“Oh, boy!”
“Oh boy is right!”
Sue stood over Franklin, and at the old movie on the Tv. And-
“It’s past your curfew. Up to bed.”
“C’mon, Mom. Five more minutes?”
“Now. Or I’ll tell Spider-Man you’re up past your bedtime.”
Franklin couldn’t have gotten to his room faster.
A week later, it was Franklin’s birthday.
Franklin sat at the table with a party hat on.
“Susie? Where’s his cake?” Ben grumbled putting up the final streamers.
“I put Reed up to it.” She explained, putting on a party hat of her own.
“Oh, you see...” Reed stretched his arm out and tousled Franklin’s hair. “There was a situation... With the cake.”
“A situation?” Sue put her hands on her hips.
“Uncle Johnny?” Franklin piped up, as Johnny came into the kitchen. And following him was, “Spider-Man?!” Wearing a party hat of his own and holding up a store bought cake.
Later, after candles and happy birthday, Johnny and Peter stood out on the roof.
“I owe you.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. What was that, Uncle Johnny?”
Johnny, without a word, pulled Peter’s mask down.
“Hey!”
In the time it took him to adjust, Johnny had already flamed on and was soaring away across the stars, daring Spider-Man to chase him.
Peter immediately shot a web off, following suit. “Gonna be late tonight, MJ," he uttered to himself.
