or a little flames?

Summary:

“To change the show so abruptly, without even discussing it with the host… ah, nevermind. I’m sorry. I’ve spoken out of turn.”

“It’s just… I had a lot of fun earlier during the live broadcast. My heart was racing, and it was quite exciting.”

What if Lee Jaheon didn’t need to intervene

Work Text:

“To change the show so abruptly, without even discussing it with the host… ah, nevermind. I’m sorry. I’ve spoken out of turn.”

Mr Roe Deer paused before continuing when he didn’t react.

“It’s just… I had a lot of fun earlier during the live broadcast. My heart was racing, and it was quite exciting.”

Mr Roe Deer was right. He hated these changes made to his show. He preferred the previous format. It was more exciting, more engaging, and more fun, at least for him. Even if it became a bit predictable with the contestants always getting the answers correct and the ratings dropping, he still liked it because it was his.

It was something that he had planned by himself, each detail and question carefully selected by him, bringing his show from nugudom to the popular show it was.

Now, it was stripped from him, with no warning, no sign, only a little notice sent to him right after he finished airing his last episode of his beloved quiz show. To say he was enraged was an understatement. But he was in the presence of his contestants, so he forced himself to stay calm, acting out a cheery facade to keep the show going.

But now that Mr Roe Deer had pointed out all the flaws, he was sure. This all had to go. Only his method was correct.

Beep-beep-beep

The alert indicating there were 60 seconds left before the filming resumed rang out. He should be directing Mr Roe Deer back to his podium. He should be going back to his position. Still, he stood where he was, his microphone clutched in one hand, his grip slowly tightening on it.

Why should he listen to the higher-ups? They clearly didn’t know how to make shows. And this set too. It wasn’t something he had designed or chosen, forced onto him by management.

It was old, drab, and lacked any originality. If he had a choice, he would’ve changed it long ago.

His anger flared once more, surging and spilling over the edge, causing him to finally snap. A fire emote flashed across his screen, causing Mr Roe Deer to take a slight step back.

[You’re right, Mr Roe Deer.]

He turned to look at the non-existent audience at the stands.

[And these creators… they don’t understand showmaking at all!]

He snapped his fingers.

[They don’t understand the essence of a show at all!]

The pig conductor burst into flames.

[But I do!]

The staff started burning too.

[Hahahaha, dear audience!]

He spoke towards a camera, his microphone held up to his face with one hand, the other pointing towards the camera.

[A show should be made with passion, with love, not any of these… corporate █ █ █]

[Thus, this all should go!]

The set was burning down, lights, cameras, everything. It was all engulfed in flames. The contestants shifted away from it, trying to avoid the fire nipping at the stage.

[Ah… A new show will be made in place of this, and it will be greater, more exciting, and more entertaining!]

[I promise you, my dear fans, you will not be disappointed!]

Then, he turned to Mr Roe Deer.

[And you, Mr Roe Deer, thank you for enlightening me!]

He took the human’s hands into his, shaking them enthusiastically.

[Although it’s a pity that today’s show had to end this way, I hope you had fun.]

He let go of the human’s hands and waved goodbye to him.

[Let’s meet again next show!]

Unni, please accept praise 😭
