Chapter Text
The morning glow filtered through the glass windows. And instead of the soft kisses of the sunlight, she was woken up by, actual, tangible, real kisses from a pair of very real and very familiar lips.
"Happy anniversary, darling." Aang whispered softly in her ear, his voice deliciously hoarse from the slumber. He nuzzled his face into her neck, pressing more soft and lazy kisses onto the skin there.
Katara pandiculated and ran a hand through her hair. "Happy anniversary to you too, sweetie." She whispered back, enjoying his weight on top of her. It was relaxing and relieved the muscles of her back. "You got any work today?" She asked, already dreading the answer.
He let out a long sigh. "Yeah.... Yeah I do." He intertwined their fingers together and rubbed his face with hers like a kitten. "You?"
"Yep." She groaned. "Two lectures and one hospital visit."
"I got three ribbon cuttings. THREE. Ribbon. Cuttings." He hid his face deeper into her neck as if that would shelter him with all the responsibilities of keeping up with appearances. "I hate cutting ribbons." He huffed.
"I know, sweetheart." She chuckled and gave his hand a little kiss of comfort. "But you'll survive, I'm sure."
"Barely." He snickered. "Anyways, let's go out on a date this evening. You and me. We'll drop Bumi off at Sokka's."
The idea of a date night away from responsibilities was attractive. She'd take anything if it meant getting to unwind for some time. "Alright, let's do it. See you in the evening." Katara said teasingly as she untangled herself from him and got out of the bed.
