Muted yet frustrated clacking was heard from the laptop of Airi Momoi, the fanged girl groaning in exasperation staring at the blinding screen. She did very much know staring for so long at such a bright screen in a dark room could only lead to troubles, but she couldn’t help it! Scheduling was REALLY getting on her nerves. Admittedly, that wasn’t hard to do, but it didn’t distract from her annoyance.
As her hand dug into her mane of pink hair, a soft noise distracted her from the frustrations of scheduling a freelance idol unit.
“SNNNNNNNNNNNNZ…”
Well. Soft wasn’t really the right word here.
Chuckling quietly, Airi stroked the hair of her girlfriend, having passed out like a reasonable person at some point during the night; really, Airi wouldn’t be bothering with any kind of work were her beloved awake.
She squinted at the time on her laptop; 11:55 PM. Not the worst…but sleeping this late isn’t exactly ideal. Even just a couple less hours than usual can lead to worse performance throughout the day; Airi can’t be having that! For both herself and for More More Jump!. Closing the cursed device and setting it aside, she got ready to rest up, when…
“Mmm…?” Even in the darkness of the room, she could very clearly make out Shizuku slowly waking up, taking a good few seconds to stretch herself out and rub at her half-lidded eyes before looking at Airi. Her vacant expression spoke volumes for her current level of consciousness. “Airi-chan…? What time is it…”
She fell back into Airi’s lap, clearly not entirely there. Airi resisted the urge to call her beyond adorable. “Almost midnight, Shizuku. Let’s get to sleep for good now; we wouldn’t wanna sleepwalk through practice, right?” She kept letting her hands fly through Shizuku’s hair, almost like a default action.
It took a few seconds for her words to get to Shizuku, apparently, as it was then her head rose back up, looking almost pouty. She clung to Airi’s arms like a drunk koala. “But Airi-chaaaan…I didn’t mean to fall asleep! I wanted to stay up…”
This prompted Airi to tilt her head. Shizuku? Stay up? She has the sleep schedule of a grandma!
Another second passed before Shizuku continued. “Tomorrow’s a really special day! I wanted to be awake for it…”
She slapped her cheeks as a wake up call of sorts, staring resolutely into Airi’s eyes. Shivers were sent up the other’s spine upon meeting iris to iris. “And I want you to be awake for it too, Airi-chan.”
A nervous sweat went down Airi’s forehead. A special day…? Does-
The nervousness faded immediately. Ah. Of course. The date in only 3 minutes is…
Airi nodded, her signature fanged grin coming back in full force. “Of course. I wouldn’t do anything else.”
This news was very, very very very good for Shizuku. Enough so that she bounded straight into Airi, burying herself in the other’s pink hair like a cloud of fluffy cotton candy. She snuggled into it, Airi all the while managing to do nothing else but giggle like the two had no cares in the world like each other.
Really, it wasn’t far from the truth. The two together could and would overcome anything in their way; all for the sake of the fairy tale happily ever after Shizuku loves to talk about. With each other in their grasps, as close as two people can be, time moved on…
And the clock struck 12:00 AM.
A clip of Airi singing the song she never could as Happy Everyday played in lieu of a traditional alarm sound from Shizuku’s phone, briefly rendering Airi starstruck before her mind could catch up.. Did she really…?
“AIRI-CHAAAAN!” Without a moment of delay, Shizuku shifted herself straight into Airi’s front side, snuggling up to her cheek-to-cheek. “Airi-chan! Happy middle birthday!!!”
The pink one was peppered with uncountable amounts of kisses all over her face, leaving her completely and utterly stunlocked. She swore she saw swans hovering over her. “Ehehe~ I’m really glad I got to stay up for this day! It’s an equally special day for both of us!”
It took several seconds of Shizuku staring at her like she was a precious metal for Airi to regain her ability to move. When she did, of course, she took Shizuku by the shoulders. The taller idol falling over, their positions were reversed. It was obvious what was next.
Airi couldn’t help herself from assaulting Shizuku with even more kisses, on every inch of her face possible. Her gentle smile was palpable and impossible to hide. “Sh-Shizuku! Happy middle birthday to the both of us! I’m…glad too we get to celebrate it together.” The pink idol couldn’t help the slight shakiness of her voice; not when she just got positively BOMBARDED by the one person she could never guard herself against.
Shizuku managed to set both of them upright even despite the flurry of kisses, forehead touching her idol’s own. “Airi-chan…my idol. I love you. And…I will forever! I promise!”
Gah. Airi felt herself take critical damage from that line, yet…she would persevere. “I… me too. I love you just as much…my idol. Shizuku.”
The two went quiet for all of 2 seconds. Shizuku was the first to start leaning in, Airi following immediately after. And when their lips finally connected, the rest was history.
