Work Text:
Madeline and Helen were sitting on the couch. Helen, in a set of red velvet silk pajamas, was focused on her writing for her book. Beside her, Madeline wore a fluffy pink nightgown. She hummed, her gaze on her musical script.
“Mad? I need to finish this chapter. Can you please be quiet for a while?” Helen implored, her brow furrowing in concentration.
“I'm rehearsing for next week’s musical rehearsal,” Madeline replied.
“I know... but I really want to finish this chapter before I get to sleep,” Helen said, her voice tinged with a hint of urgency.
“Fine!” Madeline huffed, she got off from the couch and stormed back to her bedroom, the door slamming behind her with a resounding bang across the house.
Helen sighed with her girlfriend’s sudden mood change.

Morning
“Hel….” A tiny voice broke the morning silence, a sound that was distinctly childlike.
“Hmm?” Helen murmured, her eyes fluttering open.
“Helen Sharp!” Madeline's voice rang out, full of urgency.
“What?!” Helen exclaimed, startled awake. She turned to the source of the sound, her breath catching in her throat as she beheld a younger, shorter, and undeniably adorable version of Madeline standing before her.
“Mad? What happened?” she asked, scrambling toward the petite figure, her heart racing in disbelief.
“I don't know! When I woke up, I was already like this, just like a toddler!” Madeline pouted, the oversized fabric of her pink nightgown nearly swallowing her small frame.
“Okay… do you want to change into something a little more fitting?” Helen suggested gently.
“Yeah…” Madeline nodded, her eyes wide with hope.
“Come with me,” Helen said, taking Madeline’s hand and leading her to her walk-in closet.
After searching through the clothes, Helen chose a white t-shirt that draped over Madeline's frame, reaching almost to her knees.
“Breakfast!” said Madeline.
“Alright, princess,” Helen replied with a smirk, her heart warming at the sight of her now little girlfriend.
They made their way to the kitchen.
“What would you like then, Mad?” Helen inquired with a smile.
“Pancakes!” said Madeline eagerly.
“Okay,” Helen affirmed as she fetched the pancake mix.
“Up, up!” Madeline commanded, her voice laced with impatience.
“Fine,” Helen relented and lifted Madeline into her arms, placing her on the kitchen island so she could watch the cooking process unfold.
Once the pancakes were cooked, they sat together at the island and ate their pancakes.
After breakfast, Helen got to their library, with Madeline trotting along behind her.
She’s so clingy, just like a toddler, Helen thought; but she liked it.
Helen settled into her reading couch with the book that she had chosen, and Madeline, with her big innocent blue eyes shining brightly, climbed onto her lap. Madeline wriggled until she found a comfortable spot, her head leaning against Helen’s shoulder as they read together.
An hour later, the door bell rang, it echoed through the house.
Helen set her book aside and scooped Madeline up, who instinctively wrapped her arms around Helen’s neck for security.
Opening the front door, Helen was greeted by Stefan, his expression shifting from amusement to surprise as he laid eyes on the five-year-old version of Madeline nestled in Helen's arms.
“Hey, Helen. Is Madeline with….” Stefan halted, words escaping him as he took in the sight before him.
“I am Madeline! What’s the matter, Stefan?” Madeline said confidently, her small stature in stark contrast to her assertiveness.
“Oh, you are… did you drink some random potion?” Stefan asked, incredulous.
“No! I woke up, and I was already like this!” Madeline replied.
“Okay… Just to let you know, you have a photoshoot tomorrow, and you missed my call. So… hopefully, you’ll be back to normal by then,” he explained.
“Is that it?” Helen asked, her brow raised.
“Yeah, bye. Thanks for the time,” Stefan said quickly, waving goodbye as he left.
“Aww no!!” Madeline wailed, burying her face in the crook of Helen’s neck, her small frame trembling with despair.
“It’s okay. I believe you will get back to normal,” Helen soothed, gently running her fingers through Madeline's soft hair and placing a tender kiss on her temple.

Night
Helen worked on her story, fingers flying over the keyboard as the glow of the laptop illuminated her focused expression.
Just then, Madeline burst into the library, now clad in a Navy blue t-shirt, looking adorable with her tousled hair, sleep-heavy eyes and a teddy bear(Helen bought it for her girlfriend) in her hand.
“Hel,” she yawned, her voice sweet and pleading.
“Yes?” Helen answered, torn between work and the pull of affection.
“Sleep. With me, now!” Madeline insisted, her eyes wide and serious.
“Okay. Okay,” Helen replied, her heart softening as she saved her progress and closed her laptop with a decisive click.
Helen approached Madeline, who reached out her arms eagerly. Helen obliged, lifting her into her embrace with a smile as Madeline nestled her head against Helen's shoulder.
“Do you think I will get back to normal tomorrow, Hel?” Madeline asked, a hint of worry lacing her words.
“You will. But you looking like a five-year-old is quite cute. I only saw you like that in your childhood photo albums,” Helen reassured her, affection radiating from her gaze.
They reached Helen’s bedroom, and she gently set Madeline down on the bed.
Madeline positioned herself comfortably, resting her head at the crook of her neck.
“Good night,” Madeline murmured sleepily.
“Good night,” Helen replied softly, placing a kiss on Madeline’s hair as they drifted into a peaceful sleep together.

Morning
Helen woke to the familiar warmth of blonde hair brushing against her chin.
“Mad?” she whispered, still half lost in sleep.
“Hmm?” Madeline replied, sleepiness still lingering.
As Helen shifted, her eyes widened as she noticed Madeline had transformed back to her normal self, wearing a perfectly fitting t-shirt and moving her adult-sized hands.
“Oh, you changed back to normal!” Helen exclaimed, relief flooding her heart.
Madeline glanced down, astonished as she took in her familiar form. “Oh yeah…” she said, her realization dawning.
“Great, so you can do your photoshoot today,” Helen stated, a smile breaking across her face, thrilled to see Madeline back to her old self.
Madeline smiled and kissed her girlfriend.
“Got to work now, I have bills to pay,” said Madeline as she climbed off the bed and got to change, ready for her photo shoot.
“Love you, Hel,” said Madeline as she got her tote bag on her shoulder.
“Love you too. Buy me a cup of matcha after your photo shoot? I don’t want to get out of the house today,” said Helen.
“Okay, sure,” said Madeline.
“Thanks, Mad,” said Helen.
“It’s fine, got to go,” said Madeline as she slipped out of Helen’s bedroom and out of the house for her work.
