
Back home at the Golden palace a large garden existed. Elodora and her father would sometimes have picnics in the garden and other times they would just lay in the grass and admire the sky above. But there was one thing special about this garden, all the flora and plants was simply an imitation of that off earth's endless forest and fields and was only meant to be looked at so now to feel the flowers and grass brush against her legs as she walked though the field took her breath away.
Verna upon hearing that Elodra never had been in a real field had immediately dragged her away to one of the large flower fields in Plumo’s domain and now she was standing in an endless field of flowers in all colors and shapes, taking in the sweet scent of the flowers. The air and the buzzing of the insects of bugs and the singing of the birds field her ears. Still hand in hand, Verna slowly led Eleodora though the field towards a small hill with a large oak on top. As they reached the hill Verna turned around and said:
“You can go up to the oak, I just need to get something” and without waiting for a response Verna ran past Eleodra out in the field. Eleodora simply shrugged and did as she was told and made her way up the small hill.
She got up on the hill and walked over to the oak and slowly sat down in its shade leaning against it. The sun shined bright and warm over the field leaving no shades to hide in unless you had like her found one of the lone trees one could pass by every now then. A warm breeze passed by her, making her hair dance in the wind. She took a deep breath of the crisp humid air, her eyes slowly getting heavier as she sank down in the soft grass.
“ELEDORA!” A voice jolted Eledora awake. Beneath the hill Verana came running with a large bouquet of flowers and with an even larger smile on her face. When Verna reached the top she dumped all the flowers beside Eleodra and sat down beside her.
Eledora looked down on the flowers and then up on Verna with a puzzled look.
“What are these for?”
Verna gave her a soft smile "you'll see soon!”
She picked up two flowers, a white one with many small petals and a red one with four large petals from the grass and weaved the stalks of the flowers together. She then picked up another flower, a pink one with very large petals and waved it in, forming a string of flowers.
Verna continues weaving flowers into the string, quick but delicate. Eleodora's eyes begin to wander up from Verna's hands to her face. Her eyes are focused on the string of flowers in her hand, not breaking eye contact with it for even a split second. Her beautiful deep ocean blue eyes and soft round face-
Eleodora quickly looks away as she feels her face heating up and her heart racing. Why was she thinking like this??? She squeezes her eyes shut as she takes a deep breath trying to get burning heat from her face and calm her heart.
“Eleodora look!”
Eleodora slowly turns her face around to see Verna holding up the sitting of flowers, though now bound together at the ends forming a circle.
Eleodora stares at it for a moment “It's really pretty but I don't understand what it is?-”
Without replying Verna stands up and walks over to Eleodora and places the circle of flowers on her head.
“It's a flower crown!” She smiles.
Eleodra raises her hand and slowly caresses the delicate flower crown but Verna quickly takes and holds her hand.
“Come their is crystal clear pond right near by you can use it as a mirror”
Verna plus light on Eleodra and Eleodra quickly gets up and follows Verna close behind her still hand in hand.
As they ran though the field Eleodora couldn't help to fixate on Verna running so gracefully in front of her. Her soft green her fluttering in the wind, the warmth of her hand in Eleodoras, her long beautiful dress-
“The pond is right over their i can see it now!” Verna exclaims, interrupting Eleodora's thoughts.
Eleodora takes her eyes away from Verna and sees the pond in front of them, growing closer for every step they take. As it comes into full view, Verna slows down and Eleodora follows suit, both fully stopping once they have reached the edge of the pond.
Just like Verna said the pond is crystal clear, you could probably count every sand grain of the soft almost white sand. Small silver colored fish swims around in the pond but as they step closer the fish quickly swim away.
Eleodora looks down in the pool gazing over her reflection. The flower crown was filled with colors from all different kinds of flowers in all different kinds of sizes and shapes. Despite this the flower crown did not look busy or messy, it all had a sort of harmony to it. It complimented her white hair well and thanks to her horns the flower crown sat very well and secure on her head.
“Pretty right?” Verna peaked over her shoulder.
“yeah…” Eledora mumbled lost in the gaze of her own reflection in admiration of Verna's work. Before Eleodra can react Verna quickly leans closer to her and gives her a light kiss on the check and just as quickly takes a few steps back.
“Race you back to Plumo’s palace!” She challenges in a playful voice as she turns around and starts running back to where they came from.
“HEY! that's not fair you started before me” Eleodora laughs as turns around to run after Verna. She takes her hand to her cheek where she can still feel the wetness from Verna's lips, she's not going to wash this side off the face anytime soon.
